This miniseries has to do with the different type of triangle. The type that I am familiar with as a former visitor to Georgia's Buford triangle formed by the intersection of I-985 and I-85. Here drivers can get lost for hours and when they emerged they seem to be hours older.

Shipping tycoon Eric Benirall (Sam Neill) has been losing ships and we suspect more than that. So he puts together an unlikely team of obscure experts to try and figure out what has been happing to his ships. He offers each 5 million dollars or nothing. The team consists of Howard Gregory Thomas (Eric Stoltz) a reporter for the Observer, Stan Lathem (Bruce Davison) a psychic, Emily Myredith Patterson (Catherine Bell), a Deep ocean resource engineer, and Bruce Geller (Michael E. Rodgers) a professor of meteorology.

Together with the help of victims such as Meeno Paloma (Lou Diamond Phillips) a Greenpeace save the wails activist. And using some firsthand experience they try to fathom the problem and may have discovered something more sinister.

A very remarkable book written in the 13th century. Many secrets were reviled when Marc returned. And may interesting explanations of things like the origin of cinnamon.

Marco writes well enough of his travels and you feel that you are there. You can actually follow the trail if you have a map. He describes the flora and fauna of each region and describes the economics and industry of the region.

Example: "The women of the superior class are in like manner free from superfluous hairs; their skins are fare, and they are well formed."

It is interesting to see how little has changed from Marco Polo's 13th century and now.

Harper Lee was encouraged to write some of her childhood memories. What in the beginning seems like the story of three childhood friends in depression era Macomb, Alabama, turns out to be packed with insights to the makeup of human kind.

This story is intriguing on many levels from the history of the area to the stereotyping of people. Most of all every turn was a surprise as told in the first person from the view of Scout Finch. And instead of telling the story in a six year old vocabulary she uses an exceptionally large repertoire to describe the people and events. This story is not as slow passed as one may guess from first glance as every remark and every action will be needed for a future action.

A major controversial part of the story is the trial of Tom Robinson. Hoverer this is just a catalyst to help Scout understand the nature of people including her father Atticus and you will find that as important as it is it is just a part of the story with other major characters such as Arthur "Boo" Radley.

Even thought it appears that Scout is the recipient of the insights, I believe we the reader is the real recipient.

I can truly say that this book has changed my outlook in life.

Henry (Eric Bana) a research library is greeted by a young lady named Clare (Rachel McAdams.) Clare knows Henry. In fact, she has been in love with him all her life. Therefore, Clare knows Henry. However, Henry does not know Claire. Yet Henry knows the Clare knows him and why.

After we dispense with who knows whom and why, after we dispense with how it is possible or improbable. We get to the point this is an extremely complex and intriguing love story without all this sappiness that distracts from a very good viewing experience.

I have had the good luck or misfortune of watching this movie before reading the book. You can see from the pacing of the movie that there was a terrific effort to adapt and include the highlights and the essence of the book to the point that they are duplicates and not trying to just make a movie with the names and places.

I have only seen the Blu-Ray version. They took great pains to describe how wonderful Blu-Ray is before the movie starts. However, there is an appalling lack of DVD goodies or extras like a voiceover by the actors or directors.

Some movies just deserve top billing without having to dissect it to find out why.

This is an early adaptation from play to film; being a different media one should be judged with that criterion in mind. Now you may pick on sound and picture quality; Yet again one needs to keep the time of production and copy quality in mind.

I also think that this makes a better stage play and the variations in performances intriguing. However as with listening to the radio in the car, it is the best we can do to keep the memory of the actual orchestra. So when we have to listen to Wayne Newton, we can still imagine "Mack die Messer" No time in 113 minutes for all the songs.

This play was not anti-Nazi in nature. The Nazi regime did not like this play because it showed how illegitimacy could rise to respectability. And as they say in "Harry Potter" books, "you know who," thought that this was too close to the truth.

One of my favorite parts is the marriage of Mackie Messer (Rudolf Foster) a tad pernicious character to Polly (Carola Neher). They collected items from all over to create the perfect environment.

If you are into movies that irk Nazi's try "Westfront 1918 (1930)" Directed by Georg Wilhelm Pabst. You may have to search but it is out there.

Anyway, this is a good movie and worth watching. And watching again.

This movie was probably made because the US border patrol was a popular subject at the time of making this movie. However it is too esoteric to make any point. Too morose to make any connection with the audience. Too disjointed of have any continuity of thought. The cinematography may work if one was blood thirsty.

If you want to see Tommy Lee Jones in a good movie try "The Fugitive" (1993). Or if you really like campy then try "Volcano" (1997).

I came late to the series as I do not watch this type of program on T.V. It has a tendency to pass time and never get anywhere.

Once you realize there is just a more recent "Days of Our Lives" and quit looking for a cohesive story, you can enjoy each unique episode. Just understand the there are no great insights just fun watching how they put it together. We have to create a psychological situation an antagonist and let the main character solve the situation all in 42 minutes.

Looks closely and periodically there is product name recognition like "Cisco Systems."
On season two they did the one thing that really irks me; Episode 12 and 13 have a "To be Continued".

For those people contemplating the series or just interested here is a quickie overview of Eureka (2006 TV series). The down contains mostly scientific types that work for secret government project in a hidden facility nearby. Someone or thing is always getting into trouble (mostly from experiments) and need a down-to-earth sheriff Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) to help interpret and solve the problem. Jack has problems of his own trying to relate to women, including his teenage daughter Zoe (Jordan Hinson). On the sinister side is some mysterious cabal who's only known member to us is psychiatrist Beverly Barlowe (Debrah Farentino).

On season two things just get better. Other programs revert to old formulas and rehashes. This series becomes more intriguing.

This is one of those films that everyone thought he/she saw. This is of course because of all the popular actors and directors. Of those viewers that have seen this film they will never forget.

The default version is the U.K. version. However, you can see the different versions compared on the DVD extras. Speaking about extras, one of the best extra is that of the abbreviated play being read voice-over the film. I defiantly ordered the book.

This film is presented in black and white. You can see how tight the presentation is without a wasted word or glance. The Music is also one of the main characters of the film. I only remember the Blu-ray version so I cannot tell the quality of the other versions.

Even though the book looks from the view of Major Calloway (Trevor Howard in the film) and the film from the view of Holly Martins, it is the character of Sergeant Paine (Bernard Lee) that we find endearing.

Holly Martins (Joseph Cotton) an out of work novelist (Westerns) is offered a job in post war Vienna by his friend Harry Lime (Orson Welles). When Holly arrives he finds he is late for Harry's funeral. The authorities are besmirching Harry's memory. Harry's girl (Alida Valli) after hearing of a mysterious third man at Harry's car accident suggested that Harry's death may not have been an accident.

Now it is up to Holly to clear Harry's name. We may be in for a few surprises.

It is easy to just say, "This is a classic."What makes it the classic is the formula and people (Directed by Howard Hawks). There is the standard 50'sw sci-fi prolog. You are set up as they go to investigate a crash in the snow. The investigators hold hands in the snow to figure out the size of the downed plane under the ice and find it has a peculiar shape. From there you know it can only get better.

Do not expect the book story. Nevertheless, do expect blood, fire, and sinister doings. There are naïve scientists, dubious airmen, and a generator running out of fuel.

By the way, while you are at it just whose side is Dr. Arthur Carrington on?

And does Nikki just scream a lot or does she usually bring up the true nature of the threat?

Any way you slice it or dice it this movie holds its own up against the bug pictures like "THEM!"

I have to say that I came to this novella "Who Goes There?" by John W. Campbell by seeing it on the credits of one of my favorite 50's Sci-fi movies with James Arness, "The Thing from Another World" (1951). Of course the movie had to stay true to its time and was loosely based on this story it still stands as a great presentation of its own. In 1982 John Carpenter took it on himself to add a few more of the original elements of the story. Unfortunately he had to bow to the gooey gory monster era and missed much of the original story including the fact that our antagonist was able to read minds and project thoughts. Not to distract from the two movies but it would be nice if someone tried again to portray this story. Carpenter also leaves his movie with an excellent potential for a sequel "Two things are better than one".

We find that thousands of years ago a rocket crashed and was buried in the Polar Regions. It was found due to a magnetic disturbance. On extraction there is an accident. We find a being from another world and another time. The being has powers of deception and shape shifting. Yet the story is not really of supernatural beings as it is of the people and their relationship to each other. As with many great mysteries it is always the last person you suspect. That is one of the strong points of Sci-Fi, not the technology as it will come about soon enough; what it is really about is how we deal with our fellow humans under duress.
