Présentation de l'éditeur

As a member of a covert army unit, John Davidson isn’t scared of many things, yet one look into the dark blue eyes of Heath Kane and John knew a different kind of fear for the first time. John couldn't be gay, at least not out and proud in his unit, even with Don't Ask, Don't Tell being repealed. He'd never been interested enough in any man to risk the fallout.

Heath Kane left home never wanting to return. The army-base town wasn't the best place for a gay kid to grow up, but his grandmother did her darnedest to make it good for him. Now he's paying her back for all her love. She’s getting older and needs help with the family restaurant, so he waits tables at the Corner Café while taking online courses to get his degree. Even though the army base provides lots of buff eye candy, he knows it’s best to keep his eyes to himself.

Yet neither Heath nor John can deny their attraction, and when John returns from a visit up North, he seems willing to act on their mutual interest. Are John and Heath willing to risk everything to hold each other?

NOTE: This book is part of the Why I Love... series.

Why I Love Waiters
Literary Nymphs Review
After visiting with his family in New York for a few days, Army Ranger Sergeant John Davidson returns to the military base in Georgia. John's personal mission is to discover if Heath Kane, the waiter at Corner Café John has been secretly lusting after for months, is gay and if the attraction is mutual. Turns out the answers are yes to both of John's questions.

Why I Love Waiters is the second book in the Why I Love series. The setting is ideal for the social issues highlighted in the plot; the southern small towns with a number of abusive homophobic people, as well as the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law. These events add drama to the otherwise humorous interaction between the characters. Also blended into the well written storyline are the characters from the first book Why I Love Geeks. I suggest reading the first book to fully appreciate Why I Love Waiters. The main theme clearly illustrated is the importance of love, in addition to friends and family support. John has a large family who accepts the honorable man that he is and welcomes Heath with open arms. Heath has an outspoken grandmother who loves him unconditionally. Secure in the knowledge that they truly love each other and are supported, John is able to make plans for a long term future with Heath.

T. A. Chase's creative writing style is communicative on numerous psychological levels, the closed minded attitudes of part of society, intellectual loveable characters that are particularly amusing, as well as being exceptionally sensual and the beautiful heartwarming happy ending. Why I Love Waiters is an absolutely marvelous saga that I thoroughly enjoyed.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Why I Love Waiters by T.A. Chase 24 février 2013

The first book in the series had a similar incipit, twink meets hunk, and so it was not a surprise, but Why I Love Waiters is as funny as it was Why I Love Geeks, and as an added bonus, we have the chance to read more about Chuck and Herb from book 1.

This story follows John, Chuck's brother, while he goes back to the small town where he is stationed and where he is falling in love with Heath. If he hasn't yet done a move on the cute guy is only since he needs to decide if risking his military career is a price he is willing to pay. But as soon as he has the first taste of Heath, he is totally sold, and nothing will prevent him to make the guy totally his own.

There is the layer of homophobia playing in the story, but it's also true that both Heath than John have a circle of supporting family and friends that has never given them the feeling to be alone; they have option, and finding an happily ever after is never a question, even if maybe they need to change their plans. The author decided to maintain the story on the light mood, she plays with her characters and with the reader, making this novel a little sexy, little funny thing, just a bit of this and that, without exaggerating with both ingredients. You smile and you coo on how cute Heath and John are together, doubling the cooing when Chuck and Herb come to visit: Heath and Herb together are almost too much, and that is the reason why Chuck and John give them little time to plot.

Nice, smooth, light read, for a R&R and lazy afternoon.

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Very disappointing sequel 3 septembre 2011

I really enjoyed "Why I Love Geeks" and the character of Herb - I gave that novel 5 stars. However, in this sequel, John and Heath did not grab me the same way. In fact, they annoyed me. Silly dialogue, unbelievable plot (lack of military research really threw me out of the story) and the over-the-top ending just put this book in the "do-not-read-again" pile. Shame, because I normally love TA Chase's books.

This starts out slow then fizzles out all together. There are some sweet moments but this short story is just flat disappointing

First off, what is up with the cover? Could the guy be any more cheesy? 'Why I Love Geeks' had a fine cover but this book is horrible. I normally am fine with purchasing physical books but there is no way that I would be seen carrying this one!

Secondly, Heath unfortunately sounds like an exact duplicate of Herb. The book just seems like an extension of 'Why I Love Geeks' and not a very good one at that. I was hesitant buying the book because of another not-so-good review but I figured it would be okay because I like T.A. Chase's work. Unfortunately, that isn't the case with this book. Had I read this book first I would have enjoyed it just fine, but sadly I didn't. I have read almost all, if not all, of T.A. Chase's work and I have to say that this one is at the bottom. Sad, because I normally give five stars for his work.

Third, the US Army does not salute inside except when reporting for duty. Yes, this book is a work of fiction, but if you are going to base it on a military unit, at least get the SIMPLE facts right.

Lastly, I thought T.A. Chase was a man? Someone needs to get a new editor. Has anyone noticed the bio at the end of this book and 'Why I Love Geeks'?

"T. A. Chase lives a life without boundaries. Being fascinated by life and how different we all are, she writes about the things that make us unique. She finds beauty in all kinds of love and enjoys sharing those insights. She lives in the Midwest with his partner of fourteen years. When she isn't writing, she's watching movies, reading and living life to the fullest."

'SHE lives in the Midwest with HIS partner of fourteen years.' Seriously? I may not be a writer and my grammar may suck, but even I wouldn't make this mistake! Also, why are they trying to change his gender? Is there something wrong with a man writing gay erotica? Does it not sell as well? We are reading about man/man relationships that include sex, I would think that a MAN would be the best one to describe the feelings and problems associated with this. Don't sell multiple prior books that list the author as male and then change it up. If he is transgender, say so, don't make it confusing for us readers!
