There are lots of books on book marketing advice out there, and most are simply rehashes of the basics - good book, some kind of platform, keep going etc - with a lot of padding. While I found this book a little slow to get going, it certainly delivers when we get to the 99 essential points. Many of these are original and all are well explained.
A very thorough bible indeed for all indie authors.

This is, by far, the best book I've discovered on marketing, and I've read A LOT! In fact, I even recently released one, with similar tips, but not quite as in-depth as the ones you'll find in here.This book is full of unique ideas to expand an author's following and build a stronger brand.

His writing style is so down to earth and engaging. I felt as if he were sitting across from me, sharing all this brilliant information. And the best part is that most of these tips can be implemented right away, which is what authors truly want.

No one is above improvement. We should all strive to learn as much as we can about as many topics as we can. As Dr. Seuss said, "The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." I wake up every day and strive to learn something new.

I thank the author for sharing his knowledge on the industry with us. I now have a new dream to work toward--being a guest author on Norm's blog!

Wow. There's seriously a LOT of information and ideas on some effective ways to market your book as a new or self-published author, & I'll definitely be implementing some of them - as soon as I finish having this panic attack! :) I'm just grateful that Mr. Schriever has taken the time to put all this info in one easily accessible place, often with links to sites where you can further investigate what he's talking about. As a first-time author with a new book out (Grace and Dignity), and ZERO marketing savvy, I often feel like I'm floundering around aimlessly (or rather flopping around like a flounder!), not knowing what is the best avenue for my efforts. And although I am beyond overwhelmed by all the suggestions he offers, I'm at least happy to know that I've already done some of them and that I have all of his ideas in one place for easy access when I'm ready (when I'm ready to crawl out from under that panic rock, that is!). I would recommend this book to other first-time authors and self-published authors who, like myself, need some serious guidance on how to succeed in this crazy book world!

5 Things to Know About: The Book Marketing Bible

1. The Book Marketing Bible is a book by Norm Schriever that focuses on marketing strategies for self published authors to get their books out there!

2. Right off the bat, I knew that I was going to like this book. Why? Because Norm Schriever has a really nice writing voice. He comes off as someone who knows what he's talking about, but he also doesn't think he knows it all. He's just using examples from his own writing experiences and sharing what works.

3. This book is chock full of good ideas. I especially like his tips for using social media because that is something that frequently overwhelms me. Already after reading his book I've downloaded Hootsuite to try and accomplish more.

4. I liked reading Norm's personal experiences with marketing his first and second books. I'm not usually interested in travel writing but I'm really interested in reading South of Normal now!

5. Honestly, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend to anyone who is thinking about self publishing or who is looking to gain more from their self publishing experience. It is just chock full of information and it's also entertaining.

This book is packed with solid practical advice. Schriever achieves a good balance between cautioning his readers about the many challenges to becoming an author and offering inspirational passages in the "you-can-do-it" vein. His suggestions regarding finding your target audience, using Twitter, registering a hashtag (I'd never thought of doing that), and blogging at least several times a week--all that information and much more will be particularly valuable for first-time authors. But even though I published my first book forty years ago and have authored seven since with a variety of publishers (university, trade, and independent presses), I learned a lot from Schriever. To underline this point: Both first-time and veteran authors will benefit from reading "The Book Marketing Bible." At $2.99 it's a bargain!

I loved it. Great writing and excellent tips. There were tips I never would of thought of like; get a Wikipedia article, offering prizes but NOT your book.

It also mentioned some really good ones that I thought of, but wasn't sure whether or not to go through with, and it answered my questions.

A must read! I feel extremely lucky that I got to read this book for just 0.99!!!
