Présentation de l'éditeur

* This is a COLLECTION not a SERIES, so there is no need to read them in order. Different characters, different settings. All involve rock star main characters.

It was one of those mornings for newspaper-writer/photographer Hope Creswell.

The alarm clock didn’t go off and she cut her finger on broken glass. Not one to let such things get her down, Hope headed into her assignment meeting with excitement, only to leave it stunned. Her new assignment is to trail the sensational rock-star, Chase Hatton, for an article. Chase Hatton! No one knows the power that name holds for her. No one knows of the childhood friendship that blossomed into romance, only to abruptly die on the night of Hope’s senior prom. No one knows of the ache that still fills her heart.

What starts out for Chase Hatton as an average publicity trip to Chicago suddenly becomes complicated.

His manager tells him Hope Creswell will be interviewing him in the morning.
He spent eight years trying to forget Hope, and now she would be in his penthouse in a matter of hours?

When Chase opens the door to his penthouse and finds Hope on the opposite side, his heart begins beating a rhythm the rocker has yet to capture in any of his music.

The smoldering embers of their former romance are fanned by their mere proximity. Will they both be burned again? Can Hope ever trust her heart to Chase after what he did? Can Chase bear to see her walk out on him a second time? And what about Hope’s boyfriend, Phillip? Where does he fit into the picture that Hope is developing?

Biographie de l'auteur

M.J. Schiller is a lunch lady/romance-romantic suspense writer. She enjoys writing novels whose characters include rock stars, desert princes, teachers, futuristic Knights, construction workers, cops, and a wide variety of others. In her mind everybody has a romance. She is the mother of a twenty-year-old and three eighteen-year-olds. That's right, triplets! So having recently taught four children to drive, she likes to escape from life on occasion by pretending to be a rock star at karaoke. However…you won’t be seeing her name on any record labels soon.

OK. This was totally not a rock star romance. Yes Chase IS a rock star but sooooo little us actually spent talking about it, its like the author forgot. This book has about 3 different story lines that do t fit together that it is just dumb. Spoiler....
So Hope and Chase are together in high school and after someone who has lied to Hope before LIES to her again with some ridiculous story about Chase, Hope runs off?? Never asking him about it at all? Really? Then they meet again and it takes like over half the book for them to talk about it? Meanwhile Hope has a boyfriend who loves her but she barely thinks about him and pretty much leads both of them on because she is soooo confused? Give me a break! Then, really this boring story should just stop but it doesn't, the author apparently decided to throw in some crazy story about the mafia and Hope thinks she should seduce the mafia guy to get her big break? Sorry, she is NOT a likable character at all. Then Chase saves her from a gun battle.... Wtf? How does thus even belong? Why is it even in the book?
Hope is selfish and self righteous and just plain stupid. Don't bother reading this, you have better things to spend your money on.

Growing up Hope and Chase first met when they were 12 years and became best friends and eventually when they got to high school became boyfriend/girlfriend - this couple were destined to be together and were finally happy until Prom Night when Hope overheard Chase talking to his ex-girlfriend about a baby and then saw them kissing. The next day Hope was gone and now the book flashes forward to ten years later where Hope is now a writer for a Chicago newspaper and hoping to get a big story soon , her boyfriend Philip is one of the staff members and all is going well. That is until she hears a name from her past - Chase Hatton is back in town and now he is a major Rock Star and has offered the newspaper a chance at shadowing him while he is on his Chicago leg of the tour. Since her Editor knows Hope lived in the same town as Chase, he assigns her to the job. Their past issues have never been resolved and they both have different ideas of what happened the last night they saw one another as they were really each other's first true loves. Can Hope get the scoop without becoming emotionally involved with Chase ? Can they get through the interview professionally without the past bubbling to the surface ? What will happen though when truths and secrets are revealed which leaves each party wondering What if ? Will Hope stay with Philip or will she choose her soulmate and true love prevail with Chase ?
Find out in Abandon All Hope which comes from a title of one of Chase's first songs - by MJ Schiller - another Rocking Romance filled with Journalists and RockStars and despite the cover looking like a YA novel, this series is more aimed for the NA to Adult crowd.

The story line of this book is quite very good, but the author kind of just muddled everything together. I know it is not easy to write, but if you are going to write....then do a decent job of it. This plot is nothing we have not read before, so this has to stand out from the other books with similar plots we have read to be okay. Then the POV of Chase and Hope were so intermixed, it is a chore to follow the writing. The plot, scenes and places were so all over the place it is just aggravating.

The only redeeming quality in this book was the Epilogue. Even that, it went suddenly from Hope being pregnant with their first child to their having four kids. We don't even know how old their twins are and suddenly one of them can talk. This book to me is like doing 'hop, step and jump'. Very confusing. The plots were not developed well enough. I also don't feel the connection between Chase and Hope that well. **Tsk tsk**

I loved this book. I read it in one setting.

Childhood sweethearts Chase Hatton and Hope Creswell take us on a journey of first love and first heartbreak. After eight years of separation they are drawn back together and have to make a choice to make it work or not. Chase is a big Rockstar and Hope has a mediocre job as a Journalist. Hope has trust issues with Chase and must work through them. Chase is reluctant at first to have a relationship with Hope but when fate has a say in the matter sparks fly.

As with other MJ books she gives us the gamut of emotions; love, laughter, tears, and heartbreak. The sexual tension between the two characters is intense. The angst factor is high and had me wanting to throttle both characters or jump in and referee. The mystery in this story comes late in the book and is not as intense as other books by MJ but it fits well. The whole aspect of the mystery brings the couple closer together. I loved with this story it is more focused on the couple and how they work through their relationship. One of my favorite scenes in the book is the 2nd prom. (I won’t say anymore I don’t want to ruin it for any one, but SWOON!) You will have to read it for yourself.

I am in love with the Epilogue of this book. Who wouldn’t want a Chase as their man? This book is a standalone with a HEA. I will be recommending this book to everyone. Read it you will not be disappointed.

Hope wasn’t just an old flame; she was the only one to have ever lit his fire at all.

“Then just talk to me. Tell me how much you love me.” She smiled. “I do love you Chase. I love the way you make me laugh. I love the way I feel with you. It’s like I’ve found my home.” She closed her eyes. “I love the way you look at me. And the way you touch me. Chase?”

“Hope Alexis Creswell.” He looked steadily into her eyes. “I’ve loved you since the day I met you, actually since the minute I laid eyes on you. And with each day I’ve spent with you, I’ve grown to love you more.” “I want to love you forever, to be forever lost in your eyes. You’ve stolen my heart.”

“Give me your heart, and make me whole again.”

ABANDON ALL HOPE by M.J. Schiller is the simple love story of two people who were high school sweethearts, and then because of a misunderstanding, they went separate ways on the night of their senior prom. Chase Hatton is now a rock star, and Hope Creswell is trying to be a reporter/writer, but her first love is photography. Hope is assigned to do an article on the sensational celebrity. Thrown together, they must face their true feelings for each other. Does the candle still burn for both of them? Can true love prevail? Or has time erased the emotional connections?

This is a sweet and tender love story of second chance love. Despite his money, Chase is a wonderful caring character. He's the kind of guy all women are looking for--the kind of guy who helps a gal through good times and bad. The storyline has a bit of a twist at the end to heighten the action and suspense.

If you're looking for a romance to put on your summer reading list, try ABANDON ALL HOPE.
