Présentation de l'éditeur

An abandoned old house in a small town northeast of Houston is the site of a second murder, eerily similar to a supposed cold case of fourteen years earlier. FBI Agents CJ Johnston and Paige Riley are dispatched to find the link between the two homicides.
The team, including Ice and Billy, find the case to be anything but cold. For CJ and Paige, juggling the investigation while trying to keep their love affair a secret proves to be as hard as uncovering long-buried clues.

Eight-time Goldie winner Gerri Hill delivers thrills and passion in the chilling sequel to Keepers of the Cave.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 If you liked Keepers of the Cave, you're going to love this one. 6 janvier 2014

I loved Keepers of the Cave so I was excited to read the sequel. In the lesbian genre it's sometimes hard to find supernatural books that I like. I love the characters in this series. CJ and Paige are a realistic couple that always seem to end up in peculiar situations. I loved Ice in this one. Poor baldy being afraid of ghosts. I had such a vivid image of him inside my mind. I really hope there's another addition to this series. I'd love to read more from these characters. This is the best book I've read in quite some time.

I read Keepers of the cave and loved it as well. I knew when i saw this was a continuation of that book, that i had to have it. Im so glad I bought it. I was so entranced in the book. I loved the fact that i was just as interested into mystery of the case while being equally interested into the romance of CJ and Paige. I definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in crime, mystery, or romance.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Amusing, lighthearted, funny, touching romance, great sex 26 avril 2014

FBI Agents CJ Johnston and Paige Riley are once again sent off to look into a mysterious death. Along with their work partners Ice and Billy, they head off to a small town Northeast of Houston to investigate the death of a young boy that is similar to an earlier cold case.

At the same time they are exploring their new relationship, trying to keep it hidden from the colleagues, while finding ways to spend as much horizontal time together as possible.

What they find case wise is a haunted house, creepy neighbors, batty old women, and a lot of evil. More importantly what they find is the beginnings of something serious.

------------

Great follow up to Keepers of the Cave.

In the second of the series Ms Hill takes her more than slightly odd FBI team to a haunted house. In another great X-File-esque romp the team face friendly ghosts, possessed middle aged women and incompetent local cops.

This book gives us more of Ice and Billy and develops the team dynamics, especially amusing as the big baldy is terrified of ghosts. But once again the central characters are CJ and Paige who's burgeoning romance started in Keeper of the Cave. Here CJ and Paige start to explore their relationship outside of the play-acting - will it develop into something more than a short term fling while on the case, or will Paige's mother and CJ's insecurities derail it?

Amusing, lighthearted, funny, touching romance, great sex as always. Am enjoying the development of this off the wall series.

A reader cannot go wrong with a Gerri Hill story! The lead characters are fun, loyal and dedicated FBI agents. I love stories about female cops or FBI agents. Especially, when they are beautiful women! The chemistry between Paige and CJ is entrancing. The story is about emotions and truths coming to a crossroad and picking the right road. One of my life's joys is reading and this story has rewarded my indulgence. In the last few books, Ms. Hill has delved into the paranormal and the bizarre effortlessly. I applaud her creatively and her style. The love between Paige and CJ is heartwarming. The peek behind the bedroom door was exceptional! I applaud authors that don't hide how two beautiful woman can show each other how much they love one another. It pulls the reader closer to the characters. Well done and very hot!!!

3.0 étoiles sur 5 hot leads buried in a mediocre plot 20 janvier 2014

This wasn't as good as Keepers of the Cave. CJ and Paige definitely sizzle as a couple and I looked forward to all their alone time. But the detective/paranormal plot took way too much focus and lagged quite a bit with all the boring interviews. There was so much potential with a couple given this much chemistry, and every sex scene was really hot... but I just wasn't into the whole Ghostbusters meets Scooby Doo plot.

In this sequel we find the beautiful and girlie Paige and her sexy soft butch CJ moving into a more serious level in their relationship. Gone are CJ's all-nighters at the bar with faceless women and too much tequila. Nothing repressed about how Paige feels about her woman. Her assertiveness and love for CJ was totally hot. These two practically live together in this one. At work, these FBI agents, along with their partners, Ice and Billy, are dealing with the outcome of having so many people die in the last book's fiasco. Their boss has been demoted and they are given a 14 year old cold case combined with an active one that no one expects them to solve. Basically, it's a crappy assignment. This includes lots of visits to a trailer park and one haunted house with a seriously angry ghost.

Off they go to investigate, dragging us through interview after interview in a kind of real-time mode. About halfway through I was skimming a lot of that stuff. Ack. Way too repetitive. It opened pretty promising and the sexual interludes were awesome but they kind of disappeared or did the fade to black thing about halfway through. Had they continued in more detail to the end I'd of gotten through the trite paranormal stuff without complaint. Though I will say that Gerri Hill really is getting bold in the bedroom and experimenting with new positions, lol. I LOVE Gerri Hill for these sexy new choices!! My guess is the little old ladies in the editing room musta had an aneurysm over this particular strap-on scene, ahaha. Hello Mt. Lesbos Publishing!!! It's 2014!!!! LOL.

These two are definitely hot every time they get to be alone, sex or not. Every time Paige called CJ "tiger," I just kinda melted. But the exciting build up from Keepers of the Cave did not exist here and I just wasn't as seduced into quietly putting up with the detective and paranormal stuff until the focus came back to the couple alone. It takes more than more of the same to produce a good sequel... especially when the characters have changed. I really wish Hill had put the romance at the forefront and done something more interesting with them. There is life after hooking up and I wish Gerri would explore this intelligently and creatively and not just in terms of whether or not it's safe to say "I love you." Because it's so OBVIOUS that they do!!! No need to resort to a boring detective/paranormal plot to fill in the time. Why do some writers always think something other than the romance can possibly be more interesting?!

However, I will say that Paige and Ice just shined here bringing quite a bit of humor to the plot. I learned Ice is an African American and has an amusing fear of haunted houses. And if Paige was a vegan in the last story, I guess I forgot. I laughed out loud at all of Paige's little obsessive and uppity quirks. She was definitely the star in this one. The complication of having a vegan diet was amusing... and her bossy and condescending attitude toward non-vegan mortals was hilarious... all too true of 99.9% of the vegans I've met in real life, I must say (sorry, but it's true). In this case, it just made Paige more amusing. At some point I thought food took way too much of a focus here, lol.

I want to say the plot was more interesting toward the end... but I'm just not much of a paranormal fan. I was bored and wanted the romance to have much more of a focus.

A couple of quibbles regarding Paige. She is what interested me most about the story and she is one of my favorite Gerri Hill femmes... so I was disappointed at the lack of physical description. Not one mention of her blonde hair until 82% of the way through. You CANNOT forget to sexualize hair and tell me about her clothes... or give me a visual of her pretty legs. That's like the best part for me. (Though Paige naked under her robe *was* enough to give any dyke an imaginary Radclyffe hardon.)

FURTHERMORE, I can deal with all the peeing Gerri Hill's characters are always doing. I wouldn't even grumble over menstruation if she goes there. But please don't even talk about farting...
