Présentation de l'éditeur

Life for Abby Henley had been uneventful until a handsome, wounded stranger showed up on her doorstep. Abby did what any Christian woman would do; she nursed him back to health. As his strength returned Abby found herself drawn to Cord Sutton, a man who would reveal nothing about his past or the events of why he had been shot.
For three weeks, Cord had fought his feeling for the gorgeous, auburn haired - farm girl. Abby was sweet and beautiful, but Cord had no intention of getting married. He knew if he succumbed to his attraction for her, she would expect marriage. Abby's desire for Cord impels her to seduce him.
When a stranger claims to know a secret about her, she must question her own past. Will the secrets from their past keep Cord and Abby from finding happiness together?

I was suckered into reading this after all the five star reviews. The book read like it was written by an inexperienced youth. The writing was simplistic and childish at times. There were too many grammar and sentence errors. Research didn't seem very well done since modern phrases or actions were randomly throughout the story.

There were too many things going on and it got ridiculous as to all the stuff that could happen to the main characters. I won't be reading the subsequent books in the series.

The story had too many threads and the writing was jerky and hard to follow. Some good editing would have been a bonus.

Ehhh, I felt I was reading a story written by a 15 year old. The idea was promising with potential, but the writing style was inexperienced, and sometimes, rather immature. There were grammatical errors and sentence formation problems. Some of it was inaccurate, when it came to the baby as well. That child, was a genius, because his skills far exceeded his age at times. The story was not very descriptive, and jumped around a lot, leaving big voids. I won't be reading anymore of this series.

This author shows some promise, but really does need to do research before writing. An author who researches the time period and location of their story does a much better job than those who don't. I think not doing the research shows laziness on the author's part. I found myself rolling my eyes a number of times while reading this book. The author never states in what time period the story takes place but I assume that it took place in the 1800's. That being said women did not refuse to drink wine in that time period because they were expecting. They didn't know it would be harmful in that time period. That is just one example of the book not being realistic. This book does need editing. I would not read any more books by this author.

I have to say--with all these e-books out there, apparently people are not investing in good editors. I have a SERIOUS problem trying to read a book with missing punctuation, the wrong homonym used, completely wrong words used, and lack of proper capitalization. I've never found such issues with "old-fashioned" printed books.

If the editing issues were fixed, I'd consider raising my rating.

SPOILER ALERT COMING*****************************

That being said, once I muddled through the errors, I did enjoy the story of Cord and Abby. I liked the twist of Abby really being Elle, and how her real family came to save her from the villain. I did, however, feel there were times it felt more modern-day than the period of the gentle South.

If you don't mind dealing with TONS of editing mistakes, read the book.
