Présentation de l'éditeur

If you thought Arnold Schwarzenegger put Graz, Austria on the bodybuilding map, how about Stuart McRobert and Nicosia, Cyprus? Imagine, one man, on a Mediterranean island no less, who has the audacity to directly challenge most contemporary bodybuilding advice. Instead of being another me-too bodybuilding book, Brawn is unique: its tone is serious, its manner evangelical, but most importantly, its focus is on things that actually work for the average trainee. 'Drugs are evil and the scourge of bodybuilding,' says McRobert, in effect 'and forget about Mr O-type training it just won't work for most people. I'll tell you some things that do work'. Brawn has most bodybuilding books beaten hands down in the depth department, but its biggest contribution just might be in breadth: Brawn introduces you to over 90 percent of the factors that will determine your ultimate success in the gym. A very useful book, which can help a lot of people to make tremendous bodybuilding progress.

Biographie de l'auteur

Stuart is one of the most established and respected writers in the exercise genre. He was first published in 1981, and has written for all the mainstream bodybuilding magazines including 'Muscle Fitness, FLEX, Iron Man' - over 500 articles in total. He has a degree in eduction, over 35 years of training experience, was the editor of a training magazine for 15 years and is the author of 'BRAWN, BEYOND BRAWN, NEW BRAWN SERIES'.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Follow the methods and results are yours 20 décembre 2016

This is THE book for the steroid-free, old school trainer. These are the methods that worked for the men and women of the pre-drug era (pre-late 1950s) and continue to work today. If strength AND a good physique are your goals, ignore the flavor of the week and WOD hype and follow the timeless knowledge presented here. I give copies of this book to students who wish to achieve the strength that I have in my 50s. Who have stuck with the methods here have had great results to the person. May this never go out of print.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Inspiring at times...confusing at others 15 avril 2014

I've heard a lot of good things about this book so decided to give it a read. It's okay, but repetitive and confusing if you're looking for an actual/specific program to follow. The information is honest and down-to-earth. It could have been more concise. Also, I walked away with not really knowing the specifics of where exactly to start with this because the author is all over the place in the way the information is presented...basically I learned to "experiment and learn for yourself." However, the best info I walked away with was to forget about the pipe dream of supplements or looking like a pro body builder. This book will bring you back to reality and provide you with a more realistic approach in achieving your goals.

There's some great info in this book. I just wish the author wasn't so depressing. He also kept repeating himself over and over, and hating on steroid users. Can be condensed by 1/3.

I am a 48 year old Gulf War Veteran with a Veritable Laundry list of Medical diagnoses to boot... It has taken me more than 3 decades to finally confirm, what my body has known for some time e.g. That the Genetically average bodybuilder/athlete will fail miserably on the routines advocated by the so-called experts! It was only after I decided to follow an abbreviated program; in which I trained the " Big lifts" only once every 5-7 days or as I got bigger and stronger, even less frequently, that I was able to break through plateus e.g. 315 plus on bench etc!!! I highly recommend this book... It is now my " Bodybuilding Bible" that I will recommend to every Drug-free " Hard Gainer" i.e. Most of us mere mortals!

Great info. I bought Beyond Brawn years ago and I've skimmed it many times, it repeats itself many times. Brawn is more focused while still having a ton of good info.
