Présentation de l'éditeur

I got out five years ago.

Untalented, they said.

In other words, they didn't know what to do with me, and murder usually leaves a mess.

I understood messes. Saw too many of them in my dreams. That's why I live where I do, still in their shadow but outside their walls. The conditions, of course, are that I have to move every five years, check in now and then and never, ever, talk about them to anyone.

It was time to move.

Cloud Dust is a secret, government program, in which ninety-five per cent of the volunteers are dead.

Meet the one who didn't volunteer………

HASH(0x9e8cd3a8) étoiles sur 5 So much exposition 4 juin 2014
Par Wicked - Publié sur

I have to say that I was very disappointed with this book. It was boring! 90 percent of this book was exposition and soooo much telling. Example: So and so was involved with x, y, and z but I couldn't find him so we got James to do an internet search for pictures. Seems like the whole book read like that.

I fell in love with this author when I read her first book, "Blood Wager," so I will read what she puts out, but I have to say, this one just was not on the level of her previous books. I really don't understand all of the 5 star reviews! At 20 percent in, I was ready to call it a day, but I kept reading until the end and it just stayed boring.

I really hope the next one is better.

HASH(0x9e8fe534) étoiles sur 5 Finally a true heroine 25 mai 2014

Connie thank you for finally giving us a heroine who does not suffer from battered women's syndrome. If you have read any of the other books by Ms. Suttle, then you are aware that in her world a powerful woman or man will be beaten and severely mistreated by his/ her loved ones until he/she thinks death is the answer, then his/her loved one apologizes and all is well. Her new heroine Corinne is perceived as weak but is actually strong. She surrounds herself with people she can trust. Yes she is injured but by her enemies. She does what needs to be done regardless of the consequences. Please don't turn her into another domestic abuse statistic.

I am puzzled by this story. To me the characters feel flat and one dementional. The story seems without direction or something. I can't figure out where this is headed. I doubt I will continue this series. I love Connie's previous series and have reread them several times. This, not so much

HASH(0x9e8fe9e4) étoiles sur 5 Leaps and bounds better than the previous. 16 septembre 2014

I wanted to give it five stars. I really did. But like with the Blood Series, and The High Demon series, along with the God Wars series. The main character, the heroine of the tale, mutes her own emotions in favor of letting people tell her what to do while being the owner of god like powers.
That said this is still far and above the abusive storylines that the Blood series, High Demon, and God Wars series held. Corrine knows her power, and uses it. She's not constantly being beaten within an inch of her life, by the ones that 'love' her, while being told it's for her own good. There's no crying over how much someone hates/hurts/loves her while at the same time being told to just lay back and let them 'love' her.
What I have issues with, is Corrine is godlike in her power. She has the ability to make safe houses, to get away from the government, to be where they can't find her. But she spends five years+ under the thumb of the government, she lets them wrangle her, while she's depressed from her move here, and there. The only reason I really couldn't give this book a fifth star though, was simply because of the interaction between Rafe and Corrine after Rafe basically abandons her. She leaves. They all track her down, and within a day of being back 'with' everyone, he's asking her when they can screw.

HASH(0x9e9110a8) étoiles sur 5 Great book once again! 24 mai 2014

I really enjoyed reading Cloud Dust: RD-1, Connie Suttle's newest book, which happens to be her 30th book! This book is a departure from her other Vampire/Werewolf, Otherly World themes.

Cloud Dust is set on an earth similar in many ways our present earth and time frame. Cloud Dust is the tale of a secret US Government bio drug experiment and its effects on the test subjects, those who lived are treated as government property. Useful for the special powers given by the experimental drug, the survivors of the experiment are kept under lock and key, with guards night and day. Each assigned a "handler" and all living under one roof in a compound. Cori (a heroine with inner courage, a deep conviction of what is right and wrong and a dislike of terrorists ) is one of two women in the group. However she is considered worthless as she has no apparent special powers. Except Cori has the ability to help save America and maybe the entire world, because she has hidden her powers until they are needed. She also has a snarky sarcastic sense of humor, with the courage to speak her mind and lack of respect for authority.

Terrorists get access to the experimental drug and begin killing innocent people by the thousands for their own agenda. Soon Cori becomes the crucial figure in the fight for life and it falls to Cori and her friends to help save the world and life as they know it. However, when Cori reveals a power so great it horrifies even those closest to her she wonders if her own government will kill her.

This book grabs you from the first page and will not let go. It is filled with non stop action, very likable characters and is a definite keeper. Really hope the next book is coming soon as this one is wonderful.
