5.0 étoiles sur 5My new favorite way to practice yoga9 avril 2014

I absolutely love these yoga cards. I go through bouts of using them daily. They are incredibly detailed with tons of beautiful pictures and full descriptions of poses and how to get into them, as well as modifications for less-strenuous versions of the pose. It is good to know though, that these cards have practically exactly the same material as the book "Iyengar Yoga" by Judy Smith. Same photos, same descriptions etc. I personally prefer the cards because it is much easier to do a routine by laying out the sequence instead of flipping through a book. There is a 28 sequence course, as well as therapeutic sequences for certain pains or illnesses. I haven't tried the therapeutic sequences much, but I have really enjoyed doing the 28 sequence course.
These cards taught me how to stand on my head, and several other poses I've never been able to do before. I cannot emphasize enough how great these cards are. Seriously, they have changed my life. I don't understand why this is not a more common way to practice yoga. I cannot afford the time or money to be driving around to yoga classes all the time, and this allows me to do it in my own home, but with enough direction that I don't feel like I'm just goofing around, or like I might do something stupid and accidentally hurt or strain myself.
The cards are big (6"x8") and glossy, and made from nice thick paper. They come in a nice little tin box as well. The only thing I do not like about these cards is that when I first got them, they smelled terrible. Like a plastic factory. I just left the box open for several days though, and it's all gone now. Don't let that stop you though! The cards are great!

While the cards themselves are well done (good photos & descriptions of Iyengar poses), there are ONLY 56 basic poses demonstrated (with modifications for beginners and the less flexible)...Two different cards list possible sequences for both regular and therapeutic practices. But with the title suggesting "100 step-by-step postures," I was looking for more poses that got beyond the basic Iyengar poses. (Rodney Yee, for example, already has a 50-card set of Iyengar postures, so not much new here...)

I will be teaching Yoga to kids and this is a great idea for helping students and letting them teach by picking a card. It arrived in time in brand new condition! I am very satisfied! Thank you!

I use these cards when I can't go to yoga class. They are big enough to do what you need to do plus the cards are In color, easy to see. Trust me you can still get a good workout too.

I just started to learn Yoga and these cards were very helpful! I put the cards in front of me and I can read how I should be standing/sitting.
