The Boys of Bel Ami de Howard Roffman
The Boys of Bel Ami de Howard Roffman
It can seem surprising that the wonderfully and skillfully photographed photo-books of young male nudes Bel Ami's series of such homoërotic gems seem to have so little popularity in English Canada (no longer regularly available even from that paragon of gay literature distribution, Little Sisters in Vancouver, from checks of that firm's WWW site in 2005 and 2006, the original time of writing this review), but, thankfully, Bel Ami's products remain fairly easy to find in such major gay-populated Québec cities as Montréal. A NEW DICTIONARY OF FRENCH AND ENGLISH LANGUAGES de E. CLIFTON ET J. MCLAUGHLIN
A NEW DICTIONARY OF FRENCH AND ENGLISH LANGUAGES de E. CLIFTON ET J. MCLAUGHLIN
I have two editions of this English-to-French and French-to-English dictionary on which E. Clifton and J. McLaughlin collaborated, this one, the "New Revised Edition" of 1904, published in Philadelphia by the David McKay Company, and a similarly delineated edition of 1958, published in Paris by the Éditions Garnier frères, but, in the case of that "A New Revised Edition" it has a further name associated with it, that of L. Dhaleine, who apparently undertook whatever the extent might have been of real updating of the dictionary that occurred in the intervening years. The 1904 edition is printed on superior paper, but the 1958 edition is bound within somewhat more soberly… Lire la suite
Faqs/Luster [Import anglais]
Everett Lewis is one of the great masters of gay cinema, especially of such "alternative" full-length films produced imaginatively on low budgets. This combination set of two movies by the notable gay film director and producer pairs one of Lewis' two best (and most polished) films (the other being "The Pretty Boys"), namely "Luster" (the American spelling of "lustre"), with one of the least of his works, "FAQS". The gulf in quality between "Luster" and "FAQS" is a wide one, albeit both films are well worth viewing multiple times and, indeed, seeing "Luster" frequently is a most enjoyable habit! Since this combo-pack of the two films has not yet (as of early 2013) received any commentary in… Lire la suite
