Farrell is a huge proponent of no-load funds such as the Vanguard 500 Index, which tracks the Standard & Poor 500 listing of America's largest companies, and the Vanguard Total Bond Market Fund Index, which matches the performance of the Lehman Brothers Aggregate Bond Index.
