3.0 étoiles sur 5 Built by BUILT This Kindle Case Does Job With Maybe One Exception 25 novembre 2012

Couleur: Mini Dot Commentaire d‘un membre du Club des Testeurs ( De quoi s'agit-il? )
There are way too many table cover and case companies on the market - all making products strangely similar to each other in price, design and features. To make it worse is the specialization among products. There are, for instance, separate cases and covers for the Kindle keyboard tablet, for Kindle Fire, and for Kindle Fire HD.

The company BUILT has built a slim case for the Kindle Fire with a sharp and attractive mini dot design. Like others it opens and tents backwards and has anti-slip gripping material to hold it in place. All the ports and buttons are accessible - if you select the right case for the right product. The inner lining and soft to protect the screen.

What I don't like is the elastic strap in the four corners. To use, you slide your Kindle Fire in place under the four corner straps, acting on faith that it will keep your device securely in place. Other cases I feel more secure with because you slide your device into place and it is tighly tucked in place along all four sides, not just the corners.

But this slim folio case by BUILT is very attractive and might be of greater value to style-conscious ladies who take their Kindles with them when away from home.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 Starts sliding out after a month of use..... 27 novembre 2012

The cover is deep olive green with skulls on it and is made of an artificial nylon-feeling fabric which is padded on the outside and deep chartreuse on the inside. The inside is artificial leather, and the brighter color. The kindle cover fits the old Kindle fire, and the kindle is held in place by a nylon (sort of like panty-hose) stretchy fabric in four corners. There is no stylus loop. There is an elastic band that flips over your kindle to keep it securely inside.

Inserting the kindle into the nylon stretch corners took some effort. This may be tough for young children or seniors. It kept sliding out and didn't feel secure. However, once I did manage to get all 4 corners inside, it seems fine now. I am not sure how this method for securing the kindle will last.

I felt this kindle cover is very basic. The lack of stylus loop is a big negative for me. I don't use my finger, and don't want to have to hook my stylus onto the case which is what I am forced to do with this product. I also prefer a metal clasp and button to keep it closed. I do not care for the rubber-band elastic closing method, as this seems inclined to stretch or break. Likewise I am concerned about the fabric method of holding the kindle inside. It seems like it might stretch over time. Overall, this is an average cover with no extras, a bit over-priced. It has a cute exterior, but for me- what I'm looking for in a case is protection, extras, and value.

EDIT: I am downgrading this review one star, because after having this for less than a month, the cover frequently pops off. I am afraid it is what I feared... The stretchy nylon corners aren't up to the task of holding this kindle in it's cover. For this reason, I cannot recommend this cover.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Adorable, with a few small limitations + NEW updates 3 décembre 2012

Update after a month of use: I felt that I owed this company and any viewers a solid update on this Kindle case, after putting it through some SERIOUS use the past 30 days.

I've changed my rating from 4 stars to 5, because this case has not only met but exceeded my expectations! First, the stretchy fabric corners that worried me have held as firmly to my tablet as Crazy Glue! Once I managed to get the Kindle Fire into the folio, it hasn't budged, shifted, or moved one iota. Even when my darling granddaughter caught her Barbie in the power cord and the unit hit the floor, the case actually BOUNCED when it hit the, THAT'S protection!

The fabric has not proven to get dirty at all. I would hold/handle the cover for up to 8 hours (off and on) when I was in bed with the flu and it hasn't shown one spot of wear. In fact, the very soft cushion-y aspect of this case made it SO comfortable to hold and hang onto while I was constantly shifting positions in bed. Although the Fire itself is easy to hold (meaning the case isn't slippery), I much prefer to keep the Fire in this folio, as the texture and cushioning make it so nice to hold.

I'm still keeping my original review, below, but felt I needed to let future owners of this case know how impressed I've become with it.

I have many cases for my Kindle because...I'm a Chick and we enjoy "changing things up", like our shoes and handbags. I received this via the Vine Program so I did NOT lay out any cash for it. If I were spending my hard-earned money on another case, it would not have been this case unless I was specifically using it INDOORS.

But, let's not get negative. First, the many pros:

1) Colour is bright, cheery and festive. I received the "Sock It To Me" Peace & Heart pattern. I love the bright colours and how easy it is for me to find my Kindle in the depths of my backpack/purse, simply because of the colour. Please note: the interior lining shot shown is of a bright PINK fabric; mine came with a ROYAL BLUE fabric, if this is a deal breaker for you or not.

2) LOVE the soft, padded exterior. When I read for hours and hours, it's nice to have the soft cushioning factor of this case. Other reviewers have mentioned that they feared the fabric would make cleaning the surface difficult. Perhaps it will, but since I change out covers every week or so and plan to only use my Kindle in a clean environment, that won't be a factor in my life.

3) NOTHING TO LINE UP!!! I have some tablet cases that require zippers or snaps or all manners of securing them. When you're on the fly, it's sometimes a pain to follow through with the procedure, so I just jam the open case into my bag. The closure on this case is brainless---just a big tension band that opens and closes it.

The few negatives:

1) The very small stretchy tabs that hold the Kindle just don't appear to be strong enough, over time, to keep my tablet secure. Yes, they are taut right now, but with repeated use, I'm already worried. As the case ages, I might relegate the use of the tablet in this case to STRICTLY HOME USE, where I have soft bed-covers and wall-to-wall carpeting to protect it against accidental falls.

2) THIS IS NOT MY CONCERN, but others have mentioned it: a fabric cover. But hey, I have tons of fabric purses and it's NEVER been a problem to spot clean them. I'm NOT taking off any points from this case for that factor.

3) No loop for stylus. Again, NOT my concern but others have mentioned the lack of a loop. However, to be fair to amazon, the Kindle does NOT come with a stylus so why would a case manufacturer include that option in a case specifically designed for a Kindle? Yes, I know it's a nice detail, but if you want to walk down that road, then they should include a small pocket for change or a credit card, too. Again, I'm not factoring this lack of detail into my review.

Over all, I'm very happy and very pleased with this case. If I took the subway or bus and there was a high fear factor of the Kindle slipping out onto concrete or tar, I'd give pause to using this as my primary case. But, I have 5 cases for my Kindle, some built like Fort Knox, so I'll change into THOSE when I place my Kindle's "life in danger" on the city streets. ;)

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Does the job 23 février 2013

I purchased this cover for my daughter's Kindle Fire. She likes the design and the case appears fairly well made. The Kindle fits well in the case and it provides solid cushioning and protection when closed. The elastic strap for closure works fine although it appears to be stretching a bit over time.

The four elastic corner tabs that hold the Kindle in place are ok. But again, I am seeing them stretch out over time and occasionally one of the corners slips out.

Definitely not an optimal solution. But there seem to be limited design/style options for the Kindle Fire and this one gets the job done.
