Description du produit

Présentation de l'éditeur

This series introduces chords more quickly than in the regular Alfred's Basic Piano Library. It is perfect for students age 10 and up whose hands are strong enough to play 3-note chords. By combining intervallic reading with chord playing, students are able to enjoy playing fuller and more interesting songs and melodies. This course is most effective when used under the direction of a piano teacher or experienced musician.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 It can't get away from being a piano book, but it's pretty good in light of that. 16 novembre 2014

I've been teaching piano for many, many years at this point and I have to be fair: piano books are boring. Unless the kids in your classes are completely motivated to learn the instrument or YOU are ready to stay on top of them and force them through it, the book will not be a motivator for them. I know that's a pretty general statement about children learning music, but with other instruments, the book is a little more attractive.

The chord approach is better than most other piano approaches and the nice thing about it is that it sets up an understanding of I - V changes immediately, so you can apply it to other things outside of the book for your students. As soon as my kids get I-V, we move to different melodies that they intrinsically know and I have them play them in the right hand while they "guess" the correct harmonization in the left. If they're not ready for that, I play the melody and they just play the chords - playing the V and the I at the harmonically appropriate times.

So, in summation, it's another boring piano book, no doubt, but if you wanted to learn to play and use it as a springboard into more playing, it's among the best options there are - just don't think the "chord method" is going to do it all for you - you have to leave the book behind at some point.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 This book does not approach the piano from chords 22 octobre 2016

I bought this to use with one of my piano students that came in with chord playing ability, but not the knowledge, so I wanted to utilize what she could do and teach her the function, use, and voicing of chords. I was SUPREMELY dissapointed. This is nearly identical to Alfred's Basic Piano Adult All-in-One-Course. Note to teachers, this book does NOT approach the piano from a chord aspect. It does the same songs the same way as all of the other Alfred's books (which are fine, but don't have misleading titles.) I do NOT recommend this book for any person for any reason. The songs are the same as all the other Alfred books I teach from, so it's really just a waste of money if you are looking to expand your curriculum.

Bought for an adult piano student who took lessons when young. I like that it introduces playing chords quickly. I've used this book for teenage and adult beginners. They tend to be successful with it.

Perfect choice for 9 yr. old continuing piano lessons. He practices in it without being told. Some of the pictures are pretty funny too. Enough said!
