Présentation de l'éditeur

Mars wants our cows (yes, cows!), and they're sending an invasion fleet to take them from us. Only Gilbert and Aoleon the Martian Girl stand in their way!

Gilbert always longed for adventure, but now that he has it, he's not sure that it's everything it's cracked up to be. Ever since the night he met Aoleon the Martian Girl sitting in the middle of a crop circle in Farmer Johnson's field, it's been nothing but one wild ride after another.

From fighting off swarms of giant killer robots to dealing with strange aliens from another world – never mind trekking across the vast Martian desert and skyboarding deep into the center of a (hopefully) extinct volcano – Gilbert has had his hands full just trying to keep up with it all. And now it's up to him and his new friend, Aoleon, to face off against the evil Martian overlord and keep our cows safe at home where they belong.

The launch of this exciting and innovatively illustrated new series takes the reader deep into the heart of an unforgettable and out-of-this-world friendship in a story full of hijinks, hilarity, and good old-fashioned fun. Join Gilbert and Aoleon in this exciting middle-grade science fiction adventure today!

Read part one of this exciting and funny middle grade science fiction adventure that both parents and kids adore.

Aoleon The Martian Girl: Part 1 by Brent LeVasseur
This is one of those stories that most of us can easily connect with, who among us hasn’t imagined waking up one morning and finding out that our dream has come true? For Gilbert, the young human hero in this book, it turns out that his dreams were so much more than they seemed. When he meets Aoleon, he could never have imagined the adventures he would have. I loved this story, not just for the great writing, creative imagery and details, funny and loveable characters, but also for the terrific pictures included with the words. The artwork is just as wonderful as the written story, and I don’t think either would be complete without the other. My daughters and I are all looking forward to reading more about Aoleon, and Gilbert as well! I highly recommend this series for kids of all ages.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Great alien story for young readers! 28 février 2015

It’s a highly entertaining sci-fi book for alien story lovers! If you are a young reader or if you’re looking for a gift for a child (who in my opinion should be at least 10 years old unless you read the story aloud changing difficult parts and in that case it’s okay for a 5 year-old like my son…).

The story is about Gilbert, a young boy who one night finds a beautiful Martian girl- Aoleón- in his neighbor’s land. He finally joins her and flies away on her ship to her planet- Mars- as they are pursued by the U.S. Air Force.
When they arrive to this mysterious new place, Gilbert will see many strange creatures and another completely new world. This is the first part of a saga, so if you or your children like this kind of sci-fi, you’ll have to continue reading to know more about Gilbert’s and Aoléon’s adventures!

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Science Fiction that will appeal to middle grade readers. 31 janvier 2015

This is a children's science fiction book featuring Gilbert, a normal human boy, and Aoléon, a normal Martian girl. They meet when Aoléon visits Earth (or Terra as the Martians call it) just for fun and practice flying.

The pictures in this book are great. They're colorful and detailed and look like they came from a movie. The pictures go well with the descriptions which are detailed enough to give a good visual.

The main characters, Aoléon and Gilbert, both seem fearless which is a good thing because at the end of the book they're given a mission and they're going to have to be both smart and brave to complete it.

I think middle grade readers will enjoy Aoléon Martian Girl. It's a quick read with amazing pictures and is obviously the first book in a series.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A fun science fiction/fantasy story for all ages 5 mars 2015
Par Valerie Caraotta - Publié sur

I encourage all ages to come aboard this science fiction/fantasy tale that author Brent Levasseur so cleverly devised. Whether a kid or a kid at heart this book 1 of 5 has all the fun fantasy excitement. A great stress reliever for adults and a good book to introduce science fiction/fantasy or add to the collection. Young Gilbert's interest in space and astronomy, along with his prayer to leave his home will set him on an adventure never to be forgotten. A spaceship would answer the call with Martian alien named Aoleon. "The saucer flew through the pillars of creation in the Eagle Nebula and past several stars that bloomed bright in passing before it entered our solar system.". And entered indeed did it come with a blinding light in the middle of the night on the Nebraska farm field of neighbor Farmer Johnson. "The strange light pulsed, changing hue with each beat like fingers reaching skyward."

In this book 1 you will be introduced to Aoleon, a girl Martian with oversized blue eyes and turquoise skin that will take Gilbert on a journey from Nebraska to the North Pole-onward to the British Isles and then to the infamous Mars. This unusual alien ship would attract the attention of the U.S. Air Force where Major Turgidson will first exhaust himself in a speed chase and then be humiliated on his "descent".
-Learn what it is like in the spaceship flight.
-Why pressing a wrong button will find the cows and dog floating in the air.
- The great maneuverability and speed of the ship

When they land on Mars they will discover the leader called Luminon and learn of his plot to bombard earth and steal the milk cows. it is adventure from start to finish and I recommend this to others.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Filled with the kind of slapstick humor kids love 5 mars 2015
Par Robin Surface - Publié sur

From the characters’ names to flying cows and Three Stooges-style slapstick, I think the 9-11 year old crowd will find this book humorous and entertaining.

While some might try to find a deeper message hidden within this story, this was not my take on it. Yes, the main character’s parents argue and he doesn’t like it, but that happens in every household and I didn’t see this as the impetus for his outer space adventure. This was a light and funny story, not some dark "growing up in a bad environment" story.

The reason I think this story will appeal to the aforementioned age group is that kids that age are perpetually bored by everything, and I see Gilbert’s easy acceptance of Aoléon and her origins as fitting in with the whole looking for something “not boring” to do quest most kids have 24/7. I don’t think he was running away from a bad home situation, as has been suggested by other reviewers.

As far as the somewhat political descriptions of Mars go, I think this will also appeal to kids and they will completely understand it. After all, kids are watched closely and controlled by those they might think of as dictators, i.e. parents, guardians, teachers, etc. and are constantly looking for ways around that control, even resorting to lobbying for more democratic treatment.

The action scenes were fast-paced and funny, and the addition of flying cows in the mix was just plain wonderful!

The author does a good job of making the alien girl seem overly smart (kids who are science nerds will love her), while still keeping her in the kid realm. He also gives Gilbert a suitable bit of ignorance but couples it with a willingness to learn and accept things as they come at him.

The humor is entertaining for kids and most adults, the illustrations are great and pretty funny, too. It's my opinion that kids will love this book and look forward to the next in the series.
