A tous les amateurs de burger ou de galettes en tous genres vous allez être servis !! Je n'ai personnellement pas été décue, ces galettes maison sont bien meilleures que celles achetées en supermarché.

Bonne sélection et variété de recettes de galettes servies seules, dans un petit pain ou en sandwich, avec ou sans gluten ou soya il y en a vraiment pour tous les goûts (les recettes sont à base soit de tofu,tempeh, seitan, lentilles, légumineuses, riz ou légumes). J'ai bien aimé le grands choix de recettes divisés en plusieurs sections (burgers for breakfast, from the far east, from the middle east, from the boot, from the heartland, with latin flavor, from around the world, for the holidays et loose "meat" for sandwiches), la section sauce et garnitures et les accompagnements. Une section également pour des recettes de petits pains et une mini section desserts.

Je n'ai pas eu de difficulté à trouver la majorité des ingrédients en supermarché et pour le reste on trouve facilement en magasin bio. A noter que le livre est américain donc on utilise ici les mesures en cup.

Très bon livre donc avec une belle présentation et de jolies photos, à recommander.

I was given this book as a gift, the recipes inspired me to create new vegan burgers. Although I changend ingredients most of the time to meet the French culinary taste. I am ordering a second copy, as the previous one is slightly damaged, so sure it is a book I would recommend.

On m'avait offert ce livre en cadeau, les recettes m'ont inspirée pour créer des nouvelles recettes de burgers. Bien que j'aie souvent changé les ingrédients pour adapter à la cuisine traditionnelle en France. Je commande un 2ème exemplaire, l'autre étant un peu endommagé. Certainement un livre que je recommande.

Des recettes toutes plus délicieuses les unes que les autres, pour découvrir et apprécier la cuisine Vegan. C'est vraiment délicieux. En revanche la recette des frites de patates douce m'a laissée sur ma faim, sans doute un problème dans la température du four indiquée dans la recette?

I've had this book for about two weeks and have tried three burgers-- Jamaican Jerk (really good flavor, but I couldn't get the right texture), Chipotle Sweet Potato (amazing, this is my favorite so far) and Garlicky Ranch Potato (so simple). Joni gives some really good tips in the intro for grilling, baking and frying the burgers. I also like that each recipe give either a suggested side, condiment or bun.

There is a chapter for every major cuisine, including a huge American-inspired chapter. So far, I have been able to pick a burger to make without buying too many extra ingredients, since there are so many options.

As far as visual appeal, the book is heavy for a paperback and full of pictures. It's definitely worth the price.

I'm excited to have this book going into summer grilling season, and look forward to trying all 101 burgers!

I absolutely LOVE this author for coming up with this cookbook! The recipes are so creative and varied, and she really thinks outside the box with each one. Another reviewer wrote that it is not really about trying to find a meat replacement burger (although there are some for that), it's about discovering amazing new recipes using all kinds of different ingredients in ways that kind of redefine (or at least stretch the definition) of "the burger".

The most difficult part is really deciding which burger to make first. Every page I flip through has such a delicious recipe, it's hard to make a decision. So far I've made the BLT avocado burgers, bacon cheeseburgers (wow!), bacon bits, BBQ sauce, and rustica buns. They all came out amazing (BBQ sauce - yum!) though I did have trouble getting my buns to rise.

Features I especially appreciated:

1. Nice layout, lots of big colorful pictures.
2. Very imaginative recipes, well organized by region or other common ground.
3. Recipes are included so that every part of the meal can be made from scratch, including seitan, bacon bits, sauces, and buns.
4. The burgers can be frozen for later use.
5. There's a dessert section in the back!

Overall, a brilliant idea and a well put together cookbook! I highly recommend it!

Most of the recipes in this book call for VITAL WHEAT GLUTEN. And I would prefer not to have to use gluten in my cooking. There are VERY FEW recipes in this book that do not contain any gluten. Worse, this cookbook does not suggest any alternatives to the vital wheat gluten!

So if you have celiac disease or otherwise have problems with gluten, then this book is NOT for you. You may be best off eating the real (meat) burgers—or for veggie burgers, go for another recipe book, or perhaps search online. One resource is Vegan Richa's food blog (not her cookbook, Vegan Richa's Indian Kitchen: Traditional and Creative Recipes for the Home Cook, but her food blog), and I'm sure there will be other recipes out there that would be more suitable.

I bought this cookbook thinking it would be fun to diversify our vegan diet with some creative burger recipes. Well, my wish for creative recipes was fulfilled, but I couldn't believe the heavy reliance on TVP and vital wheat gluten. Neither Hubby nor I have any allergies to these products, but we prefer to focus on whole foods rather than processed ones as much as possible. You know... stuff like good old-fashioned beans, grains and legumes!

Granted, a small portion of this book's 101 offerings do not rely on TVP and VWG and those recipes will be my focus, but I never would have purchased this cookbook if I'd known what a small spotlight they receive.

For those wanting a veggie burger cookbook that relies more on whole foods, allow me to recommend Lukas Volger's "Veggie Burgers Every Which Way" which I also purchased from Amazon.com.

The creativity that went into this book is incredible; there are things I would have never thought of throwing into a patty that look and sound amazing. This is especially great for veg*ns in the summer since it gives the freedom to break away from the pre-made freezer fare and have something exciting to take to omni cookouts. To make life even easier, there are instructions on how to freeze and reheat burgers so they're as convenient as store bought and various cooking methods listed for many recipes, which eliminates the guesswork of baking over frying or vice versa.

It's not advertised on the book or in the description, but this is 101 BURGER (well, patty)recipes plus breads, condiments, sides, and a handful of desserts, making it have closer to 150+ recipes than 101. And there are serving suggestions and/or condiment & bread pairings with every burger, which is a nice touch.

So far, all of the burgers I've tried have been good and have worked; so far no broken patties here! I am hoping to find my "it" burger; so far I've enjoyed all the ones I've tried but none have really jumped out and grabbed me. So far, I've tried mostly things from the Latin Flavors chapter and a few others sprinkled throughout. By far the most fun is the Seitanic Stuffer, a huge burger stuffed with whatever you wish. I just did the mushroom and onion version which we enjoyed.
I plan on making one or two recipes per week so I'll update this if I find anything noteworthy.

The only real downside I see is that many of the recipes (but by no means all) use a lot of oil, but I think most of those should be modifiable if need be.

Just one additional notes-I'm sure I'm not the only person who loves organized cookbooks and this book has a great index as well as a recipe list at the beginning of each chapter. Coming on the heels of a much less user friendly(but otherwise great) book by the same author, I though this was worth pointing out.
