Présentation de l'éditeur

Live . . . Laugh . . . Read . . . with New York Times bestselling author Christie Craig . . .

“Christie Craig is a must-read.” —New York Times bestselling author Nina Bangs

Till Deaths Do You Part . . .

Katie Ray was about to marry a man she didn’t love—and who didn’t love her. Even losing her $8,000 engagement ring wasn’t enough of a sign to call things off. What did it take? Being locked in the closet with a sexy PI, and being witness to murder.

. . . Or They Bring You Together

Carl Hades hardly wanted to be shackled with another man’s soon-to-be-wife, especially when the gorgeous redhead stirred emotions he’d avoided for years. He’d been hired by an elite Houston wedding planner to investigate some missing brides. When those brides turned up dead, Carl saw where the whole situation was headed: just like Katie’s wedding ring and her ceremony, right down the toilet. Because, while Katie was suddenly and delightfully available, he had a feeling she was next in line to die. And before he could ask her to say “I do,” he had to know who would say “I did it.”

Cet livre est un polar/chick lit qui n'est pas mauvais, mais pas exceptionnel non plus. L'auteur a tout de même un don pour décrire l'alchimie entre les personnages.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 The crudest Christie Craig I've ever read 18 juin 2013
Par Ekaterin - Publié sur Amazon.com

Okay, when you read a Christie Craig romance, you know there will be sex; you will know that the women will be C cups; you know that there will be hunky men with large...attributes, who generally don't want to commit. You know that those hunky men will think some rather crude thoughts, but heavens to betsy, I wanted to take a shower after all the F bombs and other crude descriptions in this book.

Our hero makes his first romantic move by practically feeling her up in the middle of her place of employment during business hours--he literally pulled her skirt up and felt her butt. I don't think you could call me a prude, and this is the fourth Christie Craig book I've read, but that kind of action just jolts us out of the story. He wasn't a jerk earlier when he thought she was engaged (at least not outwardly), but the second he finds out she has called off the wedding, he moves in like a shark. This is not endearing or romantic. It's just kinda gross.

And she is perfectly right in not wanting to be on this man's so-called "poke list," but her character growth is that she decides a fling is okay. Wow.

I give it a star for an interesting story line, (although I'm really tired of the men afraid of commitment plots)and half a star for characters and half for un-put-down-ability. The dialogue seems very natural and gets a full star. It's obvious that Christie Craig can write. It's a shame that she turned what could have been an intriguing romance into something that just came off as trashy.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Nice story, but I had a couple problems with it. He's an unsympathetic jerk and too many cliffhanger scene interruptions. 7 mai 2009
Par Jane - Publié sur Amazon.com

STORY BRIEF:
Katie is engaged to be married in two weeks, but she doesn't love him and sort-of-accidentally flushes her engagement ring down the toilet. She visits her wedding planner Tabitha. While there someone shoots Tabitha and chases Katie into a storage room. Earlier that day Tabitha called private detective Carl asking him to come over. Tabitha told him she suspected someone she knew was killing her client brides. Carl shows up while the killer is chasing Katie. Carl follows them into the storage room. The killer gets out and locks Carl and Katie inside. Katie discovers a zinging attraction for Carl that she never had with Joe, her fiancé. Meanwhile Joe discovers he's attracted to someone other than Katie. Although Carl and Katie eventually get out of the room, Katie is at risk because she is next on the killer's bride-to-kill list.

REVIEWER'S OPINION:
This was the author's second book. It was ok - a nice story, but it wasn't as feel good as the first book "Divorced, Desperate and Delicious." Instead of anticipation, I was frustrated waiting for Carl and Katie to get together. Carl didn't want a commitment because he didn't want to be hurt, so he kept staying away from Katie. This hurt her. She felt rejected during most of the story. Finally in the end, Carl changes his mind. Conflict based on fear of being hurt is not a favorite device for me. Sometimes it works, but in this case it didn't, maybe because I had no sympathy or other positive feelings for Carl. He was being a jerk throughout the story.

I was annoyed with the author using too many cliffhanger scene interruptions. There are two relationships developing between four people. The author has three pages of Carl and Katie interacting. Then at a crucial moment in the conversation the author switches to a scene with Joe for a couple pages. At a crucial moment in Joe's scene, the author switches back to Carl's scene to continue Carl's conversation, yet leaves Carl's scene later at another cliffhanger moment. This switching back and forth went on for more than 100 pages (while the relationships were developing). I prefer a scene continue to a normal conclusion rather than stopping at a point I feel is an interruption. I was jumping around in the book so I could read several of the Joe scenes before going back and picking up the interrupted Carl scenes. Cliffhangers may be ok sometimes in small doses, but there were too many in this book.

Katie is constantly fighting nausea and vomits a lot. At one point, page 138, I was thinking "I'm tired of reading about her throwing up." This is a minor issue. The only reason I mention it is because the thought crossed my mind. It didn't bother me earlier. Other readers may find it humorous.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Conflicted feelings about this book. 29 janvier 2010
Par Ocean Lover - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Poche|Achat vérifié
When I started this book I thought it would be light reading that is entertaining. I read a lot of books on heavy topics and like to mix it up with some fun reading. But okay, I don't know how to say this without sounding like a prude but I thought some of her sex scene descriptions were a bit vulgar. I really did not need to read about leaving wet spots in a bed. I have been accused of being too liberal at times so I am even surprising myself with this reaction. Maybe I am getting old (is 45 old??). Anyway, if you are turned off by too much information about people's sex lives you may want to pass on this book. I enjoy books that give you just enough information to make a point but leave the rest up to your imagination.

Weddings Can Be Murder by Christie Craig

Mass Market Paperback release date May 27, 2008
4 Stars

Weddings Can Be Murders is a genuine contemporary romance story. This is a story of Katie Ray, a woman due to be married to a man she thinks she loves. Her position in this matter changes daily and when she accidentally flushes her wedding ring, she is forced to step back and pay serious consideration to her choices.

While she's busy with wedding arrangements, Katie stumbles onto the path of a killer. Carl Hades, a private investigator is on the trail of the killer who is responsible for the deaths of four brides-to-be.

During the course of the investigation, Katie and Carl discover an attraction towards each other. However, between Katie's imminent wedding and Carl's aversion to marriage, both are reluctant to act on their growing feelings.

In addition to the story of Katie and Carl, there's a secondary story featuring Katie's best friend. Both stories are easy to follow. The writing moves fast, and does not complicate the story. There are some very funny moments and also sad moments dealing with family loss.

Christine Craig is a talented writer. In this story, she develops interesting and likable characters into a story that has enough twist and turns to keep you at the edge of your seat. I look forward to reading more of her books.

I'm so disappointed. Way too many f words, just fouled up the story. Cute story line but very crudely ruined.
