I have visited the Dresden Area on many occasions to travel around on the various narrow gauge railways in the area. The "Molli" in Bad Doberan is particularly interesting. This for me was well worth buying because it gave me the history of each of the lines concerned that I had travelled on. Definitely worth buying !!

I am old enough to remember trolleybuses in London. Indeed I was born in Isleworth and a trolleybus depot was actually located next to my brother's school there. My mother used to take me to different places by trolleybus around Hounslow and Kingston-upon-Thames. This book is an excellent souvenir of those days. Until I bought it I was totally unaware that there were so many different types of London trolleybus. For those interested in trolleybuses this is a very good read !!

As I used to spend 4 weeks of my Summer Holiday in Edinburgh when a teenager a lot of my time was spent in the loco sheds of Edinburgh as I was a big railway enthusiast. The Scots were very strict about who could visit the sheds. Fortunately my Uncle was a railwayman (as I later became !!) and as a result I was welcome providing I didn't get "run over". This book features the 3 Edinburgh sheds that I got to know so well viz 64A St Margarets, 64B Haymarket and 64C Dalry Road. Sadly by the time I was old enough to visit sheds on my own Haymarket had become diesel only. That said a lot of the locos featured in 64A, 64B and 64C I saw for myself and for me this is perfect souvenir of those days !!

When I was a teenager I used to spend 4 weeks of my Summer Holiday in Edinburgh. I used to buy a "Freedom of Scotland" Railway ticket for 2 weeks and travel the "rails". One day I took a train to Berwick with the intention of travelling over to St Boswells before going back to Edinburgh on the Waverley Route. Much to my surprise a very pristine V2 2-6-2 No 60955 backed onto the one coach that formed our train. Needless to say the powerful loco had no problem with the schedule along this very scenic route !! This book brought back very happy memories !! For anyone with an interest in railways and this part of Scotland it is a "must buy" book !!

As a child I used to spend my Summer Holidays in Edinburgh. I was put on the train at Kings Cross by my Mum or Dad and collected at Edinburgh Waverley by my Uncle. Under "pain of death" I was told not to leave my reserved seat except for the usual calls of nature !! There was much to see on the way north including the Eyemouth Branch train of one coach only headed by a J39 at either Berwick-upon-Tweed or Burnmouth. I was always fascinated by this train, but sadly the railway closed before I could travel on it. I did get to Eyemouth by bus once and took a photo of a freight train heading for the East Coast Main Line (ECML). The other place that caught my eye was East Fortune. My first ever flight was on a Vanguard o Edinburgh. At the time the runway at Turnhouse Airport in Edinburgh wasn't robust enough for the extra weight of Vanguards and so East Fortune Airfield ex RAF was turned into a temporary airport. This is an excellent book for those who remember the ECML in Scotland from the 1960's !! Recommended !!

This covers one of the many railway lines (Redhill to Tonbridge) that I used as a boy and since. As usual the Middleton Press have provided a comprehensive analysis of each station on the route. Well worth buying if you are from the area that it covers !1

This is a good photo album of the London Underground particularly in respect of Sub-Surface Stock. The only disappointment for me was the lack of photographs of the standard tube trains that eventually went to the Isle of Wight in 1967. These were certainly still running on the Piccadilly Line in 1955 !!

This book is a MUST HAVE for anyone who was a railway enthusiast in the 1960's. It gives a full listing of where each British Rail Steam Loco was allocated. My main area of interest is the Southern and Scottish Regions and it has helped me considerably with my photo collection from the days of steam. Absolutely wonderful !!

I spent many happy holidays in Scotland as a child and teenager. Being a train nut I used to travel on the Waverley Route at least twice a holiday. This was one of Dr Beechings worst decisions and he made many !! Anyone who loved this railway line should buy this book and the accompanying two volumes

5.0 étoiles sur 5 The Government of he Day should be ashamed !!, 24 avril 2014
Achat vérifié(De quoi s'agit-il ?)
An excellent book which covers a railway line that I spent many happy holidays travelling on !!
It actually features the railway station (Portobello) that I used virtually daily on those holidays. I only used buses once it had closed. This is a railway that should never have been closed. The decision to close it was appalling and the Government of the day, amazingly a Labour one, should hold their heads in shame at sanctioning a poor case by Dr Beeching !!
At considerable cost this poor decision has been put right and in 2015 the whole of the route covered by this book will reopen !!
