The story starts well.. A murder related to art , an investigation led by an unusual autistic woman, twists and turns and false paths in the plot : alltogether these ingedients could have made an explosive thriller. However too many drawbacks are present : there is nearly nothing concerning Gauguin, his work, his art, as a matter of fact nothing about art in general. There is nothing about art forgery, the market, techniques for painting authentification. The main character, Genevieve, is not credible : she doesn't understand euphemisms but will pronounce very complicated euphemisms herself. She hates physical contact but keeps being touched over and over again iover 3 weeks. If autistic people could change their behavior within 3 weeks a lot of real-life problems would be resolved. Last but not least there are a lot of redundacies : every 3 pages we ackowledge the fact the the main character doesn't mind being touched by a certain Colin etc. Overall good ideas but poor writing.
