Présentation de l'éditeur

Wild Nights cuts through the illusions of modern spirituality into the depth of life before God. Impure, soaked with all bodily liquids, pierced by clear recognition of death, wide opened with the power of love - living as love - in any moment of daily life. If you do not choose to be a hermit, if you want to practice awakening within relationships, in the realm where sex and death are such powerful momentums - you'd better read this book, and not only once. —Rabbi Ohad Ezrahi Author, Paths of Empowerment

Meet Mykonos: scurrilous madman—and voice of truth. Wild Nights presents David Deida's remarkable account of his days with the unconventional teacher who revealed to him the deeper wisdom of the erotic path to the divine.

From our very first encounter to the "burden of bliss" that is his parting gift, Mykonos challenges our understanding of what makes a spiritual life. Brutally candid, he offers his teaching to anyone ready to listen, with an uncanny ability to see into the hearts and minds of his students better than they can their own. Charged with provocative scenes of unbridled passion and play, Wild Nights explodes with spiritual insights into our choice to "open as love, or close and suffer" … yogic sexual techniques including circular breathing and expanding feeling beyond the self and into the heart of a lover … and why, for some, full sexual expression is a requirement of spiritual maturation.

For its honest depiction of the spiritual teacher and student relationship—and the questions it demands we ask about our own sexuality—Wild Nights proclaims David Deida a guiding light in the often cloudy realm of sex and spirit.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Adds colour to the Deida oevre 11 avril 2007
Par Sebastian Opol - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Broché
Deida has written so many guides to emotion and spiritual growth, so it was refreshing here to get a much more colourful sequence of lessons. Though his own experiences with an intensely charismatic teacher, the book is a sequence of extraordinary anecdotes that inspire and entertain as well as teach. While I get a lot out of his other books, especially Finding God through Sex, this is a great companion book.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 shocking! excellent! 1 septembre 2005

this book is one of the best i`ve ever read, and i read my share. but then i deeply respect and admire david deida, and have experienced time after time that even reading his works can open ones heart up and give taste of the deeper realm.

this book has scenes that is quite interesting, to say the least - and it is a great test to "stay open, as love" or suffer from the hearts contraction, fear and aversion.

one of my late inner fascinations is the truth that we will have to accept lifes ambiguities. rarely can one find masters and teachers like ramana maharshi, for instance, which are nothing but saintly purity. krishnamurti is an example of a wise man, strongly illuminated and full of wisdom. then, another time, he is clearly full of prejudgement and aversion. so most people would say "oh, he is so wise and beautiful" (which is true), and other would say "he is an angry and judgemental old man" (which is also true).

this books exposes clearly that one will have to accept the complexities, and trust ones inner, deepest truth.

and of course, my short review can`t make justice to the richness and variety of insights. mostly it is about the heart, about love and openness. i will soon read it again, and if you believe you can get anything out of it (without retracting into judgemental attitudes or easy generalisations) i urge you not to hesitate to find a copy. i read it in a day, still digesting!

bon apetite!

1.0 étoiles sur 5 Nothing but a drunken orgy 21 mai 2012

I read David Dieda's book "Intimate Communion" and found it to be insightful and transformative - I believe in and experience deep love and sharing he conveys - he hits home on so many points about men and women. I was initially intruiged by the story-like essence of Wild Nights, but I am really disgusted by this book and perceive the "teacher", Mykonos, to be little more than a drunk sex addict who manipulates people at their deepest levels - through sex and the emotions, fulfillment and addictive rush of "love" that one can feel in sex. Although this is supposedly a work of fiction, its focus is on polygamous, sexually loose experiences.

I personally feel let down by this book - this is not about God and love, it is about delusion and the use of group-sex to artificially break down internal barriers - barriers that can be broken down in a truly loving and trusting relationship. In an age of sexual promiscuity (not to mention the rapid rise of sexually transmitted diseases) and addictions, this book does very little to foster love and integrity in love, through monogamy and commitment to yourself and another (or at least responsible polygamy...). It gives people a spiritual excuse to be irresponsible, doing what you want when you want - uncontrolled impulses. The message in this book is that having sex with multiple partners, in orgy-like settings, and leaving the person to whom you were previously committed to and loved, is the way to spiritual freedom.

There is nothing wrong with fantasies and I am not writing about sexual prudishness. But with David as the "spiritual leader" he is, what he has written in wild Nights may end up serving as a "guide" for others but where it really belongs is Penthouse written by another writer - or pen name. It truly makes me sad to have read this book- and yes, I read the whole thing - in hopes that David conveys some insights in the end that have integrity about what you can gain by loving one person wholly and fully. The book ends in the opposite of integrity with the "ever-so-wise" Mykonos pissing on David's foot after drinking his ump-teenth beer.

Unfortunately this book now taints the readings and the messages in David's other books (I started reading Dear Lover, which I like so far, and have the Superior Man in the queue.) I hope I can read them with openness, but now I wonder if I can trust David, is he really about having multiple sex partners to be able to express "love". Love is so much more than being able to comfortably watch your friends have sex with each other - love is about commitment and growing - not copping out and giving in to your sexual whims. If you value the heart of David's message in his others books about love, being open in your heart, and giving your presence in intimacy - then don't ruin it by reading this book.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Mixing sex with sacred, far from typical 13 août 2009

David Daida is a real sex guru in a healthy way. I've read three of his books and they all take the reader towards seeing sex as tantra, sacred, and/or enlightened activity. This is not new age-y, nor anything mystical-shmistical.

It's not your typical orgy, and it's a scene that I wouldn't recommend anyone try without a very seasoned guide. Even with a seasoned guide, someone could get hurt for a lifetime, as he describes toward the end of the book.

I read "The Way of the Superior Man" with less interest.

I feel his best is "The Enlightened Sex Manual: Sexual Skills for the Superior Lover." This explains why "men don't get it" and how they can. It is superior, definitely. Far above the typical, physical-level sex guide.

Marianne Williamson, Ken Wilber, Genpo Roshi and Lama Surya Das have all given well deserved endorsements on the back of this book.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Finding God in the midst of Chaos and Filth 3 octobre 2009
Par Sammy Angels - Publié sur Amazon.com

I must admit, I've been a big fan of David Deida for some time now. I had read the Way of the Superior Man and most of his other 'guidebooks', but I was always intrigued when I encountered passages from 'Wild Nights'. At last I decided to order the book, and I was not disappointed.

Following the guidebooks, one can easily skip over parts of life they don't like, parts that scare them, parts that make them feel dirty. This book grabs you by the spiritual balls, and won't let go until it's pushed your face through all the nitty gritty reality of what it means to be Love in this Red Realm of flesh, filth and human emotions.

This is spirituality in its rawest form. No New Age airy fairy crap, just the real deal. Bodily fluids, sex organs, fear, anger and jealousy, the stuff the average new ager tends to ignore as if it weren't there. It's not for the faint of the heart, only for those with the courage to take their practice to the next level. Are you ready to open amidst the chaos? Can you breathe the Big Lady down?

I believe it accurately portrays some of the very real obstacles one can face during a life of openness, pushing the limits of Love's capacity. And it shows that even the most 'advanced' practitioners/guru's still have their human kinks...

This vision, this room, comes and goes. You either open as love, or you close and suffer. Every thing will betray you. Your woman and friends will betray you. Your own body will betray you. Your entire life as you know it will one day disappear. Are you opening or closing? That is the only question no matter what appears. "e;
