Présentation de l'éditeur

A Novel in The Tav series

Jake Manning’s smart mouth frequently gets him into trouble. Because of it, he can’t hold a job. Combined with some bad luck, it's prevented him from keeping steady employment. A huge debt looms over him, and alone he shoulders the care of his alcoholic mother and three younger sisters. When a housekeeping position opens, Jake’s so desperate he leaps at the opportunity. On landing, he finds his new boss, Patrick Stanford, a fussy, arrogant, rude… and blind man.

Born without sight, Patrick is used to being accommodated, but he’s met his match with Jake, who doesn’t take any of his crap and threatens to swap all the braille labels on his groceries and run off with his guide dog unless he behaves.

Jake gets a kick out of Patrick. Things are looking up: the girls are starting their own lives and his mum’s sobriety might stick this time. He’s sacrificed everything for his family; maybe it’s time for him to live his life and start a relationship with Patrick. When his mother needs him, guilt makes his choice between family and Patrick difficult, and Jake must realize he’s not alone anymore.

Okay. So. Thank you Ms. Kaye for this book and these characters and their stories. I'm fangirling right now. I can't say i'm sorry because i am not. OH MY GAWD! THIS WAS SUCH A GOOD F******* BOOK! You don't even know. You would if you read it though. and you do if you did. If you haven't i ENCOURAGE AND DEMAND that you read/buy this book. It was so ******* brilliant.

Jake. Oh Jake. A fellow soul he truly values the art of sarcasm and snarkery . You sir, win at life. Jake comes off a bit brash but his life pretty much made him that way. He might seem a bit much when he opens his mouth, but he just doesn't and refuses to take s*** from people. He's taking care of his 3 sisters, his one niece, and his alcoholic mother. He has to pay off her debts and he balances several jobs just so he can take care of the people whom he loves. He's a very caring person. He'll do anything for his family, including putting their needs above that of his own. He's more of a father than a brother to his siblings. He's had to be. He couldn't rely on his mother. None of them can.

In comes Patrick. He's blind, rude, wealthy, but he too is quite kind. He's had harden his heart because of the way people view his handicap. Jake is hired to clean his house after many of the other maids quit on Patrick because of his extremely high expectations and his refusal to lower them. Jake needs the money and he isn't one to shy away from hard work and after several months and humorous notes on manners the two finally meet and IT'S BASICALLY EXPLOSIVE.
They are so perfect for each other. Their romance is pretty much my favorite one to read about right now. I've taken to re-reading the story because i don't want to say goodbye to these characters.

Buy and read this book. Hopefully you will enjoy it as much i did. (I know my level of enthusiasm is a bit off putting but I'm a nerd . A rather enthusiastic one when it comes to reading.)

I read this in less than a day, didn't want to put it down, loved it from beginning to end. The cover fist caught my attention on Amazon, then I read the synopsis, got the sample right away, and was buying the book before halfway through the sample.

The only weird moments were the scenes with Jake's rude attitude to his freaking employer at the beginning. I mean, I really don't think he would have gotten away with that. But, he and Patrick soon became friends then lovers, so that bit blew over quickly. And the rest of the book was fabulous--emotional, heart-warming, hilarious, enlightening. It was a pleasure to read, felt genuine, and made me so happy. Jake was such an incredible guy, raising his sisters from the time he was still a child himself, supporting them and his drunkard mother still, and then dealing with the twists (that I guessed early on). I loved him and Patrick as a couple, and Patrick fit Jake perfectly as needed someone to care for him, and Jake needed to care for someone, in both the physical and emotional sense, now that Jake's sisters were moving on with their lives. This book just worked in every sense, and it will stick with me. The plot was also original and flowed very naturally.

This is the second book I've read from Renae Kaye (I also loved Loving Jay), and I definitely hope there are more coming. Highly recommended, especially if you like books with an MC with a disability. The other I've read with the narrator having a blind love interest was N.R Walker's Blind Faith series, and I actually liked this book better than that. It felt more genuine and less construed and formulaic than Walker's series.

I went straight from Renae Kaye's first novel 'Loving Jay' to this one. And it's a darn pity there isn't another one to go to... This woman can write.

I won't rehash the plot, because the synopsis says most of it. What I will say, Ms. Kaye writes excellent characters, her characters have a life (they have jobs and struggles and friends and family). In this case Jake has a lot of complications going on in his life, by contract Patrick is isolated, mostly because of his blindness and his life is smooth, but limited. These two characters mesh so beautifully. I loved the snarky notes Patrick wrote to his 'housekeeper', not realising at least three housekeepers had already moved on from his employ before Jake takes the job. Patrick doesn't know because the agency hasn't bothered to inform him, they just keep trying to find people to do the job, and put up with him. I loved Jake's notes back to his employer.

Yes, you do need to suspend belief in some parts, but it a lovely story.

Ms. Kaye, if you're reading this review -- stop, you need to be spending your time writing another novel instead.

I cannot put into words how much I loved this book. I loved the slow build of Jake and Patrick's relationship. It was very low angst (which I love). I loved reading Jake and Patrick's notes. They were hilarious. They had established a rapport long before they ever met in person. Jake didn't take Patrick's crap. Patrick truly adored Jake. It was obvious. I loved that Jake didn't allow Patrick's blindness stop him from falling in love. They were absolutely perfect together. There is family drama, but Jake takes care of his own. I truly love that about him.

Renae Kaye is now on my favorite authors list.

Renae Kaye writes authentic Australian characters in a way that people the world over can enjoy. The Blinding Light is a beautiful story about strength in adversity, friendship and love, with many laugh out loud moments in the lives of her MC's. Renae's books can always be counted on to make you laugh, but they are all also each uniquely different in their journey to a HEA. I can't recommend this author enough. She's a brilliant example of excellence in the genre of MM romance!
