Présentation de l'éditeur

This is Part One of a Four-Part steamy serialized Fantasy Romance with a novelette length of about 11,000 words. It is not meant to be read as a standalone entry and contains mature content and language.

For Emily Ford, being awakened in the dead of night by what seems to be the very shadows in her bedroom come to life is the least of her worries as she is spirited away to become the new wife of an elven king for the purpose of bearing his heirs. Entranced despite herself by his ethereal beauty, Emily surrenders willingly to his seduction and is introduced to a new world of sensual pleasures she had not thought possible outside of a dream.

But can a human ever really win the heart of an elf or have a place within the elven court? Especially when the biggest obstacles to both are her new husband's barren and resentful queen, who has no qualms about wanting Emily gone and is prepared to do the unspeakable to make it happen, and the whispers of anti-human sentiments within the elven court, itself?

This is the first part of a full book. It's short. Many free books like this introduce you to a series, but at least give you some "completion" at the end. This one does not. The main character is kidnapped, blindfolded in some way and before you know it, she is in bed with the Elven King ~~ before you even get to know anything about the character. There is more sex than anything else in the first part of this serial. The characters aren't really developed at all - perhaps they will be in the rest of the book, but I expected more information in the first part of this serial. It does state that it is serialized in the description, but I still expected it to be an introduction to the "world" and the characters instead of being a complete cliffhanger. Disappointing, but heck, it was free, what can you expect?!!

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Interesting start. 6 mai 2014

This was an interesting start to this story and after reading it I had to buy part two. Although not much happens in this part it does make me want to read on to find out what happens because many questions are left unanswered. The writing is very good and the characters you will either like - or not. They awaken frustration within you, you feel with them and sometimes you just want to scream because of their actions. The only thing I'm not really fond of is that this feels like a book that has been cut into several parts instead of being just one book. But overall this is a good story for those who enjoys stories about elves, and I look forward to reading the rest. :)

Great cover, but it's rather like putting lipstick on a turd. The prose is very shallow in its delivery, and the characters lack dimension. I suppose the best way to describe it is a racey, smutty Elvish porn; in essence, the content rips away the elegance and grace typical of Elven lore, and churns it into something so base, animalistic, and unrefined. Really, it brings Elves down to the same level as humans in their animal need for sexual encounters. Very, very disturbing, especially for one who holds a special place in her heart for Elves and Elven Lore.

The story was interesting; however, I'll have to poopoo her writing style. Writher uses cliché's and colloquial phrases that really doesn't need to be there and the words could probably be dropped; however she does well in the flow of character thoughts; wish the writer would spend more time on developing the Elven kingdom and give more history of the character. I also wished that the writer did not rush through the last chapter of her last book jumping to 13 years later. The time could have been developed with the growth of her children.

I could see this book being great novel in the sense of Diane Galbadon with her Scottish and American history and development of the characters. Christina could develop the same type of historical novel with the Elven Kingdom since it spans for decades. Christine does a great job on romance side. I was disappointed that her books are in novella, since it is better suited as one book.

Forgot to add that even though this review is within the part one, it spans for much of the 4 books. I would like to see a follow-up on story on the character Thayren since there is much that can be done to develop that character in to a great book.

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Not good. 12 octobre 2014

This book was a short, unsatisfying story with weak characters. The world building and writing was mediocre and had much more potential that the author left untapped. The plot also fell into the 'not terrible, not fantastic' category. It was simplistic and, unfortunately, rather boring. I wanted our main character to be more dynamic, to not be so excepting of her fate. Oh, she did put up the customary initial response of disbelief and trying to fight, but all to soon it faded to acceptance (which was helped along significantly by the beautiful elf king). It made any fight by her previously, feel superfluous and pointless.
This book could have been more than what it was.
2 out of 5 stars.
