Présentation de l'éditeur

When the original version of YouTube Strategies went to #1 at Amazon, and continued to sell impressive numbers (and) to great reviews, I knew this book had her part in the marketplace and dialog. To my past readers and supporters, I can’t thank you enough.

Why the update for 2014? We’re seeing a rapid maturation at YouTube in areas that should be part of any YouTube Strategy - at any level. Some of these elements weren’t in the first book. They are in this one. In my history of producing Internet training (I’ve been online since before there was the Web), I’ve prided myself on creating content that lasted. Last year I made 4 different videos in the studio that I had to delete before I could publish them because of the changes being made a YouTube.

Live Video isn’t the only “new” thing for YouTube. From a fully integrated Social Engine (across Google Plus and the other social networks) to Premium (paid) content options, YouTube’s reach, and your potential impact with it, grows every day. YouTube keeps getting bigger and bigger - and her reach and impact continue to grow at an extremely impressive rate.

At the time of writing, YouTube reports seeing 100 hours of video uploaded to their site every single minute. I’m sure by the time this book goes to press, the number will go up. Note: this doesn’t include Live video on YouTube - another fast growing segment of what we’re watching online. Getting impact from your videos at YouTube is a much math problem as it is anything else. We address some of those issues here.

So, with that, I (re)release this book updated for 2014. At it’s core are the top 21 questions I get asked about YouTube (as well as a few that people should be asking). I am still asked these questions on a regular basis and I am still convinced that YouTube Strategies begin with a clear understanding of how YOU need to answer these questions in your own YouTube efforts. At the end of each answer is an even shorter summary and a few action items. Put them to good use - and TAKE ACTION.

After those 21 questions and answers, I offer some additional thoughts about what’s “next” at YouTube and offer a few additional chapters on the topics of automated tools for YouTube and how to produce the best possible looking videos - no matter what your budget may be.

Not happy. That's the best way to sum up my review of this ridiculous e-book. I feel like I paid Colligan money to lob his affiliate links at me.

Anyone familiar with internet marketing will recognize the phrase "keyword stuffing," and it takes all of about three pages to see that most of this content appears to be "re-purposed" from old web pages or PDFs or other internet drivel.

But, dear reader, I read the whole thing so you don't have to. Save your hard earned dollar. Don't believe me? Keep on reading.

The book is titled "YouTube Strategies 2014: Making and Marketing Online Video" And this is okay...if you're the type of person who calls fridge facts a recipe for success.

I say "fridge facts" because you'll only get a summary of things here. Classic Action Item example: "Embed your video in your blog for secondary traffic. This also acts a [sic] secondary alert to Google that your video is relevant and on topic." Applied to, say, an aspiring thoracic surgeon's how-to book, the Colligan approach would be "pass MCAT, residenyc [sic], start operating." Result: anybody can write an e-book if details and grammar aren't a consideration.

What should've been a two-day read turned into a nine day struggle. Honestly. I tried reading faster but the "author's" writing, sloppy grammar, lack of cohesiveness, and just outright repetitiveness made it an uphill battle the entire way. Not a single graphic appeared, not even a pie chart showing YouTube revenues. (Contrasting this with most internet marketers whose first slide is usually an affiliate earnings chart full of unbelievable sales. So, then, is this why you gave it 1 star, you ask? Read on.)

The book is mind-numbingly repetitive because you'll be reading along and come to the summary and realize that it's a rewrite of the previous paragraph. Didn't I just read that? Oh, wait...there weren't any misspellings in this paragraph so it must be different. Oh, okay.

Grammar and misspellings kick in after the intro, like the book was farmed out to some guy droiding through freelancer while living in his mom's basement. (Not that there's anything wrong with basements.) But (again) throw in the complete absence of graphics and you can see more of my unhappiness.

One of my all-time favorite gems from the book (I'm not making this up, it's in location 919 of 1712): "For example, including a message that sends people to an external link as text within your video is ideal because it presents no problems across problems."

And here is the big, whopping revelation: $71. That's the largest ad revenue check Colligan ever got from one of his videos on YouTube. Sounds like a successful expert to me!

In the end it's not my wasted money I'm upset about (well, ok, maybe a little bit). It's the fact that I wasted this much time reading something so worthless when all I would've had to do was read YouTube's Terms of Service to learn more.

I'm now convinced that anybody can write an e-book. Even worse, I'm now thinking that the esteemed internet marketer field's qualifications have been substantially lowered.

Crash.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Convenient source of practical YouTube information 13 février 2014

YouTube keeps getting bigger and bigger, and your potential impact with it grows every day, according to Paul Colligan in this short e-book. The platform keeps changing and evolving, with one of the latest aspects being Live video. Rather than attempting to provide a systematic description, the book is based around the 21 questions that the author is more frequently asked about YouTube, followed by a number of bonus chapters.

Some of the issues addressed by the author are:

• How to take advantage of the new YouTube Live options
• How to integrate a YouTube strategy with other social networks
• Search Engine Optimisation strategies and methods for YouTube videos
• How videos go “viral”, and whether you should aim for that
• The use of YouTube annotations and links
• Third party tools, and the advantages and disadvantages of using them

Some of the editing is a little bit rough, and there is some repetition in the content, but this book provides a convenient source of practical information about using YouTube which many readers will find very useful.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 This book gets to the point of how to leverage YouTube. 17 février 2014

I enjoyed Paul Colligan's style of authorship. This book gets to the point of what you need to know about leveraging YouTube, the second largest search engine on the planet, to make and market your online videos. No fluff here. Simple, tried and trusted strategies and methods of doing online video right. This book breaks it down for a new and seasoned YouTuber and answered most of the questions I might have had about YouTube and addressed topics I hadn't considered.

I discovered a bunch of interesting facts and reasons to publish via YouTube as well as some best practices. Paul provides some resources and tools for creation and automation that help the production of video content and distribution quite easy. I like that. Anything that would simplify these tasks makes for a worthy read

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A Good Read For Someone Who Is Not An Internet Marketer! 29 mai 2014

If you are interested in using YouTube for your marketing, and who doesn’t want access to so many viewers, Paul Colligan’s book, YouTube Strategies 2014, is a must. I am not an Internet marketer. I am a self-empowerment coach who needs social media to introduce the world to my videos, training and products. I can tell you Paul’s book is plain talk that anyone, yes even those of us without extensive internet experience, can follow, learn from and have a sense of what our next move should be and more importantly, how to do it! Thanks Paul…5 stars from me!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 GREAT READ - EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOU TUBE!! 31 janvier 2014
Par Patty Rutkowski - Publié sur Amazon.com

Paul Colligan is the podcast expert, but I didn't know he knew so much about you tube. The new you tube LIVE is explained, along with how it works with Google hangouts Live. But what else does Paul teach you in this book?

How to get a video up on you tube, how to optimize the video and your you tube channel for exposure, and how to get the video ranked on page one of Google.

And if that's not enough, Paul explains how you tube integrates with other social networks, G+, Facebook, Twitter and more for even more exposure.

Then he explains what you need to do to create a video...what equipment you need, what format, what software, how to make your video go VIRAL. He explains you tube channels and why you need more than one.

And finally, he tells you how you can MAKE MONEY WITH YOU TUBE. I am impressed with the thorough content in this book and would highly recommend it for beginners or those who are ready to take their you tubing to the next level.
