mistakes and lack of editorial judgement

This is not an inexpensive book, and given the price, certain flaws are unforgivable.
The description of the book in AMAZON mentions a beach front apartment in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, while the book mistakenly titles that spread as "Mexico: A Beach Apartment". It is clearly not a Mexican beach, it is Rio de Janeiro...that is a terrible editorial mistake.
Also, in a book with only thirteen spreads, it is an exageration to make three of those about private jets, two about private yachts, and two about homes in the same city (Kuwait). I am sure a designer like Pinto has much more material, and it would have been easy for the editors to find a more varied selection. If the reader is not particularly interested in private yachts, private jets, or Kuwait, he is left with relatively little contents of interest...just five spreads (one of which is about Pinto's own showroom and is only two pages long).
This has been a huge dissapointment, specially considering the talent of the designer. I was expecting so much more. I won't return the book because I happen to live in Peru, South America, and that makes things a little more difficult.

Alberto Pinto World Interiors Does Not Do This Designer Justice

Alberto Pinto is one of the great interior designer/decorators of our time. Previous books on his work produced by Rizzoli were carefully made and reflect his status. This latest volume from Flammarion simply does not do Mr. Pinto, nor the previous volumes,justice.
The padded cover is just silly. Is it supposed to express some idea of luxury? In fact it is quite cheese-y and better suited to a children's book.
Far worse than that design faux pas is the poor and sometimes risable translation from the French original.Sentences like "The entrance to an enormous shower whoes water falls like rain separates the exterior of the terrace from the very comfortable bathroom with dressing area." let us know that editing standards were quite lax. One sentence has 4 semi-colons before it is finally allowed to end. Run-on sentences are the rule in this text.
On the plus side the photography is up to previous standards and the contents give one a glimpse of his multi-faceted commissions - Jets and Yachts figure prominently.
There is definitely an aspect of "shelter porn" in this book as in other collections of Pinto's work for billionaire clients. This is the world of the 1% and you are invited to look and salivate!
For anyone interested in Mr. Pinto's work the place to start and,in my opinion, the best book on his work is Rizzoli's Alberto Pinto Classics. " Moderns" and "Orientalism", two other Rizzoli volumes, give a very rounded look at this designers range of styles and commissions.
For the die- hard Pinto fan "Alberto Pinto World Interiors" is a "should have" but hardly a "must have"
