I was excited to get my copy of this cookbook. I'm one of those people who knows all about real food and what I should be eating but don't actually follow most of the advice out there. With three young kids I'm trying to do better, which is why I bought this cookbook. I feared I would crack it open, get overwhelmed, shelve it and never look at it again. Or that all the recipes would use items I couldn't find in Canadian stores or if I did would cost a fortune.
When I opened it up I felt like I was greeted by a friend. Someone who had walked the same road as me and was there to help make it easier for me. She wasn't making me change all my ways overnight, just giving me easy changes I could make to improve my diet.
I went grocery shopping the next day. I didn't make over my entire grocery cart but I had meal planned based on this cookbook (something I don't typically do with a new cookbook but I actually wanted to make everything!). In doing so I ended up filling my cart with real food and it didn't feel like a huge life change.
All the recipes use normal foods found in normal grocery stores. They're easy to follow with step by step instructions, great tips, family friendly recipes with pictures of every meal.
The first section is informative and not condescending in tone (great for a new cook or someone like me who is new to a real food journey).
I love this cookbook! I feel like it will be living on my counter for many years!

I first bought the kindle edition of this book and also 100 days fast and fabulous. I have to say I have enjoyed every minute spent reading what she had to say. I read both books in a matter of a few days. I have loved every recipe so far that I have tried and even my husband has liked them. Tonight I made her whole wheat pizza crust and it was so yummy! It was thin and crispy just like we like. Also the zucchini boats with her homemade marinara sauce (yum) with mozzarella cheese were gobbled up in a matter of minutes. I decided to invest in her hardcover book so I could follow the recipes easier because I have a feeling I will be using these books for a long time. So excited to take this healthy journey!

there are parts I love about this book such as part one. Which talks about how to make changes and shopping for whole real food items but as far as the recipe portion I was not at all impressed. I love love love to cook and bake for my family but I could honestly have found these on Pinterest or created these myself. All in all, I gave three stars for the whole front half of the book because there was some great info there.

This was given as a holiday gift to my sister who loves the Leake's and their blog. The recipes are simple to complete, truly made from real food and fit into the average family menu plan. While there are some great meals in here perfect for dinner parties or events, the cookbook includes things the average family with kids will easily enjoy on any given weeknight. It definitely proves that real food tastes good and doesn't have to be complicated, expensive or too difficult for a busy mom!

I found out about Lisa's blog from #foodbabearmy, I bought her cookbook and haven't looked back. I was really being passive about getting away from White flour to wheat because of my husband. After following Lisa on Facebook and buying her cookbook, I just went for it all the way and haven't looked back. She re-energized my passion for home cooking and cooking from scratch! The chicken in a crock pot and lettuce wraps are a huge hit in my house, lol. The one time my hubby doesn't complain about eating lettuce. There are other favorites but those were the first recipes I made from her cookbook, oh yeah the tortilla recipe is by far the best I've found in 2 yrs!!! I have changed my preparation of a lot of dishes and baked goods thanks to Lisa. I use honey or maple syrup now instead of sugar and the family hasn't noticed a difference or complained, that's something I'm extremely proud of😄. Well worth your money to purchase and time to read
