Présentation de l'éditeur

I had the perfect life; an awesome job in advertising, a gorgeous high rise apartment, and a flirtation with the guy down the hall. Then it all came crashing down. Two months later I was a cocktail waitress living in a tiny one bedroom apartment. I had also developed a serious ‘men suck’ attitude.
That all changed the night I met the beautiful and enigmatic Conner Savage. But there was just one little problem…he said he was a vampire. Figures a man that hot would be batshit crazy. Or so I thought. It didn't take me long to realize that Conner wasn't a nut job and that I was addicted to him. With every moment we spent together he drew me deeper into his world and the supernatural culture in which he lived.
Now I had a choice: the vampire I craved or a normal life. Couldn't be easier, right?

I enjoyed the book and do not regret downloading it but there were a few things that make this book a three star versus five star book.

The good:
- Connor is pretty darn sexy
- The sex scenes are well done (see above)
- Overall the author's writing style is good

The not so great:
- The romance between Donna and Conner goes from hot and fun to fairly mushy about 3/4 through the book. They go from having normal, and sometimes too snarky on Donna's part, conversations to over the top "I can't live without you" or "My world would end if anything ever happened to you" kind of dialogue.
- Donna can be a little TOO snarky. Most of the time, she is funny, but she was also pretty abrasive at times.
- Did not provide a clear picture on several "happenings" in the story, especially at the end. Not a lot of details, though there is a lot of action.

Again, I enjoyed it overall but I am going to read the next book to see if this is an author I will continue to follow. (as a reference, a few of my favorite authors are Patricia Briggs, Kelley Armstrong, & Shannon Mayer).
2.0 étoiles sur 5 A nice take on vampire lore 27 avril 2017

I know that I'm going to be in the minority of my friends when I say that this book was just okay for me. When I first started the book I was really digging it. I can easily see why so many of my friends loved this book. Overall I enjoyed the story. I thought that the writing was good. I felt that the author was able to convey a story well. I didn't think that there were too many details, or not enough details. She conveyed the emotions of her characters well.

I really enjoyed how she had her own take on the vampire lore an even had Donna make exasperated statements on how nothing she had learned was right. I did enjoy the fresh take on the vampire story. I also like how there was an immediate attraction and chemistry with the main characters that was confirmed for Conner when he tasted Donna's blood for the first time by accident.

Where I had issues was with Donna. The first chapter or two I was loving the book because I thought I would love Donna. Turns out I hated Donna really quick. She had the whole "I'm a strong independent man" thing down to a science. To the point where she just came off as so full of herself and beyond stubborn. I'm sorry that you feel you got this and you need no ones help when your a human dealing with vampires. Every time that Conner tried to do something for her safety, or ya know just something thoughtful, she immediately took it as he was trying to control her, pay her way or stifle her in some way. I'm all for women being independent but Jesus I was getting a snowflake vibe off of her. I could see her being a women who would talk about guys holding doors open for her. I know that most likely that this was not the authors intent, but this was how the character came off to me.

I also thought that the main "villain" in the book could of had more insight brought to her. I felt that the whole story ARC there as well as character development could have been a bit more.

Overall I liked the book, but I didn't like it. Donna and an undeveloped story arc brought down the book for me. Though I can say since what really brought the book down for me was Donna I am waffling with reading the next book in the series. The authors writing was good, I just could not get behind one of the main characters. I would still encourage someone to read it though if the book synopsis speaks to them. Obviously others have found this book very satisfying.
5.0 étoiles sur 5 I was totally captivated from the moment this story began. 26 mai 2017

I was totally captivated from the moment this story began. Donna Perry was my kinda girl. She was funny, snarky, sarcastic and open minded. She took the knowledge of Conner Savage being a vampire like a champ. She would get completely turned on when Conner was around and was ready to jump his bones at the drop of a hat...especially when he got angry with her and his slight Scottish accent became much more prominent; which of course totally turned her on. Shoot, I would be too with a hottie like him around. I'd be making him angry every day just to hear his accent and get my engine going. Who wouldn't?

I absolutely LOVED this story. This is my second jump into a vampire romance and I'm totally kicking myself for not reading this sooner. C.C. Wood did an amazing job of keeping the theme light but still maintaining an air of caution/danger that revolves around the vampire world. It was the PERFECT combination. And I am super stoked to dig in to the next book in this until the next one, I'm off to read Alex and Ivie's story next.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 A very enjoyable read! 10 août 2014

The book blurb says it all. A unique twist on the whole vampire genre, Bite Me is a quick, sexy, fun read with a wonderful mix of suspense, hilarious dialogue, erotic heat, and, of course, romance. Think True Blood vs. Sex in the City.

The heroine of this PNR, Donna Perry, is a smart, feisty, independent woman who's snarky humor had me laughing out loud throughout the entire story.

"I'm not exactly frightened of you, Conner. I just think maybe you have issues only a great deal of therapy and several types of antipsychotics can fix."

And Conner Savage (swoon) ... well, Conner is a beautiful, sexy, 340-year-old (give or take a year or two) Scottish vampire--an immortal Highlander, and, yes, at one point he dons a kilt. He's the perfect mix of sweet and dominant, and believes he has found his soul mate in Donna.

"You are more valuable to me than my own desires. If I have to keep you here against your will and watch you walk away when it's over, I will. Whatever it takes, Donna, I will do it. My heart belongs to you and anything that would harm you will harm me."

Other than a few typos along the way, my only complaint was that the ending was a tad rushed--thus the 4 stars. Nonetheless, a standalone with its own HEA, Bite Me was a very enjoyable read, and I have no doubt we'll hear more about Donna and Conner in the next book in the series, Once Bitten, Twice Shy.
3.0 étoiles sur 5 Outpaced by Sexual Escapades 8 mai 2017

Do you like steamy scenes? Yes? Do you like so many of them that it extends the story arc past what your patience can allow for? I'm not sure. Listen, this is still a pretty decent vampire romance but it needs a bit of pruning and rearranging. Wood has a clear talent but I think (SPOILERS) she was too quick to move the characters towards sex and couldn't scale it back afterwards. If you are fine with plots moving at a slower pace and sexual escapades at a quick pace then this will be an ideal book for you. A little work and it would have moved up a star or two in my opinion. Check out her NSFW series, it is delightful.
