I'm kind of on the fence about this book. It wasn't really tips on how to make money like you might imagine, it was just ten different points on how to make money the one way. That one way is pretty much just about giving stuff away for free in order to get loyal customers that would purchase other items from you in the future.

Besides that, it seemed mostly just like an advertisement for his other book. That aspect of it was kind of annoying, I don't read books to have people try to sell stuff to me.

Anyway, it had an interesting concept, if you could get it for free, this is a quick read and you might as well if you have a business. If you are just someone looking to make money this probably isn't the book for you.

Very interesting read and revolutionary sorts of ideas on today's 'trends' in marketing...but actually not so-so revolutionary in that Lovell reintroduces the classic notion of what I call "chick-fil-a samples" and codifies it in today's cultural and digital backdrop. But my thought is this: social media-based marketing and that whole gamut he discusses -I want to say, grew and unfolded in a somewhat organic fashion, but that once you capture it and make a model out of it, and package the idea, it no longer carries the same effect and almost becomes useless or obsolete. Nevertheless, I definitely subscribe to the things he says and is well-written.

Giving away the short ebook for free (of for 11 South African cents in my case, since Amazon charges for it) brilliantly demonstrates the very principle the book espouses -- that giving away some things for free can be a strategic business decision leading to fabulous results. I have told at least 5 people about this short book since whizzing through it last night (on my phone, since I had accidentally left my tablet locked up at the office).

This mini book gets 5 stars just because it was superbly proofread and edited. The insights will make you reevaluate how you sell and what you sell in a post consumer world. This free book is worth the price of the expanded version (you'll understand what I mean once you've read this book).

This is a great book! However, it is a promotion for the author's other book- Curve- and the author's blog-. However, it is such a fast read and the book and the blog are introduced so early in the book that you can finish the book with a lot of great ideas and not feel like you've been pressured to purchase the other book or to visit the author's website.

He shares vital concepts like a musician should consider putting their tracks on Spotify and authors should consider giving their good stuff away so they can find out what customers actually want. He also shares the fact that most of the money raised on Kickstarter comes from $100 increments.
