Présentation de l'éditeur
This 2018 edition, is a complete revision of the guidebook first published last year. This version was updated and expanded May.
Every page is packed with impartial and reliable information. More information into fewer pages to reduce cost to you
This is more than a short guide to the town. There are sections on Slovenian food and wine, interviews with locals who share their knowledge and if you are visiting for only a few days, information to help you prioritise what to do, go, see, and where to eat and drink.
The holiday season starts early this year, and the information here should do for the rest of 2018 and into 2019. It is written in the first person by someone who knows the town and the area well and has lived there for extended periods. The 2018 Standard Edition has more information about Bled, more interviews and lists of things to do. Like the 2017 version, it includes features, things to see and do in Bled, interviews with people who make the town so special, and reviews of bars and restaurants.
This 2018 edition has new sections on Slovenian wine and food. There are many suggestions of places to visit if you are using Bled as a base. There is more Insider Information and a few secrets, too. To keep the print costs low, there are no photos – but you will be making plenty for yourself. Slovenia is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe and Bled is the jewel in its crown. The medieval castle with its Romanesque tower sits high above the turquoise water of Lake Bled. In the lake on the tiny island is the church. Dedicated to the Assumption of Mary (Cerkev Marijinega vnebovzetja), it was a place of pilgrimage in the past. Now tourists, are ferried there the colourful flat bottomed pletna boats.
Lake Bled is in the spectacular alpine Gorenjska region of Slovenia. This Firsthand Guide (Standard Edition) will take you through the year in Bled. It offers straightforward detailed information for the visitor and independent traveller from arriving by bus to summer and winter highlights. You will get practical information ranging from who to turn to in emergencies through to where to find the best cake shop. You will also get to know about some of the fascinating and beautiful towns and villages nearby, the local food and where to get it, music and sporting highlights of the year and why you should always carry change in your pocket.
The author, Davy Sims is a former BBC producer. He has lived in Bled for more than a year over a period of three years. He knows where to get the best pizza, the best easy walks and some wonderful people who have become friends.
