Jana Jasper was the one member of her family who lacked the gift of gab until magic entered her life. After saving the life of a boy she dubbed Peter, as in Pan, she made three wishes. One was to be able to speak, and after exchanging an innocent kiss, she can. Then, Peter disappears, and it looks as if her most special wish can not come true, and Jana dismisses the whole incident as a lonely girl with an imaginary playmate. Then, "Peter" reappears, at the grocery store, decked out like someone from a video game. At first, she can not believe her friend is back and is real, but it is true, Peter is real. He is Cavin Far Star, an alien who has defied his people to come and warn Jana in hopes of being able to prevent her home world from being taken over by his planet's fleet. Though Jana is thrilled to see Cavin, it is so not a good time for her as she is now a senator, and needs to avoid scandals, like having handsome alien men stay the night. Unfortunately, there is an alien assassin who makes the Terminator look friendly, and he is out for Cavin, and now, Jana's blood. Assaulted on multiple fronts, Jana and Cavin are in a race against time to save the world so that they, and everyone else on Earth, can have a future.
**** It might be safe to say this is one of Susan Grant's best yet. Despite the comical title, this is a thrilling action/adventure with a healthy shot of romance. There is plenty of humor, but just the right amount. Take the elements of every good sci-fi romance and add in a political thriller for spice, and you would have part of the recipe for this. There is a secret ingredient, but that is the author's own special touch, something that can not be replicated, just enjoyed. ****
