4.0 étoiles sur 5 Fun Little Brain Teaser,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 6 mai 2014
Par Robin Lee - Publié sur Amazon.com

LineUP is a fun little brain teaser, reinforces memory and may have you caught up for hours playing..You must find the color sequence of the squares as fast as you can to gain more points...It has a tutorial in the Beginners mode that has a hand that shows you how to follow the directions of the colors..You have a time limit..You get 3 lives per level which are hearts..Or you have the ability to go back levels to try for a better score...

There are 4 levels the Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert...I would say that it was easy and casual but as you advance it gets more challenging...You can shut the music of separately from the sound effects...I think it's a good game for all ages from children to adults can have fun with it...A good FAOTD and time killer...

No malware, excessive permissions, IAP or ads...

Does have Facebook integration but it just goes to the developers page...You never need to access that button for anything....

Playing on my Kindle HDX 7.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Just an OK game that I would call average, I am glad it was free as I wouldn't purchase it! 6 mai 2014

The game has 32 levels and 4 modes of Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert. The Beginner level is a 3 by 3 matrix of colored squares, Intermediate is a 4 by 4 matrix, Advanced is a 5 by 5 matrix, and Expert is a 6 by 6 matrix. The game shows you a sequence of 3 colored squares and your goal is to find and match the color sequence in the matrix. You can go in a straight line vertically or horizontally and you can even turn a corner. Each level has a timer.

This is a simple brain teaser the focuses on how quickly you can identify the proper color sequence. It is just an OK game what I would call average. After playing the game I realized that I would not have purchased it as I didn't find it that much fun. I also found many of the colors of orange and red were very similar and if you have trouble recognizing colors then this game is not for you.

Permissions:
* Wake lock to keep your device awake while playing the app
* Internet access
It also contains the code to access Facebook and it uses Amazon licensing. Facebook is used to connect to the developer and to share the app's scores with you.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 It's okay; not great but not bad either. For the price, it's worth trying if you like mental exercises. 6 mai 2014

For 99-cents, some people are going to be happy with the purchase, and others aren't going to be so pleased. Still, it's less than a candy bar or soft drink, so there's not a lot to lose to see if you like it.

[Note: This is *NOT* a good game for people with a deficiency in color perception or vision! That should be obvious, but I think it bears saying.]

The object is to trace the color pattern along the grid of colored squares. Think of it as a visual Simon Says, only with more colors and a timer for each move. You win each of the 128 levels, 32 each of different difficulties, by completing a specified number of patterns. You have three hearts which equate to wrong moves. It's easy to restart a level, or to retry a level, so 'losing' at a level isn't bad.

The game keeps score depending on how quickly you solve the series of paths. This means that certain people will naturally be good and some people will naturally have issues. In playing for a little bit, I did notice I was getting better at it, so it does live up to its promise of exercising the brain.

The music and sound effects are a bit annoying, but not overly so, and the sound has three settings: all sounds, 'fx' only, or mute.

The game seemed to accidentally register some correct moves as incorrect. It may be me moving too fast for the game or device, so I can't say for certain it is the game itself. Just be aware of this.

The developer, Blyts, has a bit of an interesting past. They have offered some very good - even great - games. On the other hand, they've also released at least one extremely troubling app, and the dev's behaviour on that app's reviews was reprehensible. Yet the developer seems to have learned from this, and has released both better games with less problematic permissions, and hasn't mucked with the reviews.

By the way, as far as permissions goes, it does have the Facebook code implemented, but I haven't seen any overbearing activity regarding Facebook, which is good.

Again, the game is middle-of-the-road good; isn't great, and it isn't terrible. My 10-year-old son might enjoy it, and for 99-cents it isn't much to worry about if you don't like it.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Needs some work but has potential 6 mai 2014

I give LineUp! two and a half stars, but rounded up to three because Amazon only allows ratings by whole stars. Essentially, the game has potential but needs some kinks and polishing.

The game has no formal tutorial level, but it does demonstrate new concepts as they are introduced.

Graphics are nice. My Kindle Fire had no problems with displaying them and there was no input lag.

The volume is a single toggle. By default all the sounds are enabled. Press the button once and the music is muted while leaving other sound enabled ("FX"). Press it again and all sound is muted. If any of it is too loud, the player will have to adjust their device's sound volume. I muted the music because, while catchy, was distracting. Minus half a star for the sound control and background music that does not stay in the background.

The biggest issue was playability. A number of times, the game wanted me to connect color squares that I could not reach with any move. The only thing that slightly reduced the frustration is a player is given three hearts; if the player goofs up, you still have a chance to recover. The hearts reset back to three once the player moves on to the next level. Minus one star.

LineUp! does have Facebook integration, hence the network permission. It seems that it's for a score leaderboard but I couldn't verify since I do not have a Facebook account.

I played several levels, then exited the app. Unfortunately, the app does not actually shut down when I used the Kindle's back arrow. It doesn't seem to be much of a battery drainer, but when I want an app closed, I want it closed! Minus a star.

As a Free App of the Day, it is probably worth acquiring and hoping for more updates. It's also worth it if you like timed puzzles.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 Newly Added Permission is UNACCEPTABLE TRICKERY. AVOID! 6 mai 2014

A new permission added with an update... and it is RIDICULOUS to have this permission added. ZERO REASON to have it included unless something shady is going on. I am not kidding. I had originally given 3 stars for the bland game play, and with this trickery added in, this game is now a zero star suck fest.

I honestly never was a fan of SIMON SAYS and the innumerable spin-off physical games it spawned, and I have discovered today that I am not a fan of the digital progeny either. Nevertheless, LINEUP is a simple speed-swipe game that carries on faithfully the tradition.

Full Network Access - Facebook integration with two separate links on the main page, the iconic icon and a sneaky Scores button. No other outside linkings, pushes, or otherwise obnoxious popups.

Wake Lock - while active, the game will keep your device running. The back-key does not exit from any screen; instead it either prompts a sub-menu from the play screen or an exit confirmation from the main menu, which does cleanly exit. I do think this is a completely unnecessary permission due to the nature of the game (no long, inherently idle periods) with zero justification to have it keep your device awake (certainly wouldn't be to listen to the same short repetitious synth loop).

Swipe in order the listed colors in the shortest amount of time. Fair amount of play, but like all other SIMON SAYS-esque games, it got fairly boring for me. The landscape orientation, however, is very large, especially on my 10.1" screen, so should do well on smaller screens and phones. As large as it is, it didn't stop me from reading the color order from right-to-left (whoops - brain dyslexia). *I didn't personally encounter the "impossible order" bug, but if this is indeed consistently present, and frankly it doesn't sound like it is, then the flaw certainly would swipe LINEUP! down to 2 star rating.*

I have no strong feelings for or against LINEUP! other than a blargh over the Wake Lock permission (and the apparent "color order" issue). For those who do like the genre, this game will entertain and is safe for kids.
