Ayant entendu Mr Cohen à la radio au sujet de ce livre, j'ai eu envie de lire plus de ce qu'il pense. Pour moi c'était une déception. J'ai trouvé ses analyses trop longues et trop théoriques, et j'avais du mal à trouver des conclusions pratiquables. J'ai donc abandonné le livre, je n'ai lu que quelques parties.

Hollywood never made anything better than this! I have watched this DVD 4 times already. Despite Ingrid Bergman's classic beauty and charm, the towering star of the film is Humphrey Bogart. Here he is in his favourite role as half villain, half hero. He acts the powerful American he-man; the one who can solve any problem, and save any lady in distress. He is the one who stands above the law, but on the highest moral grounds. One feels he is inspired by John Wayne (or the other way round). The film is full of dry humour. This is from the golden days of the BBC, when they made high quality productions. Modern vulgarity had not yet taken over. The humour is unmistakeably English, always with a touch of irony lurking in the background and waiting to come through. If you have experienced peoples' behaviour in government or other large organisations, you will recognize many situations - with a smile. "Yes, Minister" is a bit faded by modern standards, but still absolutely worthwhile!
