5.0 étoiles sur 5 Profound book with an extensive amount of practical guidance 29 avril 2014
Par Steven Solodky - Publié sur
Format: Broché Achat vérifié
Awakening in the Paradox of Darkness is a profound book that contains an extensive amount of practical guidance to support the spiritual seeker throughout the awakening process. The book is unique in that it covers a wide range of issues, such as trauma, sexual abuse and grief. I felt especially connected to how Gary Tzu openly shares his own battle with the darkness. There are case studies to demonstrate the various techniques that Gary suggests to effectively navigate awakening. On a personal note, I have found spiritual awakening to be incredibly difficult. It has been overwhelming at times due to the intense shadow material that arises. It's been a massive relief to come across Gary's work, as he openly talks about this darkness. He provides a really clear foundation to help work through these intense periods. This book is wonderful in that it has no pretence from the author. Gary accurately infuses the depths of darkness with a wonderful celebration of existence that provides genuine resource for those in the midst of their own spiritual emergence.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 paddle to the sea 6 novembre 2014

When opening this book up to pace through it, Gary speaks form with clarity. Gary points out, There is no answers to know, better than oneself. The truth of awakening is pointed out by the author, at every moment, tune in, harmonize, integrate, engage, expand and deepen within the paradox , of one's true nature .I feel more eager to embrace the beauty of here with a gut approach honestly, displayed here. In his words. I feel the "Go for It", coaching . It is no-nonsense approach with Gary. Remembering learning to swim is letting go, knowing it sometimes feels like you are drowning in the darkness. This tangible, alive, stillness awakens true presence as home, floating with or without a paddle.

In the book Gary uses his experiences with his practice to convey the message of emerging being to wholeness.

Gary helps here to see through the gripping fears, with playful spirited words,(incredible adjective word expression) of inquiry; and well grounded by favorite non-dual references. I am very grateful to Gary, feeling a sense of shared compassion as a human-kind . We are not alone in this creative expression of living to love the mystery. Thank you for writing and sharing the gift of the miracle.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A well-written, engaging and deeply insightful book on non-dual awakening in everyday life. 2 juin 2014
Par Jeannie - Publié sur
Format: Broché
The book is split into six parts, each with about 5 chapters. Each part explores a theme, which mixes the author's own experience with exchanges with clients from his non-dual psychology practice and references from a diverse range of other teachers, from J. Krishnamurti to A.H. Almaas to Byron Katie to Adyashanti to Jed McKenna to Jung to Osho to name a few. Part one is 'Death of the seeker: The Luminous Night Reveals Itself', Part 2 'The Grey Realm: Stuck in Limbo' Part 3 'Hanging on: The realm if the blues' - you get the idea.

The book is so well-written, engaging and deeply insightful - bringing many mechanisms into the light of consciousness, especially the myriad of narcissistic mechanisms and behaviours, yet it is relaxed and often humorous and intimate - it's as if he's here talking to me in his natural way. I absolutely love it!

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Optimism for spiritual pessimists! 6 juin 2014
Par Ken Hart - Publié sur
Format: Broché
This book is definitely not for beginners! But, it is perfectly pitched for a veteran spiritual growth seeker such as myself. Gary Tzu helped me to realize I am not the only one who is losing his zeal and growing weary due to "spiritual striving burnout." This book taught me the major barrier to enlightenment is my inability to let go of my ego's desire to achieve the goal of enlightenment.

This book does an excellent job at describing the process of self transcendence. I highly recommend this book to its intended audience: weary end-of-the-line seekers who are losing hope of ever achieving their sacred goal of awakening to the Ground of Being. Paradoxically, this book provides a ray of hope for hopeless seekers who might have lapsed into cynicism and given up trying. As a result of reading "awakening in the paradox of darkness", these people will be given a second chance.

Spiritual seekers who have lost faith in the vehicle of personal willpower will acquire reason to be optimistic. They will come to understand that spiritual apathy and existential despair are (desirable) signs of the letting go/surrender process. While the phenomenological experience of this kind of creative suffering is not pleasant, it is pregnant with hope. Spiritual despair indicates the weary seeker may be ready to drop the major impediment to awakening: faith in the power of self will.

According to Gary Tzu, if self annihilation is total and complete, it will open a portal to the vast and terrifying dark abyss of nothingness, the Divine cradle of all that exists. This experience can be met with an attitude of trustful acceptance or fearful resistance. If the person embraces the black hole of emptiness, rather than resist, their experience will be transformed to a blissful state of choiceless awareness and effortless resting in being.

In conclusion, I highly recommend this book. Yet a caution needs to be given to the fainthearted and to neophyte seekers who may not yet be ready to hear that effortful striving to become enlightened is destined to fail. Neophytes will have difficulty excepting the solution, which is to give up, stop trying, and just relax into being.
