I guess when I was younger and less well read, Robert Greene seemed more profound, but really this book is a superficial treatment of the concepts. If you don't know anything at all about self improvement, or education, then this book will rock your world and is probably one of the best presentations on the topic. Still, I get a funny feeling when I read Greene these days, like there is something inauthentic and unoriginal about him. I can't put my finger on it, but whenever he ventures outside of reporting what great masters have said, or transmitting anecdotes, and reveals his own thinking, I find myself really let down that he is so shallow...
Well, there are 3 reasons to buy this book: 1. You want to complete your Robert Greene Collection, 2. You know nothing about self-improvement, mastery or self-education, 3. You like collections of anecdotes
Otherwise, it's not really worth it. Nothing world shattering here, but still it's a good collection of anecdotes.
