I like stories with a depth, an insight into the complex world we live in, especially the different cultures we know little but that are having an ever increasing impact in our rapidly globalizing world, where war, terror and crime are almost becoming inescapable. David Robbins did a wonderful job taking the reader into the epicenter of it all, which is the Middle East or the convergence of Europe, Asia and Africa. Through "The Empty Chair" we are supplied with a rich array of characters, a plot to die for and a setting that is rich and colorful. It is a package I really enjoy, which reminds me of "Triple Agent Double Cross". Thank you David Robbins for this masterpiece.

Every chapter of this book was enjoyable. Harper Lee was at his most knowing, deep, penetrating, humorous best. The voices of the characters are rich and real, and scenes and scenarios are magnificently introduced and described. This book deserves its status as a worthy piece of literature. I see traces of it in The Usurper and Other stories, The Five People you meet in Heaven. I will read it again and again.

I can picture this story as a blockbuster. The Innocent is one of the best Baldacci story I have read for a while. He showed his mastery again in scene-setting and did a great job with visual imagination. The role of Robie in all his interactions and the other characters in the novel show characterization came out well. The character of Robie reminds me of Gavin in the thriller Triple Agent, Double Cross, who like Robie, is in great shape but equally rugged and soft inside. Complicated though Robie is, his purpose is good. And since he is someone crosses the paths of evil people, the circumstances he finds himself in make him the hero he cannot shy away from becoming in order to survive and stop the bad guys. In short, The Innocent is a story to read.

In One Person is an interesting story written on an interesting premise that has been very little explored. Overall it is a well-crafted story, with Irving at its best once again. It is a piece that deserves to be treated with respect. This well-observed story is replete with witty lines, a great plot, colorful setting and fast pacing. I will move on to Triple Agent, Double Cross, which is another recommendation. So far it is making me have trust in the person who recommended them.

Brad Meltzer's The Fifth Assassin fulfills essential elements like suspense, disbelief, intrigues, surprises, tenacity and depth that are essential in any good thriller or mystery story. I finished the book not only satisfied but also being more informed. With the exception of Brad stretching things a little too far in some instances, The Fifth Assassin comes out as a well-rounded story.

Overall, I found this book to be well written with a gripping plot, great characterization, an absorbing setting and amazing beautiful dialogue. The fact that it captured my full attention right from the early chapters makes it a work I will like to return to is a work to. Like in Triple Agent, Double Cross, or The Key to Rebecca, The Fifth Assassin is suspense full and fast-paced.

Through The Ophelia Cut, John Lescroart once again proved his mastery of the thriller genre. The quality of the plot, the depth of the characters and pace of the story made the reading The Ophelia Cut a pleasurable experience. Smooth writing, fabulous descriptions, amazing dialogue and gripping pacing. Like Triple Agent Double Cross, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, or The Kite Runner, it kept me going until the final page.

I had difficulties putting this book down simply because I was too good to be set aside. It is a unique and quite as bizarre story. Nevertheless, I consider this book to be memorable, highly disturbing, touching, fascinating and quite very funny. However, for mild, strong or weak stomachs who love good reads, Disciples of Fortune is another novel to read. Overall, Running with Scissors is well written and reads in a smooth manner.

Written at a time that Apartheid was still very strong, Coetzee came up with a philosophical account of life in that environment, which in this case is a surreal post-civil war South Africa with all the horrors that come with the aftermath of a civil war, especially an African civil war. However, Michael K. makes the effort to shield himself from the harshness of his environment by taking on a life of existential survival. In fact the lesson from this book applies to all environments or situations where society makes it difficult for a private person to live a personal life that is independent of the forces of the environment. Other recommended reads are Disciples of Fortune, Disgrace, The Usurper and Other Stories. I like books like this for the thought-provoking and insightful nature of the story.

Anybody who does not believe everything written in the bible will find this book interesting., and even those who believe in the gospel truth of the bible and have an open mind about it will still enjoy the probing nature of the book. The author said it himself that he does not believe or disbelieve what he wrote because they are more of the opinions of others. He used the particular phrase of "it is said that " in presenting his case.

It should be noted that the book is written to present the cases of those who held the belief that Jesus didn't die in the cross and began a bloodline hat survived him and still survives until today, and those who do not hold that belief. And since the Christian world does not hold that belief, the book had to focus on presenting the case of those who support that belief even if it is far-fetched. I am a Christian and I do not believe the skeptics, still I find this book interesting. It lets one get an idea of how things were during the early days of the church, an unsettling situation which could not be devoid of the emergence of myths. What is myth or reality about the life of Jesus is a question of faith. Still this book comes with Disciples of Fortune, The Da Vinci Code, The Messianic Legacy as that captivated me. Overall, this is a very easy book to read with very a very captivating plot.

Right from the opening, Michael Connelly's "The God's of Guilt" gripped my attention and held me down all the way to the last page. He has a masterful plot in this story and the details even though plentiful is dished out in palatable doses that did not making the reading labored at all. The characters are also well-developed and are very true to life, which brought to mind Gavin and these he interacted with in "Triple Agent Double Cross". Besides the credible characters , and great plot, the narrative flows and the settings are very credible. Michael of Connelly has a sure winner in this book. Kudos.
