After charging for an entire day, its fully-charged battery did manage to actually turn on the Wii remote. So far, so good. Problem is, it kept turning itself off at random intervals. Sometimes it took a minute or so to turn off, and other times it only took a few seconds. While pressing the "A" button did manage to re-establish communications with the Wii, it became a bit annoying to have to do this over and over while trying to play a game.
I even gave it the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe I was absent-mindedly pointing the remote away from the Wii. But that wasn't the case. Even while pointing the remote directly at the Wii receiver, from only a few feet away, the remote would still shut-off at randomly short intervals.
Then I gave it one last chance, and tried it in another remote, thinking maybe it was just having a hard time maintaining its battery connection inside of the other remote. A longshot, but worth a try.
BZZZZZZT! Sorry! You lose!
So, that's the end of my rant. I figured I didn't get my $10 worth from the product, I might as well get my money's worth by venting my frustration. The only reason I'm not returning the product is because I don't think it's worth the postage and a trip to the post office to give back the product and try getting my money back. So, it's a $10 gamble that didn't pay off.
Maybe that's what Mad Catz is counting on?
Anyway, that's my long-winded way of saying...
I would _not_ recommend this product.
I also don't know how I feel about this sucking power from my Wii in order to charge the battery pack. That seems like it can't be good for the Wii.
Honestly, this seems like it might have been a good idea but it REALLY needs an external power source. Unless you have two remotes so you can have one charging while you play with the other, I have to advise you to stay away from this product. Go ahead and buy a charging station with it's own power plug or just use batteries.
