Chapter 4
Copper-Crowned Kings and Pearl-Bedecked Queens

In many respects the West Virginia mounds are key to understanding the giants who once ruled America. Not only are the West Virginia mound sites in Charleston, Wheeling, and Moundsville some of the most significant in size and number in United States, but in 1883, the Smithsonian dispatched a team of archaeologists to conduct an extensive dig of the fifty mounds they found there and issue a detailed report.

The team was led by Professors Norris and Thomas, who prepared a detailed report of the work done by scientists who were trained in the excavating of prehistoric monuments, capable of making careful observations, and qualified to write accurate reports. The report shows quite clearly that the team uncovered numerous giants, one of which was 7'6" tall and decorated with heavy copper bracelets. In another mound, they found a circle of ten skeletons surrounding another giant skeleton, as well as underground vaults, various copper and mica ornaments, religious items, pipes and spearheads.

That the ancient giants were considered to be kings and rulers is evidenced by the numerous giant burials where the skeletons have been buried in copper crowns and other regalia such as pearl robes and mica ornaments. In this case, the crowned giants were found buried in a standing position, one of a number of unusual burial positions found in mound builder burial sites.

That the Smithsonian was at the forefront of excavations in West Virginia can be seen clearly from a Charleston Daily Mail feature story, September 23, 1923, which quotes from the Smithsonian’s own report.

Extending along the terrace about five miles over-looking the Kenawha River west of Charleston, above flood level were found about 50 mounds. They range in height from 5 to 35 feet. The principal one is known as the South Charleston Mound, which is 175 feet in diameter at the base and 35 feet high.

In all it is estimated that there are at least 100,000 mounds in the Eastern portion of the United States. These represent the work of millions of people, many nations and tribes, and they were constructed over a long period of time.

In looking at the history of the South Charleston Mound, it turns out our best source is A. R. Sines, grandfather of Dr. F. A. Sines, Charleston dentist. Mr. Sines, who died in 1937, had a written account of his part in the mound opening published in the 1920s.

“No doubt among the thousands of people who daily pass the large mound at South Charleston,” wrote Sines, “many have often wondered if there is anyone living who can tell what is lying, or once lay, at the bottom of that pile of earth. I am probably the only man now living who stood at the bottom of this mound and assisted with a thorough examination of every foot of its interior from top to bottom in November of 1883.”

Mr. Sines related that he was employed to help in the excavation by Col. P.W. Morris, an old Indian scout who was then in the employ of the Smithsonian Institution of Washington. Colonel Morris, former superintendant of the Yellowstone National Park, was investigating all mounds of West Virginia, Ohio, and nearby states at that time. In opening the mound, the men under Col. Morris’ supervision first leveled off the top, then dug a round hole ten feet in diameter downward. As they progressed towards the bottom, they dug out a series of shelves around the sides to have a place to throw the dirt.

“Four feet from the bottom we made our first discovery,” writes Sines. “We came upon a large bed of charred wood, something resembling charred bones, and many small pieces which were more intact resembling burnt teeth. This had, beyond a doubt, once been a funeral pyre.”

The decayed bones belonged to what once had been a most powerful man. There was but little left, but the distance from the spot where the heel bone was found to what was left of the skull was 6 feet 8¾ inches.

The shoulder bones were considerably broader than those of men of our present race, although the skull bone was not so large. The teeth were larger than those we have today. The front part of the skull was nearly double the thickness of a human skull today.

Sines and Colonel Morris found a copper band around the forehead of this buried giant, and similar copper bands around the wrists and ankles. With no copper nearer than Tennessee, they assumed it had been carried here by these Mound Builders thousands of years ago.

They also found axe-shaped stones grooved in the middle. Sines related that this stone was not familiar to this country and so hard that steel would not make a dent.

“Two miles down near where Sunset Memorial Park is today,” Sines relates, “they opened a smaller mound and located the bones of what appeared to be the remnants of a woman. There were copper bands on the ankle and wrist bones and larger pieces of copper on each breast.”

Revue de presse

“Giants in ancient America? You bet! It’s all here in Richard Dewhurst’s fabulous book. Extensively illustrated and chronicled with firsthand accounts from early 19th- and 20th-century news clippings, this book will shatter the mainstream academic teachings that continue to ignore and cover up the role giants played in early American history.” (Xaviant Haze, author of Aliens in Ancient Egypt and coauthor of The Suppressed History of America)

“At last, a comprehensive sourcebook that demystifies the giants of ancient America. Lavishly illustrated, this goliath and gutsy book delivers an unprecedented wealth of information on the great mound builders. Dewhurst digs deeper than the rest. Don’t miss it.” (Susan B. Martinez, Ph.D., author of Lost History of the Little People and The Mysterious Origins of)

“I don’t say this lightly, but of all the nonfiction books I have on my precious shelf space, this book actually has its own little stand so I can gaze at it. I’ve highlighted nearly every page and dog-earred many and hope to use these references in future hypotheses I will present about this amazing and unexplainable race of giants. Thank you, Dewhurst, for such an amazing and laboriously loving research into what I consider one of the single most important anthropological puzzles man has ever tackled.” (Sharon Day, Ghost Hunting Theories Blog, January 2014)

The Ancient Giants who Ruled America is a treasure trove for alternative history and archaeology buffs…This book was an eye-opener, both in its subject matter and also the amount of reporting that Mr. Dewhurst was able to hunt down, covering nearly 400 years.” (Jennifer Hoskins, New Dawn, July 2014)

“This is the most comprehensive and level approach to the subject of giant humanoids in Earth’s past to have ever been published. The most appealing aspect is that Dewhurst has collected a vast array of primary sources and presents them here. Reading one newspaper discovery after another of giant skeletons and artifacts is perhaps the most compelling reason to question the standard lines we are given about humanity’s origins. When coupled with his persuasive theories explaining why the Smithsonian would actively cover up such discoveries, you have one valuable and entertaining read! Highly recommended.” (Robert R. Hieronimus, Ph.D., author of Founding Fathers, Secret Societies and host of 21st Century R)

5.0 étoiles sur 5 10 STARS!!! Amazing Book, Well Researched, Well Written: an ESSENTIAL READ 22 août 2015

Dewhurst hit a home run with this book, one of the best I've read in a long time! Really good work! Dewhurst tells you how he became interested (he is very tall), and how he begins his quest to learn more, up until he subscribes to four or five newspaper archives and reads four or five centuries of articles about skeletons and cities of Giants found in North America. It becomes obvious that the first explorers of America encountered many tribes of Giants, and I'm talking 7 to 12 feet tall! The first American colonists encountered them and began finding their bones buried in mounds and cities all over the continent.

There was no dispute whatsoever that there were many cities of 10,000 and quite a few cities with 100,000 or more, and these were highly advanced. They were copper miners, and even had forges, annealing, embossing, smelting. They had textiles from Assyria and Babylon and the Phoenicians were sailing to America to buy copper and other goods from them as far back as 10,000 BC. These were Paleolithic geniuses whom the Neolithic "native" Americans either avoided, worshipped or warred with. There were massive cities of red and blond haired giants in unexpected places, and Dewhurst does a good job of showing how the landscape of America changed after the Clovis Event (a massive comet) hit America. Originally the Giants lived alongside Mastadons and Mammoths and they had Museums with Dinosaur bones!

Oh, you think this is all hodge podge? You won't after reading HUNDREDS of newspaper articles from early American history! So what happened to all of these bones you ask? Dewhurst shows how the Smithsonian Institute was founded under very sneaky suspicious circumstances. They were the original Men-In-Black who would show up, flash their credentials and then bully the locals into handing over everything, which then gets dumped into the "Memory Hole" or, more likely, incinerated or dumped into the Atlantic ocean. How can Americans feel they have a "Manifest Destiny" if this continent belonged to Giants up to 12 feet tall or even taller... some up to 15 or 25 feet tall? Luckily for the Smithsonian, NAGPRA now allows the "natives" (who clearly originate from many other places BUT NOT HERE) to bury any Giant skeletons found and cover it all up.

If I could, I would give Dewhurst 10 stars for this book. If you are interested in the subject, START HERE. You will never look at mythology the same ever again. After reading this, you will understand that the Olympians, Titans etalia were quite real. The next question becomes, where did they come from? But Dewhurst doesn't go there. He assiduously stays on target, only focusing on North America, and you will never see American history as being the same. Read this book and you become an ipso facto expert on the subject!

Edit #1: there is one thing that frustrated the hell out of me with this book: Dewhurst constantly got mixed up between the idea of BCE (Before Current Era) and BC (Before Christ) and he occasionally muffs up KYA (Thousand of Years Ago) too. The difference is only 2000 years is all and it makes a HUGE difference if you are trying to gather accurate information. I wasn't surprised to find out it was another Bear and Company book, so I'm not going to solely blame Dewhurst. This gaff is also on his (a) Beta Readers, (b) Literary Agent, and (c) Bear and Company which seems to be putting out a lot of books with similar egregious errors these days.

Edit #2: If you read the negative reviews immediately you will see several trends. (a) most of the reviewers expected a comprehensive tell-all book about the entire history of giants in every corner of the world. Apparently they didn't bother to read the title of the book "Giants who Ruled AMERICA". (b) many reviewers want Dewhurst to solve the entire mystery of giants for them and they vigorously complain that he doesn't do this. Which is baffling! He never pretends that the focus of his book is to present the entire gestalt all wrapped up in a big bow! (c) some reviewers want in depth forensic analysis of every detail. Dewhurst never pretends such examination is on the menu; he ONLY presents centuries of mostly small-town newspaper clippings (with some more archaic sightings of explorers like Columbus and Magellan) and lets the reader make up their own mind.

If this book actually supplied what the detractors want it would be 10,000 pages long and one can only assume that the level of angst being exhibited is due to the fact that Dewhurst hit the naysayers right where it hurts - in their atrophied brains suffering from the collective aphasia perpetrated by the Smithsonian crowd. Because if Giants existed then you lost some control over the world you thought you knew, right? Accepting the one thing opens Pandora's Box and you now have to consider several other related concepts and that scares you. I feel sorry for them. Don't listen for one second to the Luddites that one-star this book! SHAME ON THEM!!!!

4.0 étoiles sur 5 More Fun Than a Barrel of Giants! 7 septembre 2016

One can only imagine the meetings in a secret room at the Smithsonian, very tall, well-dressed men -- the tall people in the grave sites always appear to be male -- sitting around a very large, long table in very large chairs, chuckling as they discuss how they have fooled the public about their ancestry and suppressed the knowledge of their existence for hundreds of years. They swirl their brandy, take the occasional drink, and chat about the continued deception while they plot how to rule the country forever. History would determine they are Mormon, and the Book of Mormon and the tales of great battles are all true. On the other hand, Isaac Asimov was once asked about visiting aliens abducting innocent rural folk during nocturnal hours and replied: "Why would they bother?" Why would the Smithsonian bother? The answer, of course, is that they wouldn't. Museums do lose stuff. It happens. But to lose tons and tons of skeletal portions, exciting jewelry, weapons galore, and all the trappings of an advanced society, that's a real stretch. More so if every farm family in the Midwest has an attic full of remains and tools which they have treasured and kept secret for many generations. All those skulls and teeth and no one reputable has done a genome analysis? When Kennewick Man was tested, he was found to be ancestral to today's indigenous inhabitants, despite the fact that he did not overly resemble them. And the horned skulls and 'double dentition?' A break, please. Yes, some people have extra teeth. It is not uncommon. I have personally seen eight additional teeth in one mouth. However, that is not the human norm, even back unto Homo habilis, not to mention chimps and gorillas. Horns? Well, there is Dick Cheney, but beyond him, maybe not. Remember when the Irish had tails? Once a common belief, particularly amongst the oppressive English. So there are human skeletons which are large? They are still human, still can be DNA tested . So let's have some science, folks. That'd be neat. Unless, of course, every large village got a few giants to do the heavy work and amuse the village kids, big clumsy dolts, part of the local color. Could that be true story? We may never know, at least until there is science!

I pre-ordered this book way back in September and could hardly wait until it was released at the end of December. I find this book incredibly well-researched and comprehensive. The book starts with Mr. Dewhurst's theories as to why the Smithsonian has been running a scam for over 100 years now with regard to the giant skeletons found in graves all over the US, and delves deeply into the articles that detailed the giants found all over the US in mounds, graves, bogs, etc.....I have thoroughly researched this topic but still learned quite a bit, though I'm nowhere near done reading the book. However, so far I'm impressed with the thorough hand and thought Mr. Dewhurst has put into this jewel. He has categorized his chapters into various relevant topics and not only talks about the giants, but talks about the copper mined here thousands of years ago (something I've only heard Scott Wolter speak about on America Unearthed), (relevant) hieroglyphs, tablets, and other topics relating to the giants (many giants were adorned with copper crowns and such). This would be the best and most comprehensive guide to the topic of pre-Columbian US history and giant skeletons, providing a plethora of news articles detailing these finds that have all but vanished from the annals of history. A debt of gratitude is due Mr. Dewhurst for tackling this topic with honesty and clarity. Thanks Mr. Dewhurst. I will recommend your book to all interested in this topic.

Who would have thought that the Smithsonian Institution would quash evidence for decades, that skeletons of giant human beings have been found? This reveals the duplicity of the institution and scientific fraud that the Smithsonian has perpetrated upon this nation and the world. Full of proofs.

Who doesn't love a great giant story? I loved this book! I devoured it! I read it so fast I actually read it again at a later time in case I missed anything. This book has it all. The way it's written is a delight! And he's got proff for his TALL ( ha ha- tall- get it?) tales. We've been lied to about our human history. This should be thought in ever school. At least home schools. Educate yourselves people. You will feel so much better when you know more. Until you get angry at being lied to. I took my anger and turned it into a THIRST for more and more Truth. Read this book.
