I have not finished the book yet, however I read Bill Marriott's blog consistently ...I can say for a fact he responds to writers on his blog...If every Executive, Politician, and Leader had a blog and responded to it the way Bill Marriott does, we would have a better America...Communication is the key to change...if your voice is understood and respected you'll succeed in life...You have to respect yourself first....When you work for Marriott you are respected...This does not happen in all work places...I am so grateful to be part of the Marriott family...Patricia Patterson JW Marriott Starr Pass - Concierge

Very interesting book, and an easy read. I stay at Marriott hotels frequently, and once had the pleasure to meet Bill Marriott. It's interesting that the employees at Marriott really view their jobs as a career, and are very positive about the company. After reading this book, you understand why. Bill Marriott does not just describe his successes; he also describes his failures and lost opportunities, and the beginnings of Marriott with his parents root beer franchise. I can understand the great success of Marriott after reading this book. A very thoughtful, interesting book. I talked about the book with the staff at the Marriott where I was staying. Every Marriott employee, and everyone in the hotel industry, should buy and read this book.

Filled with valuable anecdotes. I'm in the medical field but the lessons to be learned from Bill Marriott's experiences and wisdom could be applied to any business. I really appreciate his focus on taking care of his employees with the understanding that taking care of his employees means better customer service. I feel if large health care organizations focused more on taking care of the physicians and nurses, patients would also reap the rewards.

Bill Marriott is not only a gifted executive, but a talented author. Without Reservations is an excellent read for anyone interested in the hospitality industry. The book details the growth of a marvelous corporation, founded and operated on the principle of focusing on the employees ("associates"), who in turn will take care of the customer. It is a formula that works.
