I thoroughly enjoyed this well-written romance about a young widow falling in love with a playboy on the remote Isle of Skye. Emma Winston is a compelling character. Author Clarissa Cartharn deftly establishes reader sympathy early on and it isn't long before we are completely caught up in her tribulations. The unusual choice of Skye is a good one and makes for a suitable stage for the events of this stormy romance to play out. Plot develops without sentiment and culminates in a nail-biting, surprising ending. If you like romance that keeps you guessing with smart characters and a richly textured setting, you should enjoy 'Winter's End.' Recommended.

Nothing exceptional, but quite a good novel to read, with nice characters in a beautiful setting. And in this book, you don't know the end too early, because the heroin has three "lovers-to-be". I enjoyed reading it, and I recommend it.
