Dershowitz makes the case for there being a peaceful resolution of the Israel-Palestine conflict, one whereby both peoples live side by side in peace.
I hate to say it though, that Dershowitz is naive. There is no will on the arab side to accept Israel, to live with it.
There has been no change over the years in arab threats against Israel, from Azzam Pasha in 1948 who said he would, with the holocaust fresh in mind, "drive the jews into the sea", to Nasser whose media broadcast in 1967 bloodcurdling threats of destruction before he closed the Straits of Tiran and threw the UN buffer force out of the Sinai in preparation for his war of anihilation against the jews.
Hezbollah, Hamas and Iran routinely threaten to destroy Israel and even the supposedly moderate Palestinian authority continually incite hatred of jews and Israel and call for its destruction.
Dershowitz should update his book to include not only Dahlan the palestinian's strong man who pleaded with Hamas not to even think of ever concluding a peace with Israel.
Also in the updated version of the book should be Nabil Shaath's (palestinian foreign minister)saying that "the idea of a two state solution means that there will be a jewish state over there and a palestinian one over here. We will never accept that."
Abbas the palestinian president says that not one jew will reside in his state once the palestinian state comes into being. It is interesting that no western leader has ever taken him to task over this.
In his otherwise excellent book, Dershowitz doesn't seem to comprehend the depth of arab antisemitism and wish to ethnically cleanse the area of all jews and to destroy Israel.
