The CISSP Exam Prep Questions book was exactly what I was looking for. Even though there are no books with real exam CISSP questions, this book offered a wide array of test questions on each of the 10 domains. This organization allows you to concentrate on each of the domains one at a time. This worked well for me as I typically only have small blocks of time for studying. Passing the practice exams in the book allowed me to become much more confident in my ability to pass the CISSP exam. If you're looking for extra practice before taking the exam, I highly recommend this book.
I was given this book in preparation for an upcoming CISSP exam, my first. I had no previous classroom or book experience with that specific subject. The closest I had come in the past was taking and passing the Security+ test. I was given the Shon Harris CISSP giganti-saurus book, also but being a relatively serious procrastinator, I knew I'd never even crack that thing open unless forced to at gunpoint. The ExamCram book looked far more appealing and questions and answers seem to be how I study best.
I was told beforehand that NONE of the questions in this book would be on the test, which turned out to be pretty true (minus a few physical security things that can't be asked another way) so, instead of studying the questions and answers I used them as a platform for the basis of my understanding. This book, at the end of each set of Q&A has the explained answers for each question. I read a question, took a stab at the answer and read about why I was either right or wrong and moved on. It worked fantastically, no joke.
I had the test on a Friday and I began studying 3 hours a day the Monday before. By Thursday, I felt I knew all I could fit into my head about CISSP and Friday I knocked out the test in an hour and 40 minutes. Somehow, I passed... I kid but, coming out of that test room, even though you feel you applied all the knowledge you had to the test, it felt like I had failed. I didn't even review the questions I had marked to review because I didn't want to go back and talk myself out of any answers (which I have a habit of doing).
In conclusion, if you are going to be lazy like I am and only study one very small (in comparison) book, make it this one. It will save you $600.
To be fair, I passed... and this book helped.... a bit.
The Shon Harris book is perhaps, the best reference and the form of her chapter questions were pretty close to the real thing. I also found the Microsoft CISSP manual to be helpful. Those texts, coupled with cccure.org and Transcender test engines (and a healthy dose of Wikipedia) worked for me.
