Présentation de l'éditeur

Welcome to Wayward Pines, population 461. Nestled amidst picture-perfect mountains, the idyllic town is a modern-day Eden...except for the electrified fence and razor wire, snipers scoping everything 24/7, and the relentless surveillance tracking each word and gesture.

None of the residents know how they got here. They are told where to work, how to live, and who to marry. Some believe they are dead. Others think they’re trapped in an unfathomable experiment. Everyone secretly dreams of leaving, but those who dare face a terrifying surprise.

Ethan Burke has seen the world beyond. He’s sheriff, and one of the few who knows the truth—Wayward Pines isn’t just a town. And what lies on the other side of the fence is a nightmare beyond anyone’s imagining.

This book - like the first in the series, Pines - is enjoyable enough to keep you turning the pages, but the supension of disbelief is sometimes a struggle. There are lots of unanswered questions, which is frustrating, and time after time I found myself wondering' "How did that happen?" (If the town was built by the fiendish all-seeing Dr, why didn't he have the sense to block off the underground tunnels from the original town? Can you really keep enough food to feed several hundred people in storage for 2000 years? Where did our hero get the Abbi which suddenly wakes up in his car?) And there's no expalnation as to why our hero's wife is already in town when he arrives, even though she's taken after he arrives there.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 "Excellent Intense Thriller"........."Part 2"........ 18 septembre 2013

I have been a long time fan of author, Blake Crouch since I read his short story and interview in "Cemetery Dance Magazine" many years ago..This was before his books were even released electrionically..I searched and bought every book he had written..He has never disappointed me and he continues not to with this excellent, very intense thriller..I will say this book continues almost exactly where you left off in "The Pines" which I thought you couldn't TOP but he just did with part 2 of the series..It's' creepy, nerve wracking suspense had me hanging on the edge of my seat..Non-stop action all the way to the shocking, explosive ending....There are so many unexpected twists and turns, dark evil secrets revealed that I was left speechless right until the last page..I would definitely recommend reading "The Pines" first, (Book 1 of the Series)..The author does tell you somethings in flashbacks but you will get a better understanding of all the main characters and their history..Especially, who and why Ethan Burke is a main player in this strange world..

Welcome to the happy hometown of "Wayward Pines" where life is simple, pleasant and the sun rises everyday..The new Sheriff is Ethan Burke who is there to protect and keep the people of his town safe..There are savage, hungry creatures that lurk on the outside of the town beyond the fenced border..Yet, there is something more demonic that lurks inside the town and it is getting restless..Only Sheriff, Ethan Burke knows the answers which makes him caught in the middle of the beginning of chaos..It goes against all his morales and values where he will have to make the biggest decision of his life...Then there is "God" always watching and looking down upon his creations...I would like to introduce to "David Pilcher"......

Remember the rules in this town are, "See No Evil", "Hear No Evil", "Speak No Evil" because there are always consequences..In the end we all want to see the "Heavenly Gates"...

I am counting on director and producer M. Night Shyamalan in giving this TV series the justice it deserves...

I was lucky enough to get an advance copy from Mr Crouch and devoured (the only term that fits here) the book within one sitting (as I did with Pines). I finished wanting Blake to not only have started, but to be finished with the third one already! What a cliff hanger ending.. I want more more more! I can't wait till the Pines tv show on Fox in 2014! Don't want to give away too much.. but how would you like living in a town where you have no privacy? Where every room in your house has hidden cameras; hidden cameras on every street.. in every building! You are expected to "toe the line" and not try to leave town or you will be hunted down by other towns people and murdered in cold blood! The same town people that you had had to dinner the night before, or your son or daughter's teacher at school...what a terrible way to live, or is it living? What can be worse then living in a town like this? Why, being outside the town and outside the electrified fence that surrounds the town!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Not endless cheap pulp sci-fi/serial fiction... Pure awesomness. Relates to the real world, while also being alien. 15 novembre 2013
Par Christian Atlanta - Publié sur
Format:Format Kindle
After the first book, when most of the major secrets were out in the open, I was worried that the second book would either not have the same larger than life exhilaration, or read like a serial sci-fi/soap opera type book, with new storylines seemingly made up on the fly. I know many a writer, myself included, that do not know where their books are going to take them, which can often times result in cheap tricks being used to keep the reader excited, but I can say that this series does not read as such. Not only does the second book give a much desired deeper look into the puppet master, pawns, and outliers of the whole operation, but maintains and intensifies the madness that I love. I saw one person, in a review, say that we fall deeper into the rabbit hole with this book, but I disagree. I was worried this would turn into a never ending scroll of more and more fantastical fiction, but the story in the second book actually gets more grounded, without losing intensity. The characters and problems become more real, more human. The town itself is seen as, no longer a science-fiction alien world, but an actual town, on earth, with real people. The scary and awesome thing about this second book is that the story shows just how real it could be. Not in a literal sense, but while uncovering the madness of the town, I began to think about some of the dark secrets and actions of governments past. With technology expanding rapidly, there is room for much greater and profound treachery, but let me not get off track. To put it bluntly, the exciting drama is continued without losing the essence of the first book, while also not seeming like an unbelievable sci-fi serial. One of the few bad reviews given to this book said that it did seem like this was just a series of cliffhangers. While there are cliffhangers at the end of each book, it is not the super annoying kind. At the end of the books, what you are waiting to find out, or whatever volcanos you are waiting to erupt, does in fact happen. The cliffhangers are not the major storylines. I did not feel suckered into buying this second book just to find out what happens. It was very clear to me that once the major climax happened, or the action was taken, or the whatever happened, I knew that nothing could ever be the same again, so I did not expect a "they lived happily ever after". So I expected cliffhangers, but was hoping they were not hanging off of the major things I had been waiting for, and they weren't. There is more fun to come, I can't wait for the third book. Do not listen to the bad reviews, every one of them concentrates on something that is either not seemingly there, or is complaining that the sci-fi book they read was... in fact... a sci-fi book.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Paranoia rules in the continuation of this excellent series. 2 septembre 2013

Format:Broché|Commentaire client Vine pour produit gratuit (De quoi s'agit-il?)
It is extremely difficult to review this latest work by Blake Crouch without giving away spoilers --- I will do my best!

If the reader already experienced the first novel in this terrific series --- PINES --- there is nothing really to reveal. For those new to the series, WAYWARD introduces you to the town of Wayward Pines where the 416 residents live in an almost Stepford Wives state of perfection. Are they dead, in heaven/hell/limbo or are they the last human civilization left on the planet and surrounded by monsters?

The lead character is Sheriff Ethan Burke and he plans to reveal the 'truth' to the inhabitants of Wayward Pines. However, he forgets the old adage about the devil you know...

WAYWARD reads like an extended episode of The Twilight Zone with shades of the terrific 1970's horror novel, DEAD AND BURIED. Crouch pulls no punches and there are plenty of surprises. Hopefully, the rest of the series can sustain this level of suspenseful writing.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Sequel just as good as the original! 16 février 2014
Par Markus - Publié sur
Format:Format Kindle|Achat authentifié par Amazon
It's rare that I read a sequel and say, "Wow, that was just as good as the first novel," but that's exactly what I said after reading WAYWARD. Again, same as with the first book in the series, PINES, the story held my interest through the entire book. The sequel deals with Ethan now serving as the town sheriff. He's trying to rebuild his relationship with his wife Theresa and son Ben. Ethan finds a dead girl in the middle of the road with multiple stab wounds. When the killer is finally revealed, it's impossible not to be outraged as a reader, wanting to climb into the book and deal with the matter personally. As with all good books, the author makes you care enough to actually be outraged by a horrifying event. And as terrible as the murder is, it's nothing compared to what Ethan finds at the end of the book. Something that even our wildest imagination could not comprehend. I've read a lot of Blake's work, and he just keeps getting better. Cannot wait until the third Kindle book in the series is released, THE LAST TOWN, on July 15th of this year, coinciding with the TV series scheduled to be released around the same time as the book. If you love books with a flavor of dystopia, but also tinged with the hope of humanity, then this series is for you. Now, jump on over to Amazon and start reading this series today. I promise you will not be disappointed.
