Once again, Bill Bryson is the master of his art.

In what has become his trademark, the author brings the reader through a maze of well researched anecdotes, somehow all linked together through a fluid stroke of a pen.

Known for his travel books, again Bill Bryson takes us on a trip... but this time it is inside his own home. In fact, it is just an excuse to accompany the reader on a historic voyage across the ages in England, but also its emerging former colony on the other side of the pond.

As always, the reader is torn between ripping through the book in one go or - as was my case- reading it in short bits, just to make the pleasure last a bit longer. When turning over the last page, one immediately starts wondering... `when does his next book come out?'
