In 1978, science fiction writer Spider Robinson wrote a scathing review of The Stand in which he exhorted his readers to grab strangers in bookstores and beg them not to buy it.
The Stand is like that. You either love it or hate it, but you can't ignore it. j'ai deja lu la premiere version et je n'ai pu poser le livre jusqu'à la derniere page...j'ai commandé the complete and uncut version, juste pour voir si j'ai raté quelquechose..dans tous les cas, ce bouquin est, avec "le Talisman" et le Tower series parmi mes alltime favorites....

Stephen King surpassed all expectections when he wrote The Stand. The best book ever written containing everything from good verses evil, romanance, religion (both Christainity and Satanic), total and complete disaster brought on by none other than the good ol'USA military. A world turned upside down in an instant. They improved the flu at a total of 99.4% deadly. Who survied and what happens is for you to find out....for the strong of heart and mind.

Ce roman à la fois fantastique (dans les 2 sens) et très réaliste nous plonge aux USA pendant et après une épidémie de grippe très violente qui éradique 99,99% de la population. Les perso sont attachants et King une fois de plus présente des points de vue tout à fait surprenants (par ex: pendant que l'épidémie sévit).
