Something else..., 2 avril 2013
If you’re interested in ‘something else’ regarding urban fantasy, this book’s for you! Not knowing what an incredible world and story Stacia Kane would create I stumbled into her Downside Ghosts/Chess Putnam series. Sex, drugs and ghosts in a dystopian/paranormal world. Raw and shameless. Incredible worldbuilding and characters!

Interesting..., 29 mars 2013
This is a sweet short story. A quick read that leaves you nevertheless with a happy feeling. I was very surprised by the choice of point of view here. The male protagonist - a patient, very understanding and yet realistic man - leads us through the events and let's us see how he coaxes Brooke to trust him. Nice start for a young author.

A journey through time, 2 septembre 2012
I loved Masques and with it seeing Briggs evolution. Masques isn't perfect, but it is a lovely story showing Briggs incredible imagination. Some might say the story isn't fluid enough but actually, it's exactly what I like about the book. Briggs explains in her foreword that she changed the beginning but would have been forced to rewrite the whole story if she wanted to create a book that was on a level with those she writes today. Masques is different, a rough gem if you want but nevertheless precious. It's fantasy and espionage and the believe in good triumphing over evil.

Good against evil..., 29 août 2012
What I really liked in this book was the angle, of concentrating on let's say more basic fantasy - demons and human nature, good against evil, without forgetting that the world is not just black and white but that there's plenty of gray in between. Moira may be born a witch, which would make her evil according to some characters, but she's good at heart. Our actions define us, and not birth. At least that was the message I felt, and appreciated.

Beautiful..., 29 août 2012
Thanks to Maggie Stiefvater's writing, which is poetic and expressive, it was easy to spend time with Grace and Sam - and I enjoyed every minute of it. What a sweet love story. Beautiful work.

Darker, faster..., 10 mars 2012
I really liked this book, had trouble 'putting' it down. The story is tense and pulls you away from reality. The world and the werewolves Briggs creates are amazing, sometimes so close it almost feels as if you could touch their fur. But...yes, one notices Charles problem, that he really wanted to discuss with Anna...and well, that conversation never came up...it's true, it was something major regarding their bond and it should have been handled differently. For some that might be a buffer with a look at the Anna-Charles realtionship. Well, it didn't bother me that much that the discussion was a victim of circumstances. ;) The story, the book is so tense... I really can't complain.

Kate is great, 25 février 2012
Through her style Ilona Andrews lets Kate Daniels appear absolutely alive. Kate is a rather ordinary girl - despite a weird parentage - that struggles with everyday life in an incredible, alternative world. Sarcasm, clever comebacks, the right dose of magic, fighting and romance - this series lacks nothing. Can't wait to read the next book.
