4.0 étoiles sur 5 Enchanting Storm 26 juillet 2004
Par Elizabeth Scully - Publié sur
Format: Poche
Violent, unpredictable weather will destroy the Earth, says the Book of Shadows, unless the proper ritual is performed in time. The Charmed Ones learn that four elementals (people with the ability to control one of the four elements: Earth, Water, Wind, and Fire) must come together on the Night of Aeolus and read a chant. Naturally, a powerful demon has other plans. He sends his minions to steal the powers of the elementals so he alone will control the weather. When the minions go after Tyler, the firestarter encountered by the Halliwells in the fourth season episode Lost and Bound, he runs away and seeks refuge with the sisters. The Charmed ones have less than a day to find the three other elementals and convince them to perform the ritual, all the while protecting Tyler and themselves from minions who can use their powers against them. If they fail, all is lost...

This book is unusual because of its length (234 pages makes it the longest Charmed book yet) and its use of Darryl as a major character. Darryl is in charge of the investigation of Tyler's disappearance, and he must risk his career to keep him safe.

Overall, The Brewing Storm is a compelling read. The characterization of minor characters is well done, and the relationships between characters, particularly Piper and Tyler, are poignantly expressed. I strongly recommend it to any Charmed fan.

I really enjoyed this Charmed book. It is about strange weather which is brewing around San Franciso which is leading up to a ceremony of the elementals - earth, fire, wind and water.

After the firestarter is killed, Tyler a young kid is promoted to the ceremony. He ends up with the Charmed Ones and we get to see the mother come out in Piper as she tries to protect and look out for Tyler.

Daryl has quite a large role in this novel right up to the end. His job is to find the missing Tyler and keep the FBI away from the Halliwells.

A very face paced book with plenty of characters with spunk and attitude. The author has really gotten the sense of the TV characters and portrayed them very well.

A must read in the Charmed collection.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 This is the best Charmed book so far 2 novembre 2004

I felt that this book was really good!

Not only did they bring back Tyler, they also brought in 3 new characters: Windwalker, Waterbearer and Earthshaker. The four form the Elementals.

Darryl plays a huge role in this, and I thought that was good. I also enjoyed the twist at the very end-where he found out they needed the "Spirit" Elemental to complete the circle.

The Charmed Ones also had something to learn, that despite having magical powers, they still could lead very normal lives, juggling their careers; and this was good in showing that they're not invincible; at the end of the day they're still humans (well, half at least).

By the way, for those deluded people out there, Tempus is the time-manipulating demon, but the demon here is Tempest (which actually means 'storm'), so effectively Paul Ruditis did not make a mistake. In fact, he even emphasized that Tempus had been vanquished-go read the top of page 59.

Overall, I felt that this was a fantastic book, arguably the best, and deserved the 5 stars I gave it.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Darryl's Time To Shine 4 août 2004
Par Joshua Koppel - Publié sur
Format: Poche
In a story similar to The Fifth Element, a cataclysm may occur every hundred years. It is held off by the uniting of four elementals at a certain time and place. As the story opens, a Firestarter is being pursued by demons as he is to lead the elementals. As he is overcome, he knows his duties will pass to another.

Twelve-year-old Tyler, a Firestarter, has gone missing. In the mundane world, Darryl is assigned to the case, and soon finds himself tangled up with the charmed ones once again. The Charmed Ones quickly get drawn into events and strive to locate and unite the elementals while battling the minions of the demon Tempest.

The sisters split up to find the elementals while Darryl is protecting Tyler. The story moves forward nicely with little actual magic going on in most of it. In the end the Charmed Ones and the elementals must face Tempest himself while Darryl learns his true role in things. Although the title and the demon's name make one think of weather, it is really Earth forces at work as we also experience earthquakes.

This is one of the best Charmed books I have read. The character development was strong and pronounced, Darryl became far more three-dimensional and the whole thing read like it could have stood on its own and not just as a licenced title. If you like Charmed at all, you will really like this one.
