Présentation de l'éditeur

You've been there: feeling helpless, clueless, when a child you love totally bewilders you.

Maybe it's the tantrum at the store, or the hour-long bedtime battle, or the head-scratcher of getting your child to eat veggies. You wonder what on Earth to do, so you get advice, read books, watch videos, ask the internet. And still, something's missing.

You need a plan that addresses your child's needs, not everyone else's. Why couldn't children come with a handbook?

Turns out, children are born with a handbook. They ARE the handbook

In The Child Whisperer, bestselling author Carol Tuttle explains that children tell their parents every day exactly how they need to be parented. They tell their teachers exactly how they need to be taught. Children are trying to tell adults who they are so they can be recognized and treated in a way that honors them uniquely.

The Child Whisperer reveals that the key to raising happy, healthy, cooperative children lies in understanding and responding to a child's inner nature.

Children's true natures are written in the shape of their faces and expressed daily in their appearance, body language, tone of voice, and choice of words. Your child's unique laugh, cry, joys, worries, and even tantrums speak volumes about they type of parenting they need. And you'll learn exactly how to offer it by reading The Child Whisperer.

This simple but unique approach actually makes parenting more intuitive, fun, cooperative, and most importantly customized to your individual child.

The Child Whisperer will give you the tools to:

- Have a happier, more cooperative child, using less discipline
- Foster more confidence and natural success in your child
- Repair trouble parent/teen relationships
- Reconnect with your adult children

The Child Whisperer teaches how to read unsaid clues that children naturally give every day, and shows how parenting, teaching, coaching, and mentoring children can be an even more intuitive, cooperative experience than ever.

HASH(0x95bb22f4) étoiles sur 5 Incredible Parenting Solution Handbook 11 octobre 2012
Par Jennifer J. Smith - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché Achat vérifié
I've worked in the child development field for over 28 years and have a degree in professional child care. With all of the training and books I have read, I have never seen such a thorough resource for understanding children's individuality and how to guide them into joyful, productive adults. It's one of those "wish I would have had it years ago" book full of incredible information on understanding the four types of energy profiles in children. I have 6 children and 6 grandchildren and am thrilled to have a deeper understanding of their individuality.
It's so much more than just understanding a personality as other books have identified. It's about physical features, movement, ways of relating to the world and what motivates each type. By understanding a child's true nature, you can learn to parent or teach them without wounding and stifling their natural talents, abilities and tendencies which are the things that make them amazing and wonderful. As you become a "Child Whisperer" you will learn to guide them in a positively enriching way rather than trying to change them to what you think they should be or a traditional "mold" of social expectations.
Many tips throughout the book give you ideas in relating to each child's type. There is also a section on the pitfalls of traditional parenting methods and beliefs.
This is a book that every parent, grandparent, teacher, coach, daycare provider or anyone who cares about children should have on their bookshelf. If you want to see more joy and peace and a better relationship between you and a child, you need this book!

HASH(0x95bb2540) étoiles sur 5 This book is bringing more peace, happiness and fun to my home! 11 octobre 2012

I have NEVER had a book so clearly and thoroughly help me understand EACH of my children, individually. Not to mention get positive results QUICKLY, like within a day of applying the tools the author, Carol Tuttle, offers in this book!

I have always heard that "every child is so different" but when I go to look for a parenting book when problems come up...I have only ever found "one-size-fits-all" solutions...which usually end up NOT being solutions...because, well, every child is different! If a certain solution has worked for one of my children I now know it worked because that solution naturally honored and supported my child.

No matter the age of your child (even adult children!), the personality of your child or the challenges you are facing I am confident that this book will be an incredibly healing tool for all parents. In fact, this book will help ANY person who interacts with children regularly, including teachers, day care providers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.

HASH(0x95bb2780) étoiles sur 5 Life-changing parenting book for all parents - it really is a handbook for your child 12 octobre 2012
Par Sara Hurd - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
I have five young children, and although I may know my kids better than anyone else, I learned so much more about each of them through reading this book. Our interactions, discussions, and even difficulties have become much simpler and more joyful. It's true that a one-size-fits-all parenting approach doesn't work when you've got children that have different motivations, different ways of moving through the world, and different natural expressions! One of the things I love about this book is that I can become my own parenting expert and feel confident in the approaches that I try, because they are approaches that are tailored to each of my kids and what they need from me as their parent. I also love that it is so comprehensive and, at 432 pages, is a wonderful resource and a great reference as my kids age and their needs change. It is not a book that I'll read once and just put on the shelf. I'll be referring to it again and again.

The Child Whisperer is not only great for parents, but I noticed that it can also be really helpful for anyone who interacts with or works with children. Think: a schoolteacher who wants to motivate all her uniquely different students, a grandmother who wants to be an influence for good in her grandchildren's lives, a social worker who works with troubled teens, a community member who is concerned about the direction young people seem to be headed. The applications are really endless.

Here's just a sampling of some of the topics that Carol Tuttle covers in this handbook:
- your child in family relationships
- your child in their friendships and social settings
- your child's timeliness
- your child's money management
- your child's recreational activities
- your child's dating experience
- your child's classroom behavior and study habits
- how to help your young child learn to talk, potty train, and sleep through the night
- what your child's physical features can tell you about them
- how to communicate with your child in the most meaningful way
- how to help your child drive safely
- how to get your child to pitch in and help around the house
- what your child needs from you at every stage of their development
- how to heal a damaged relationship with your child

This is a book that will change your relationship with your child and make it better than you ever thought possible, no matter what age they are. And you get so much content for the price of a paperback book. You won't regret picking it up.

HASH(0x95bb2ae0) étoiles sur 5 I am SO glad I found this book! 12 octobre 2012

I have been a fan of Carol Tuttle's for some time now, but this book just really sealed the deal on my love for her! I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy of the book last week, and I devoured it in 2 days. There are some things in the book that are just really great common sense conscious child rearing that are always great to hear, but the way she was able to describe my child based on his type was unbelievable!

I still have not decided what type my 3 year old son is, he is a Type 1 or a Type 4, and most likely a combination of the two! There were so many scenarios in the book that spoke directly to problems we have been having and the best ways to handle them according to his type. I have been slowly trying them out with great success. I am definitely giving this book to every new Mom I know, I can't think of a better baby gift. Of course, this book is a must for a child of any age...

First, I am a conservative Christian with moderate, attachment parenting views. I try to teach and model emotional intelligence. I am not a "strict" or fundamentalist parent by any means and I agree with most of the energy typing. The issue I take with the book is the lack of obedience. In a perfect or idealistic world, our kids would behave well because they feel understood, but as a mother of a very energetic 3 year old, I can attest that she does not respond appropriately to this kind of discipline (or lack of).I agree not to sweat the small stuff, but some times I mean business. As all kids, no one style fits, but as a Christian, and a mother who wants productive good kids, I need some level of obedience. ANd let's face it, that's life. I do want my kids to feel like they can be themselves (my daughter wears a costume or apron and usually only pink clothes...), BUT I will not tolerate a never-ending screaming fit in a restaurant because some one unknowingly cut my daughter's sandwich the wrong way. There have to be firm limits. My daughter doesn't stop because I tell her I understand she's upset and will get the sandwich her way the next time. She doesn't stop until she realizes that the consequence of continual screaming will be the loss of TV or timeout, etc. As the parent authority I do know best in most situations and the child can only learn right from wrong when guided well. I am very loving and accepting, both of my kids are different and require different parenting styles and I am learning about that. I also believe that when kids get everything the way the like it, the become less adaptable, as again, the world is not always accommodating.
I also agree that the book is too wordy. I gleaned her point from scanning some of the chapters. also just FYI- if both your kids and you are all one specific type, three chapters basically don't apply. That's a lot of book to skim through.
So maybe I missed something. Some pearl that everyone else thinks is so terrific. I have learned all about different styles of loving kids in the book "How we love our kids". I would recommend that. I felt like I learned more from that book about relating to my strong-willed child.
