5.0 étoiles sur 5 The most thorough and detailed book about healing through food, 16 mars 2014

If you're following a paleo or AIP diet, this book will guide you to personalise your diet to suit your specific needs. Aglaée Jacob describes everything about the digestive system from A to Z in a very clear and easy to understand way.

I have The Paleo Approach, Practical Paleo, Mickey Trescott and Anne Angelone's books. This book is that I was missing, filling in the details and blank spaces.

For anyone battling Hashimoto's hypothyroidism or any other auto-immune disease this book is essential reading.

Being healthy starts with a change of mental-emotional attitude. This book helps get you there.
Stacey has had a very hard time, but she has found a way to get over it and be positive and healthy again.

You will recognise a lot of the painful stuff about being chronically ill. It will probably make you cry. But the message here is that you can take control over your life again and that you don't need to be a victim. That is VERY empowering.

Great collection of short stories, next to Runaway the best collection I've read. The autobiographical non-fiction (3 storeis at the end) I found less engaging, as always, fiction is better than life.

Arianna's voice and compositions are perfect, ethereal, deeply soothing and moving. She uses instruments, melodies and texts from all over Europe, making this a very interesting and worthwhile collection.

After reading other important books about thyroid illness, like Janie Bowthorpe's "Stop The Thyroid Madness" and Mary Shomon's books, I came across this title through the STTM European patient forum (NTHeurope).

Dr Haskell has researched thyroid, adrenal and breast disease very thoroughly and has spent decades working with Hashimoto patients. He combines patient experience with the most in depth and holistic study into the nature of this particular condition. His book offers a wealth of vital information about the cause, the particularities and most importantly the cure for Hashimoto's. He is very all-round and his approach is based on medical research as well as naturopatic knowledge. The advice he gives is very specific and the best I've read so far.

In this book, you will read about the workings of the hormonal system, about the relationship between thyroid disease, adrenal dysfunction and breast disease, it will sum up what has been found in medical research and through experience with patients, and it will show the flaws of the standard treatment for thyroid conditions, it will also talk about other underlying causes like Candida and allergies, and it will give you information about diet and supplements. But most specifically: it is the only book I've found so far which gives a cure for Hashimoto's.

Most other books talk about Hashi's as a hypothyroid condition with and auto-immune angle, never explaining what exactly happens when you have Hashimoto's or how you can stop the auto-immune attack. Dr Haskell has found out some very specific things about the condition and he proposes a very specific approach to healing it. Bottom line: Hashimoto's should not be treated the way other thyroid disease is treated. For example: natural thyroid hormone and iodine supplements are actually bad for Hashimoto's. So is eating gluten.

I recommend watching the video's on his website, they contain most of the information of the book and are told in a very clear way:

[...]

After reading the book, I decided to start treatment with Dr Haskell, which is possible also long-distance, because no one else seemed as knowledgeable and no other doctor would actually help me to cure this disease. I am now a week into the treatment and already feeling better. But the treatment takes months, and it depends on your overall health and on other, underlying conditions when and if you will be cured. In my case, there is an underlying severe Candida problem which will take a while to be healed. But the consultations, the information I am getting and the long list of supplements, vitamins and hormones to take do inspire my confidence that I will get there.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Indespensable information for thyroid patients, 5 avril 2012
Achat vérifié(De quoi s'agit-il ?)
If you are hypothyroid and still not feeling healthy and fit, even though your doctor tells you you are all right, this book will explain why. It also talks about the connection thyroid-adrenal glands, which is very important. Many thyroid patients suffer from adrenal dysfunction (= a shortage of the hormone Cortisol) without knowing.

There is much more to thyroid disease than just taking Levothyroxine (=T4 hormone) and getting tested for T4 values and TSH in the blood. Over the last years, much more has become known about thyroid conditions, but general medicine is slow to pick up on it. The standard medical treatment is insufficient and outdated. This is why patients need to educate themselves (and their doctors) in order to really get better (and not just get by).

The information in this book is of vital importance to anyone suffering from a thyroid condition. I would recommend it as the best starting point if you are starting to read up on your condition. The references to other books, websites and patient forums are also invaluable. Also check out the Stop The Thyroid Madness website, which is really good and gets updated with all the latest information.

This book talks about how the hormonal system works and what is making you sick. It talks about regular treatment and alternatives. It gives information about supplements and food. It tells you how to interpret your lab test results and what tests you should take. And more. The book also includes the most comprehensive list of symptoms (thyroid and adrenal) I have come across. This is really important, for as you start reading these lists you will recognise so many symptoms that previously you might have thought were unrelated or had a different cause. When I read those lists I realised that I hadn't even been aware of many of the symptoms - I just thought these things were either normal, or part of my bad physique or I hadn't paid close enough attention to my body because of the overpowering fatigue I suffered.

Just one, even more recent, point should be added: the treatment of Hashimoto's disease. If you have been tested for thyroid antibodies, and really everyone with thyroid issues should, and have been diagnosed with Hashimoto's the book you need to read in addition to this one is "Hope For Hashimoto's" by Dr Alexander Haskell. He is the only one so far who has proposed a successful cure for Hashimoto's and his book is also full of additional information about adrenals, breast disease, and very specific supplements. Dr Haskell's book shows an in depth study about the particular nature of this condition which he has conducted through a few decades of medical research. His website contains video seminars which are very enlightening: [...]

Very importantly if you are a Hashimoto patient like me: natural thyroid hormone will make your condition worse (see Dr Haskells' video's or book for the explanation), and so will taking Iodine supplements (or Kelp), eating gluten and probably also eating cow's milk products. I tried all of the above and fully agree with his opinion.
