Présentation de l'éditeur

Bowl Full of Memories: 100 Years of Football at the Yale Bowl covers the Yale football from its inception in 1872 and pays tribute to the historic Yale Bowl, which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2014. Based on more than 150 interviews—more than 100 of which were conducted with former players—the book serves as a time-capsule of Yale football by those who took part in this most storied college football program. Players, coaches, writers, broadcasters and fans give their view of the spectacle, people, places, and contests that make Yale football history come to life. Marazzi, who has seen almost every game in the Yale Bowl in the last 50 years, gives due attention to the career of towering figures like legendary Yale football coach Walter Camp, whose story is important to understanding Yale football and the evolution of the game as we know it. And of course he covers the one of the oldest rivalries in college sports, between Yale and Harvard.
The book takes readers into the huddle, the locker room, the practice field, the campus, and the hearts and minds of Yalies over the past century. Bowl Full of Memories: 100 Years of Football at the Yale Bowl is a book that every Yale alum, Ivy League and college football fan will want to own and refer to often.

Rich Marazzi has penned a beautiful book chronicling the storied history of Yale Bowl. A Bowl Full of Memories: 100 Years of Football at Yale Bowl combines photos, history, and personal anecdotes from over 100 coaches, players, broadcasters, and individuals directly involved with Yale athletics. This book is not just for Yale alums or college football fans, it can and should be enjoyed by those fascinated by history or those simply enamored with the traditions of the Ivy League. The book itself is physically lovely, a coffee table sized tome with both black and white and color photos, and each section is well presented so you can enjoy the historical content in snippets or all at once. The interviews with former players who share memories of their time on the field and in the clubhouse are particularly compelling.

Simply put, Rich Marazzi brings boundless and infectious enthusiasm to all his work, and "A Bowl Full of Memories: 100 Years of Football at the Yale Bowl" is no exception.

The pages fairly burst with an intense passion for the subject matter; a passion so strong that very few (if any) reading the book cannot help but be drawn into the fascinating and storied football history and lore that has had its home in New Haven for the last 100 years - and counting.

In short, all the praise that this book has received is unquestionably merited and richly (pun intended) deserved, and much of the reason why this tome is as enjoyable and impressive as it is comes from the author's ability to infuse his aforementioned enthusiasm into every page of this thoroughly marvelous book.

"A Bowl Full of Memories" is an enthralling read and a football aficionados dream, this diary of yarns with classic patinaed photos is vibrantly written. Undoubtedly, Marazzi's magnus opus, he takes us on a spirited stroll along our country's ever expanding fascination with the great game of football. A 100 year slice of life, the book not only chronicles great football stories, but lays bare the effervescent characters who played on its 100 yard long stage.
Viscerally, its narrative captures the essence of why football has truly become Americas number one watched sport - its passion. From a rather large menu of options, "A Bowl Full of Memories" has surely stirred the pot, becoming the special of the day, easy to digest with nourishment and sustenance for all. Tethered forever, this tome riveted me back to Saturdays a long time ago, shared with dad and gramps, and nothing goes deeper than those family connections; a sure recipe for nostalgia.

This book is a great gift for anyone who has spent time out at the Bowl on autumn afternoons watching Yale football. I am an alum who was at Yale when such legendary players as Dick Jauron and Gary Fencik were on the team.. The book not only brought back some wonderful memories from that period; it provided so much interesting information about a variety of aspects of Yale football over the years that I did not know.

The author has carefully pulled together interviews with and anecdotes from former players, coaches, journalists, and fans--and has done so in a way that makes the book very readable.

As Siskel and Ebert used to say: "Two thumbs up!"

I have lived in greater New Haven all my life and have been to many games in the Bowl starting in 1948 with my dad took me to the Vanderbilt game. This book brought back many fond memories of the great games, players and coaches that have played in the historic bowl over the years. Reading the story's of the Levi Jackson and Jordan Oliver era's in the 40's and 50's, the undefeated 1960 team with Mike Pyle and Ben Balme, the Calvin Hill- Brian Dowling era and legendary Hall of Fame coach Carm Cozza makes this a must have book for former players, Yale alumni and fan's of Yale football alike.
