Description du produit

Revue de presse

'BLACK LIES, RED BLOOD is the latest in your essential reading'. Euro Crime Blog 'The gifted Kjell Eriksson, who won the Swedish Crime Academy Award for Best Crime Novel, is a distinctive and unusual talent. There is a direct and unadorned quality to his prose (as rendered in a highly professional translation) that is somewhat deceptive; beneath the straightforwardly rendered narrative, there is a profound poetic sensibility here-unforced and unobtrusive, certainly, but granting Black Lies, Red Blood a more elusive quality than most Nordic crime fiction.' --The Good Book Guide

Présentation de l'éditeur

Nominated for the Best Swedish Crime Novel five times, Nordic Noir star Kjell Eriksson returns with a new book in his international bestselling series Uppsala, Sweden. Inspector Ann Lindell has little time to enjoy her new relationship with journalist Anders Brant before he leaves on an assignment, and she is called upon to investigate the disappearance of a young woman, Klara Lovisa Bolinder. When Lindell's colleagues discover the body of a murdered homeless man the evidence suggests that Brant could be involved. Lindell is forced to battle her fears about her relationship if she is to discover that happened to Klara and as the Uppsala Police Department unearth more information about the homeless man, they fear they may be looking for a serial killer . . .

5.0 étoiles sur 5 If you liked the first four Ann Lindell books, this is more of the same.... 13 mars 2015

After reading the reviews for the fifth book in this series I was somewhat hesitant to purchase it on my Kindle. But in the end my satisfactory experiences with Ericksson's previous four offerings won out, and I made the transaction.

I'm glad I ignored the reviews...no offense intended to those who dismissed this book as "not as good as...etc." I have now read 30% of it without coming up for air, and I whole-heartedly disagree with that analysis. This is classic Ericksson at his best, easily on par with the rest of the series, and definitely worth the purchase. It is not a romance novel, it contains romantic elements. Not sure what unwritten rule was broken by the author in weaving some romance into the overall tapestry.

Looking forward to the rest of this story, but frankly I felt compelled to defend it before reading another word.

Can't wait for #6, phlegmatic reviewers be damned.

Very much looking forward to #6 in the series

3.0 étoiles sur 5 a sexist drama! 11 septembre 2015

One of the biggest elements of the story is the lead detective (Ann L)'s inability to deal with the disappearance --and possible rejection, O horrors--of her new boyfriend. It would be hard to imagine a male detective calling apart over some woman, first of all. Secondly, all the drama around our her personal life just got in the way of an otherwise excellent story!

I have read all the Ann Lindell books and looked forward to this but Black Lies, Red Blood is a disappointment. Ann is made too needy for the loss of a heavy relationship of a few weeks with Anders Brant, who is a murder suspect and unreachable in Brazil where he is doing some research for his journalism and putting an end to a relationship with a Brazilian woman who loved him. I think the best writing in the book is in Anders' reflections on Brazil, its faults and its beauty, the haves and have nots of its people. Until you get to the climax with its violence and denouement, the book seems sometimes to lean more heavily on sexual relationships than on solving crime. Of course the disappearances of young women raped and murdered, not the major crime but one Ann keeps trying doggedly to solve, is sexual too, but it is hard to see Ann failing apart so badly-- to me not entirely believable, not the way i expected this character to go.

I agree with other reviewers who note it's a bit disjointed in its story lines but I still enjoy this author very much.

This another in the Ann Lindell police procedural series. I did not like this one as much as the others - because Ann was a little bit too "needy" , "falling apart" in this book
Ann meets a journalist, Anders, she falls "madly" in love/lust. Then he has to leave to go on a trip but she does not know where. Then his name comes up in a murder investigation. She becomes almost catatonic - which to me seems a bit much. Instead of seeming like a strong police officer who has flaws (like most of us do) - she seemed pathetic
The murder stories themselves are interesting and entertaining. Ann's behavior is not. I liked Sammy much more than Ann
