Good formula Sub movie, 24 juillet 2011
This movie is fun to watch as it has all the elements and "subplots" seen in most Sub movies. They did not go overboard with excess mush or gore. The acting is good enough that you feel that you are there. The action and suspense is constant with no lagging or lingering. I am not going to critique the story incase you have not seen the movie. It would be nicer if they had shown the pictures of the actors with their names in the credits instead of just names on a blank screen.

The truth about twins, 23 juillet 2011
Julius Benedict (Arnold Swarzenegger) a genetically perfect person has been raised on a secluded island and learned about the world through books. Now he finds out the somewhere out there he has a twin. He must seek out his twin that may be in trouble. Vincent Benedict (Danny Devito) the twin may not be quite as identical as he was the leftovers of the experiment. But brotherly love and a sense of adventure lead them to search out their mother. What will Arnold and Devito learn on the journey? One of the highlights is the close up shot of Arnold after his first physical experience with the opposite sex.

To be Blunt it is just fun to experience, 23 juillet 2011
Based on a short story "Adjustment Team" by Philip K. Dick and adjusted for the big screen by George Nolfi, this is one fun chase scene after another. If you look further into the story you can find layers of deeper meaning which are thinly veiled from the viewer. However the superficial story of lovers destined to be together and assisted by friends from another reality is quite enough to carry this movie. Looking closely at this film you'll notice that many of the people are not really actors there actually politicians and other famous people. However the filmmakers selected just the right actors to play the characters and the actors do not overwhelm the characters they are playing; so you to imagine yourself as part of the story and find yourself kibitzing. I missed this at the theater but did pick it up on Blu-ray and the particular DVD that I watched had a few interesting extras such as: Deleted and extended scenes The labyrinth of doors: interactive map of New York Leaping through New York Destined to be Becoming a Elide Feature Commentary with/Director George Nolfi Also included extras or things like: My scenes D-box I have to confess that only took advantage of the commentaries. There are no new insights but it is nice to know what Nolfi was thinking.

Alice oops Flynn in wonderland, 23 juillet 2011
What would computers appeared like to the uninitiated, 20 plus years ago? Even as we watch this remake of Alice every one knows that computers were getting smaller even then. But this is a fun romp with love and loyalty, and now with time campiness. The nasty old MPC (Master Control Program) wants to rule the world vis-à-vis remove human contamination or at the least play like "Colossus: The Forbin Project" (1970). Only the "Users" (a loose term invented by the moviemakers for programmers) can defeat him. Flynn (Jeff Bridges) and a hand full of loyal programs including Tron (Bruce Boxleitner) will attempt to do so running into many quasi computer parts along the way. Will they succeed or will their side issue with the lovely Yori (Cindy Morgan) sidetrack them from their mission. Jeff Bridges looked cute in those days and David Warner (Master Control Program Voice) had just enough touch of evil for a Disney picture.

Would have been better if Joan Crawford played Trog., 23 juillet 2011
Joe Cornelius, who played in such films as "File of the Golden Goose" (Gordie) with Yul Brynner, was selected to upstage Joan Crawford as that multi dimensional character (Trog). You have seen this story a million times. Innocent cave creature is tormented by child let lose on it by sadistic anthropologist. The poor creature must "play ball" or pay the consequences. Can't wait for the sequel where they have Joe Cornelius Vs the Piltdown man with William Shatner.

Two willows entwined, 23 juillet 2011
When the Romans pulled out of the English isle they left a power gap and a divided land that was ripe for the picking by the ruthless Irish. Growing up in this turmoil is Tristan. Left for dead he is nursed back to health by Isolde. They find each other only to be pulled apart by loyalty and duty. The story has many parallels to tales of King Arthur and other Celtic tales. It looks like a tad of Seigfreid was to send in also. Two outstanding things that make the film first class besides the story and cinematography (filmed in Ireland and Prague, Czech Republic) is the acting of Rufus Sewell and the music by Anne Dudley. People will want the soundtrack.

This movie has the feel of the book, 23 juillet 2011
One day a mysterious person comes to stay at an inn ran by a boy and his mother. It is obvious that this stranger led a rough sea going life. What was not obvious is that events with his previous associates would eventually lead to adventure and "Treasure Island." Of course nothing can replace the book "Treasure Island" by Robert Louis Stevenson. However this movie comes closest. I also have a copy of Treasure Island (1934) because that is what I watched as a kid and thought of it as a classic. But Wallace Beery can not come near Charlton Heston as Long John Silver. What you do not want to waste your time on is Treasure Island (1950) with Bobby Driscoll. This version is chopped up. People are missing. And the story is so sweet that you don't recognize the plot. If you are or have kids you do not want to miss "Muppets Treasure Island" with Tim Curry (1996).

An overview of crafts and craft tools in Ireland, 23 juillet 2011
This is not a how-to book. However it does show close-ups of people in the process of doing crafts. There are also pictures of tools used in the various crafts. The photographs are mostly black and white with a small color section (125). There are 440 illustrations. There are columns of information to go with each craft. Crafts coved include textiles, stonework, woodwork, (Willow, rush and straw), lather, metalwork, pottery, glassware, candle making, fly-tying, and rural life. Makes a good coffee table book.

Fun and passes time, 23 juillet 2011
Exceptional actors in a formula fish out of water movie. The title of the movie tells it all. Some perverse stock trader brothers bet that anyone with the correct position and environment can be a success. Standard jokes and predictable ending. Don Ameche did a good job in this movie as one of the brothers. However he really excels as Gino in the movie "Things Change" (1988). Things Change DVD ~ Don Ameche

Up to hallmark quality, 23 juillet 2011
This is just a standard Hallmark film which used its bevy of standard Hallmark actors and the standard hallmark music. There is the standard dark stranger or two. And the estranged brother. Throw in a Ménage à Trois. We have swordplay, pistol play, flying machines, horsing around, poison wells, greedy sheiks, and the kitchen sink. Deep in the desert is a brilliantly lit gold door everybody wants to know what's behind it most people think it's just gold but of course we know better. Let's follow the four hour long struggle to see who gets the gold who gets the girl and who gets the shaft. If you're use Hallmark movies it's a good way to pass time. If not you may have trouble with some of the dud characters with the sophomoric dialog and the reuse props. But we need to look beyond that and concentrate on the half hearted message. Hallmark Collector Set V.1 (6-Movies)
