Description du produit

Présentation de l'éditeur

Abel Wilder, werewolf Alpha, has gone missing, leaving his mate and the pack in a panic. His captor magicked his scent out of the sanctuary so that his mate can’t track him down. Only one witch can cast a spell that powerful.

James Faulkner has finally crossed a line that Elise Kavanagh can’t ignore.

Elise is going to have to hunt James down before the werewolf pack loses its Alpha and Rylie loses her mate. And Elise will have to find a way to make sure that James never bothers the pack—or anyone else—ever again.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 New Book, same problems 1 janvier 2014

This book follows the same format as the other ones. Elise is either hungry or wounded. Shes never at a hundred percent even after 4 books of this series. The author does adress the issue more but it should have been handled already. Im tired of reading about it.

Unlike the last book, Elise is barely in this book. Personally I like Elise much more than everybody else. James is a little better in this book but I still hate him. I skimmed through a bit of this book because some of the build up to the end didn't grab me.

The big picture story really started shaping up. The author had to jump around a lot, which I wasnt fond of, but it did put things into focus. The last 25% was really good. Made everything else worth it. The author really sets up the next book in a way that as much as this book frustrated me, I really want to read the next book.

I didn't take notes while I read so I will just express that I get a feeling of "wow what a freaking cool book" when I think about what I read. I love Reine's twisty, inventive, wtf inducing, and just plain mind blowing world. It doesn't matter the series, characters, or even the time period I've enjoyed all I've read and am glad I have a bunch more of her books to catch up on. (I started collecting them whenever one would go on sale hence why I'm finishing this series after the others.)
In relation to the characters ... she is so very good at creating those characters that don't follow a total black and white sort of morality. One time you hate them and another you love them. Oh and some you just hate all together no matter what they do because they're annoying as hell (I'm looking at you Riley.)

kk, done fan girling now

5.0 étoiles sur 5 DO NOT BE PUT OFF BY THE COVER ART!!! 11 août 2014

If you go by the way the covers look for the books in this series, most readers will probably just pass on trying them out. This would be a grave error on your part if you like dark (really dark) fiction. The covers make the series look like a teen supernatural romance series a la Buffy (don't get me wrong BTVS was one of the best shows to ever grace television) or something like "Tween-light" (makes me a little ill putting those in the same sentence). This couldn't be further from the truth, as the stories about Elise Kavanagh are mind-bending action-horror with just a hint (and I mean just a hint) of romantic bits of the storyline. This has everything from witches, demons, angels, and the superhuman humans that are born to fight all of them. There are also werewolves, which constitute most of the small amount of romance involved here, but the werewolves are extremely bad-ass fighters, so that makes up for everything. Hopping between dimensions, i.e. Heaven, Hell, and Earth is a regular occurrence, and Reine (author) has created a vast and intricate world with an extremely well thought-out mythology for her characters to occupy. I picked up the first three books because they were free, and a couple of weeks later, I've read everything in this series (I haven't read the werewolf books yet) and am eagerly awaiting the next installment. I pray that the conclusion of the Ascension series is not the end for Elise and co., because that would break my heart. Just really well done, and needs to be adapted into graphic novel form, or maybe TV or film. Scratch TV, it's too violent and too much would be lost in the translation. So please, do yourself a favor, if you like dark fantasy with a strong female lead character, ignore the silly cover art and read these books. The first three are free for now, so what do you have to lose?

I had never read or had any interest in reading urban fantasy until I started reading the Descent series. It was free and I thought what the heck. I never imagined I would get so hooked!
SM Reine is a great author with limitless imagination. All of her books pull you in, making you feel like you're actually in the story yourself and Caged in Bone is no different. The story line is well crafted and follows the rest of the series picking up where the last book left off. The characters are strong and in depth. Elise makes a great heroine. Even though she is extraordinary, Reine has kept Elise on a human and not-infallible level making her character more believable. I'm Still rooting for her and James!
I really hope when this series is over she continues another series incorporating the old characters, like she did from Seasons of the Moon and the Cain Chronicles. If you haven't read those two series you need too. It explains the origin of the pack and the back story of Rylie and Abel.
All-in-all, Caged in Bone is and excellent book and can't wait for the next book!
4.0 étoiles sur 5 As always, an involving fast-paced read 19 janvier 2014

First of all, I love Sara's urban fantasy stuff. When I first started reading her writing I was far from sure if it was my sort of thing but I quickly grew to enjoy the characterisation and well developed plots. I am astounded by Sara's never-ending imagination but even more so by her incredible ability to pump-out books at a shockingly fast rate: you never need to wait long for the next in the series.

Back to this book, I won't say too much about, if you've got this far in the Ascension series then you already know what it's about. If you haven't you need to start with the Descent series. It's a ride that's well worth the time.

Why not 5-stars? Well, for two reasons; primarily, I feel obliged to compare it to Paradise Damned and nothing really compares with that book. If Paradise Damned is 5-stars then everything else has to be at least one fewer! The other reason is that there were times when I would have liked a bit more opportunity to get inside Elise' head.

Overall an engaging read that, as always, leaves you wanting more.
